Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

He's Cris Berserk, and IIRC he kinda gave it up since he felt he would have too hard a time reaching the quality level of the other models in the project.

The critiques are fine, we can choose what is worth the time and when to move past it.

Yeah, someone else will have to model Sonya, and Kano. Probably Arq or myself. We seem to be the only ones right now, that are stubborn enough to continue...

I have to say you 2 got B@lls. You 2 showing off your talent in this project and sticking with the goal of completing it is really something

Do you somehow think we're in a "first" stage with Liu Kang?
We've been trying to get him out the door for MONTHS now.

The armpit notch bugs me because I, for one, know how muscles are laid out and it's impossible that such thing happens, and it's one of those things that people may not consciously notice if it's wrong, but unconsciously it still registers, and if it's right it conveys a sense of higher quality and realism.

Nope, in fact im here every day since page 150 (aprox), i'm fully aware of all the ciritcs you made from the day you started helping the other guys, i'm now i realize that i was not clear enough i was talking about the whole critic process since the second version of Liu not just about your latest posts. I'm not saying you should stop, i'm saying you should search a balance otherwise it will be a never ending process. Just trying to give you a constructive criticism of your constructive criticism.
If you felt insulted or something I apologies it was not my intention.

I didn't make that GIF intending for any change to happen.
I wouldn't go as far as to say they're perfect, but I'll say they're really good and there's no actual need to change them.
Also, Cage and the ninjas are in the game engine since LONG ago, and I wouldn't expect anything to be done to them in any near future.

I'm not saying it was his intention to change the models, I was pointing that for the average eye models are more than accurate the way they are now.

Guys dont take this the wrong way i'm just giving my opinion, just like Uker when he started helping Arq with Liu's model.

About my other sugestion, I'm basically saying to use the standard procedure for making a 3d model(minus the character creation part)

Create an model sheet from the reference pictures(which will be more easy to modify than a 3d model) and from there create the 3d model. I speak specifically of the head of the characters like this one.

I recomended JhonatasBatalha because he alrady did something similar with some MK images wi good results

Can someone with access to Dropbox confirm Kano & Sonya really gone for good?

If so, it's a massive shame, sure there were tons of work left on them but Gojira got the face likness spot on:

I'm happy to see that you and Arq are carrying the torch. At this point Arq has been unbelievable with the amount of updates he has provided. Arq is my hero right now. Given the amount of crits he has been subjected to, and how many times he has started over, I'm blown away by his dedication. I've known many talented artists in my time as a Creative Director but it is the people like Arq who never give up and constantly improve that are the most valuable to the team.

Wish I knew what happened to Interloko... he has disappeared again. Would be nice to have an update from him.

yes, those models are in drop box
So they're not lost afterall? Well that's a relief...

Arq_ Liu Kang looks amazing. You're a beast

(there's something strange below his right tittie, looks like his right bicep is behind his torso.. maybe it's just a shadow?)

edit: on closer look, yeah it's a shadow... just looks a bit strange from a far

Arq your improvement on liu kang is just fantastic, i would love to see the animations of the new model because currently it blows my mind.

Also it would be very nice to see a final ukers-gif comparison between the arq first model, the current model and off course the oficial mk sprite

Enviado con uno de aquellos.

arq, now that it is actually done, I just had to to this, sorry! XD
It's unbelievable how far you've come.
Congratulations again.

And here is yet another version of the MK 1 Character Select theme. Since I didn't get any response about people's opinions on the different versions of the theme, I decided to go with the one I'm hearing from Mame as a reference.

Let me know what you guys think about this one. Since the structure of the theme is a bit different in the actual arcade version, I changed the first bit of the arrangement a bit, but we'll see if that sticks. Once again, this is a loop so just set it to repeat in whatever media player you use.

It's much improved from the last version.
Glad to see you went with the slower tempo too.

Now, I'm not sure how that longer intro is going to work in the game.
Remember that this is the song that plays during the character select, and the intro is only supposed to last as long as the fade from black to the charsel screen.

Also, I just don't think this instrument is right.
I revised the one I sent you and came up with this.
For the rest of you reading, listen to this and follow the chart below.

Yours sounds like the pieces are there, but they're assembled in a different order, maybe even varying each time.
I'd also go for an octave lower for that one and give it a bit more presence.
Notice how that instrument starts even before the main one, and it gains quite some attention right from there.

I guarantee you it's like this, continuously looping between the two red bars I marked.

For the mid melody, I followed the instrument precisely using no loops. Just constructing the midi one note at a time all the way through the track having the original playing along simultaneously. If the issue is yet another difference in reference version, then it's really pointless to emulate any one version over another.

I actually just re-listened to the comparison piece you posted and there's differences that you aren't accounting for. The actual mid melody loop is longer and more varied than yours.

I did play around with different octaves and I might some more, but I found the octave I used to be about the lowest while still keeping present in the mix. Too much low-mids ends up sounding muddy and undefined which is something I really hate. It's one of the reasons why the main bass line in the original is so hard to make out.

EDIT: After listening several more times, I can see how you lined up your midi with that version. I may revise it again, tho I'm not sure how we would come to differing conclusions unless again, it's the fault of differing versions of the original. That's actually pretty frustrating.

I updated the image in my post.
Can you send me the link to the version you're listening to?

I definitely understand how you constructed your midi sequence, and it does indeed seem to match the version of the theme you posted. I unfortunately don't have link to my version. The file is on my other computer. It's very similar to the one you posted tho.

I'm honestly not THAT worried about the mid melody. It is reasonably important and I may alter it again, but I'm honestly much more concerned about the mood and vibe and feel of this track. I'm really curious to hear how people feel about those things. If I can get that part down, then details such as when when the mid melody goes up instead of down can easily be adjusted later. However if the mood and feel is off, then everything is off.

So please listen to the track readers, and let me know how you feel about it. It doesn't have to be anything technical. Just tell me if the piece hits you similarly to the original. It will never be identical, but if it makes you feel similarly, then we have made real progress.
