Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I am still keeping tabs on this thread for weekly updates. Great job so far on everything you've shown. It's amazing work.

I do think some of you are being quite picky about very insignificant details that aren't worth the extra critique or time. Don't get me wrong, it's great that everyone is passionate about the project and wants it to shine, but if this ever falls through because of artists who have given up due to being constantly beaten down about minor details in their work, we'll all be VERY sorry we ever cared what shade of red was used for Kano's eye.

Well, I assume that would be me.
Now, this Baraka isn't meant for any game so no jeopardy there.

That said, I simply try to show ways to push things forward, and it's up to whoever is receiving my comments to decide whether to apply them or not.

Even when hardly anyone ever seems to welcome it (got to give it to Hawkin and calactyte on this), I'm glad to know I contributed to get Bleed's Baraka to what it is now, and hope one day it helps him get noticed.
Same thing goes for Hawkin's Liu Kang, which I reckon has come quite a long way from its first iterations.

My comment wasn't directed at any one member, just a general statement from the feedback I've seen posted throughout the project. To your point, if/when the project is completed, all of this feedback I'm worried about impacting the completion of the project will have actually helped. I'm just selfishly concerned that it won't ever be completed because of my excitement to play it!

It's for a demoreel now, but if we get to MK2, Baraka is ready to go. All the MK models I'm making are in hopes of getting them to a playable state at some point. If we get there, I will share what I have.

I don't know, that model looks better than the MK9 models. It might look out of place :)
My issue with that is they would be out of place with the prerendered FMVs sprinkled throughout the game. Unless you used them purely in modes that don't have FMVs. I'd be happy if FMVs went away and in-game graphics where always used for cinematics.

Anyway, the latest Baraka model *does* look great.

About the grain... I too agree that it goes well with the retro gritty look. In fact I gave the idea early on to use a film grain filter on the game to achieve that sort of look or a cinematic HD remastered look such as when a TV show gets remastered from its original film negatives.

Some of that grain may have to do with how it handles 256 color conversion I'm guessing... and I think grain should be a post processing effect that can be turned off and not built into the sprites per say.

That Baraka standing animation is pretty sweet. It is a shame that Netherrealm doesn't seem interested in going in that direction. Although, I can't imaging how creepy it would be seeing that model mutilated and dismembered. hehehe

thanks a lot for your time bleed, you can check in dropbox, in the liu kang folder, I also uploaded the palette, so you can check if there's something wrong with it..

every time I record the action I do every single step you said, but when I use that action with the batch funtion I don't know but the sprites can't be used... I double checked the action recorded and it works fine for just the first sprite.
