I understand you guys are trying to get these sprites looking as best as you can, but Liu Kang looks to be pretty much done. If it's only minor details that are so small no one would notice, then why not move on and start animating.
I remember before when Bleed was working on the ninjas, it was agreed that in the interest of getting this game finished, the 3d sprites weren't going to look 100% like the original game. The fact that they are 3d alone, makes them look foreign to the original.
It was a long time before the spine rip finishing move was completed, because people kept arguing about it was too fast or too slow. When really, it was because it was in 3d that it looked strange with our nostalgia glasses on.
Perhaps, Liu Kang is ready. He may not be 100% accurate, but does he look good enough to pass?
This is exactly what i was about to post yestarday but it was too late(I had to work early today)
It was exactly the same with Sub-zero's hand/fingers.
Uker i think you should change the criteria of your critics, leave the little details to the end revision and focus on the big things first, things like size and position are obviously necessary but this other things like finger position/rotation and armpit notch need to be the last thing to be worry about(unless they are notoriously out of place, of course.), so i think you, in the future, should leave that kind of things for ONE final critic.
Take this from some one with an average eye who, like the most of the people, will no take note of this things unless some one point them out like those details from Cage you pointed out recently, I not even consider them to be a problem, for me Johnny is perfect the way it is right now.
Beside is not like the characters barely resemble the originals if that was the case i will undertand the need to improve, but the guys are doing more than a wonderfull job.
On a side note, i know maybe its kinda late but for some reason i just realised this now, i will suggest get some one (i will recomend
JhonataBatalha who already post some of
his work) to make some character sheet (
like this) to help the modelers to get quickly to the final product (particulary with the faces), I think that with Uker's feedback a 2d sketch will be much easy to correct and it will be a much more reliable surce for the modelers.
Like i said maybe its a little late but you could try and see if it works with sonya.
Forgive me if i sound repetitive compared to other posts it took me too long to write all this XD
