Mortal Kombat X Kollector's Editions Announced!

There are two things about the import version I don't like. One is the statue. It looks so fragile with only his foot connected to the base. Two is the gold scorpion skin. How does that go with the set at all?

Where the hell you been at for the past few years, Glam??

Under a rock? I'm just super excited about MKX and losing the battle with my willpower to not buy it on release. Figured I'd see what everyone is complaining about on the editions to dull my interest a bit.

It's only half working.

Anyone notice that the Limited Edition has a different Scorpion cover on the GameStop website?

Different? LMAO. Wake me up when it's someone else than Scorpion... Then it'll be different. A different camera angle is not different. That is trying to be creative with zero imagination. But I get ya...

Uh, that's why I said "a different Scorpion cover."

Do people really not ready anymore before hitting the "Reply" button? :banghead:

I agree that the box art cover for MKX sucks compare to MK9. Sadly they will always market Scorpion in MK games as the main face since he's most popular character. It's like with Twisted Metal where they always market Sweet Tooth on the box art and not someone else like Outlaw or Minion.

Well, when the first game came out everyone had a clean slate with equal chances of becoming the poster boy/chick. But in recent years one can't unnotice that Scorpion has been shoved by Ed down our throats more and more with each game. Don't get me wrong. Scorpion is cool and I like him. But his promotion has come to the point where it's silly and annoying. They make it look like he's the most important character the series has when in fact pretty much the opposite is true. Mortal Kombat doesn't need Scorpion. It doesn't need most of the characters. Marketing-wise at this point? Yes. But story? Scorpion's story has remained the last 20 years the same. Yet he is portrayed like the best character ever. Ed's judgment when it comes to Scorpion has become clouded. Instead of variety we're getting boring boxarts of nostalgia. Again. Just because Ed has hypnotized the casuals into worshipping Scorpion along his side. Boxart my a$$.

It works doesn't it? Kollector's edition with the Scorpion statue sold out within 6 hours of being revealed.

Who cares how the game is being marketed as long as it's successful? Because Scorpion is "Shoved down everyone's throat" it gets casual fans (aka the masses) excited about the game and they buy it. Boom more Mortal Kombat games for you and I. Just learn to love it.

Yeah, it does work. But both ways and only for a certain time. At some point people will get sick of a thing when you do that and will start looking somewhere else. Especially if you overdo it. Just look at franchises like Assassin's Creed, Need for Speed and Call of Duty. They needed to take a break in order not to completely ruin themselves. The same happened with Apple and the same is happening now with Samsung. You go big, you overdo it, you don't think and release quantity instead of quality and you fall. Or you make bad decisions (Nokia) and you fall as well.

Who cares? I do. I think we all here do. Or those of us who wish for some damn progress.

You may now be happy that the amount of $$$ NRS/WB will make from MKX will be enough to make more MK games (probably multiple) and maybe even get that third movie rolling, but don't be upset in a year or two when MK is everywhere just for the sake of it with the sole vision of raking even more money and not caring if it will harm the franchise or not.

You end up doing a million things without properly perfecting one of them.

I certainly don't want another Armageddon. Nor do I want another Annihilation.

Which is why they have the Injustice series and whatever new IPs they might create in the future.

Excuse me, I fell on the floor laughing at your post. How exactly is MK milked dry like CoD and Ass Creed?

MK9 came out 3 years ago.

If you don't like Scorpion being "shoved down your throat", as you people put it, the solution is simple; don't buy Mortal Kombat in the first place. I don't know how many times I have to say this. Money speaks louder than words.

So, skip out on the WHOLE game because you disagree with the shitty marketing / box cover?
What kind of retarded logic is that?
A simple dragon logo with "Mortal Kombat X" on the bottom of the box cover would sell just as many copies, as is evident by MK1, MKII, MK3, Ultimate MK3, Trilogy, and Deadly Alliance.

Since when did "voting with your wallet" become "retarded logic"?
