Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Holycrap...OK I just received an email from Psylense7683 who is having trouble accessing this web site. Are my ears deceiving me? This sounds almost exactly the same to me. Ladies and Gentleman, I think we've got our MKHD voice announcer...

Here is my try at the Announcer... I sent it to Justin as well. I'm not able to post on this forum, I think its due to me logging in with the facebook option. I also played my announcer test with the Character Select theme Justin created, it sounded pretty decent... I just might need to tweak my echo and reverb down a tad.

It was really just a test but I think he nailed it. I'm encouraging him to get a cheap but effective USB Mic for his computer. There are alot more sounds I'd like to hear such as Shang's Laugh. And other Shang sayings..but I honestly think he sounds almost exactly the same.

yaeh, it's great, if he does the "came here!" too?
if each character have his o own voice, because in mk1 the voices are the same for everyone
except sonya, but making different voice will make the project better and more realistic

Haha I was just about to post what Psylense7683 had sent. Yeah I think he does a great job. I asked him to send me his raw audio files, so maybe I could clean it up and stuff. If he could get some kind of USB mic that would be pretty rad, though.

hello everyone,more power
i've some question:
1:The sprites that have used ever,(for example in mk projects),came from where?,do they get from extracting the original game like Genesis rom or arcade rom?
2:now we see the new mk projects like one named :[ Mortal Kombat Ultimate HD (v1-v2-v3) by sanek] and thay have new moves for some characters like the following.do this new sprites create by photoshop or not?
thanks z.jpgz1.jpg

1. Yes. People use sprites ripped from the games.

2. Yes. People do use Photoshop to make new sprites. However, I can't say how any other particular project goes about making their sprites because neither I nor anyone anyone else here is working on those projects. I'm not sure why you would ask us about someone else's project, but there ya go. :)

Psylense7683's announcer test sounds almost 100%. Probably needs to be cleaned up a little or re-recorded. But accent and pronunciation seems to be spot on.

I always thought the MK1 sounds were VERY distorted (hardware limitation?). I wouldn't mind if there were cleaned up so they sounded better, after all it is a HD remake.

^ That's a pretty big issue, I think. The original audio was indeed pretty distorted, but that's kinda become part of the whole MK1 package, unfortunately. Personally, I'd prefer for the audio to be kept clean and clear. That's something that's going to require some discussion though. It will probably help once we have some A/B comparisons of clean vs. distorted versions.

Hopefully, people won't just go with the distorted versions because it's what they're used to though, but that may happen. That was a problem that cropped up a while back when I was doing sound effects for Scorpion & Sub Zero.

As far as I'm concerned the distortion of the original sound effects probably came from the low sampling rates they had to use and the cheap equipment (mics, etc) used in the original game. The sound quality was greatly improved going to MKII with it's back then brand new DCS sound system and they had better equipment in general.

I personally don't think new sound effects being made should be purposely made to sound like a low sampling rate was used for them. If so why even make new sound effects at all? May as well just stick to the original sound effects. What matters most is the voices resembling the originals but at a higher quality much like Psylense7683's announcer voice. For a bit I almost confused it for someone doing some really good clean up to the original sounds!

John Tobias was the original announcer and it sounded like he cupped his hands around the mic when doing those sounds to deliberatly distort his voice but it seems like Psylense7683 may have achieved a similar sounding announcer without having to do that which to me actually sounds better... so I say go with that.

One last thing.. In my opinion if you are going to redo the sound effects I think all the effects should be redone\replaced even if it means having to rip some from newer MK's like if no one is able to do a close enough Scorpion voice... I mean.. even the movies used Ed Boon's voice as Scorpion. There's no shame in that in my opinion if you aren't able to create good enough replacements on your own.

Ok I finally got it fixed. *had to activate account* But I have a professional mic setup, which is what I used. Thing is I downsampled it from a RAW Wav format to a LAME Mp3 and I also recorded in mono channel only. The only filter I used was a Grunge Compressor, and I a pitch shift (well not really much of a shift just by a semitone. I will Re-record this file over, because I found it easier for me to stay in Announcer tone by just doing all the names in one take. I'll even add in the Finish Her and Reptile... I'm glad the kommunity likes it haha, ive always lurked around and figured why not give it a try and I am also a graphic artist.

Your voice is so close, I was waiting for you to say, "I'm actually Tobias, I've been following this project for quite some time" LOL. You are THAT close. As smoke.tetsu said, I think your voice actually is better sounding. I'm sooooooo excited about this now.

Don't forget to download this so you can do Shang's Laugh, "Excellent" and "Well Done". Feel free to do any other SFX like "OooohhhUhhh" crowd sound or whatever. Here are all the sounds..

before I do any of this are there any improvements i need to make? (not counting audio quality since it was just a test) speaking of Test what about "Test Your Might?" and can anyone provide some source that has all the announcer clips? I have to listen to them over and over to get the right enunciation...

The only critisism I have is the way you say Johnny Cage could be tweaked some so the prononciation of it could be closer to the original. Listening to the original sounds should help with that though.
