Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I had noticed the sticks and they are a cool idea.
I just wasn't sure if they were supposed to make up for that echo, since the sticks were mostly prominent towards the end when it all gets quieter.
And no, I don't think it's a really important element.
I did like it but if you feel it doesn't fit, I'm OK with it.
Sounds great anyway.

Looks better, but I still think his ass is too high.
Notice how in the original the ass is visible well under his right hand, and there's much more torso visible.
Again, I think that will make it hard to transition into crouch block without it looking jumpy.

Also his hands still look too rigid from keeping the exact same posture as when he stands, especially his right one.
Again, i'd rotate his wrist so that the palm is more vertical and the back of the hand faces the camera a bit more.

Also, I have to disagree with calactyte on the cloth sim.
I have said it to arq before but I guess he found it too troublesome.

My problem is that the pants move too much, as if they were underwater, or as someone else said, like they're flapping in the wind.
The cloth sim should provide proper deformation as the character moves, but it shouldn't be something you consciously notice at work as is the case here.

Also, I'm worried that if the pants move this much with such minimal motion, they'll go crazy during the kicks.
Like, during the front kicks they'll flap upwards like crazy at the apex.

to be honest, I don't think I need cloth sims if I can't notice it, other thing is that, it looks too flappy because of the color... in game it won't be noticible since the pants will turn black, another thing is that you don't see the pants contour flapping, just some foldings on the right leg. another thing.. I bet pants won't be flapping like crazy and going everywhere on kicking animations

I guess this cloth animation will have to be calculated again LOL:bird:

@uKER

I see what you are saying, and I think it is really about the material setting Arq has setup on the cloth. For instance when you specify cloth type, you have some presets that range from something like "burlap" to "tissue paper". I'm not sure what preset Arq is using but the secondary motion of the cloth which you feel makes it look like it is under water is probably because the material is set as something closer to tissue paper.

Personally I think it looks great. It adds an element of realism that the original game was missing. It just seems like he is wearing really thin cloth pants. Who can really say that he wasn't for sure? I don't think the cloth sim looks unnatural at all but if Arq wants to stiffen up the material it really isn't too hard. Anyone else want to weigh in so we can get a consensus on if the cloth looks unnatural or not?

Yeah after seeing that video I feel cloth sim is pretty dead on. Can't agree with uKER on this one.

I do agree that most of the time the pants in your animation look kinda like that.
I just thought they were supposed to be a much more rigid type of cloth, such as this (see 3:27).
In any case, even if they were silky like the video you posted, I really can't wrap my head around the lower legs moving like that just from the knees shifting a bit during the flex.

But well, I'll trust you that the black will make them look better. ;)

To Arq's point you'll barely see any of the inner folds because the black cloth will hide so much. It is more about the silhouette.

I don't think your .gif does it justice. Looking at this slowed down and enlarged on my pc I dare to say this is your best work yet. Holly crap, the clothes moving, the fluid motion-- it's so lifelike. This literally looks like hd video footage of martial artist performing a kick. Wow.

The only thing I'd maybe consider adjusting is his standing left foot.

I don't think it's suppose to have continuous motion during that sort of kick. Lef foot should stay still on the ground for few frames at least once during the whole motion (around frame no.10? ) then continue moving. But that's just a minor detail, probably won't be noticable in full game speed so don't know if it's worth bothering

Hi guys,
in my martial arts experience i can tell that for a kick like this is necessary to rotate just being almost on the toes, so not on the whole foot nor heel. Maybe could it be modified/fixed?

You all doing a great work!

I know this has been commented before but...
raiden's face looks a bit too dark, probably because of the lighting above the hat.
maybe a spotlight near his face could fix it, only below eye level.

Good to see constant progress on the project, from music to models, everything's outstanding.
Keep it up ;)

I'm making the Medal for the VS Screen, and I'm trying to find the material used for the ribbon. From what I can tell, it's corrugated cardboard. I don't see anything like that using fabric, closest thing I see is Grosgrain.

I'll go with the cardboard, unless somebody can find a better reference.

Thanks for doing that, Bleed!!!

This is the best real life example I could find.

corduroy maybe?

Great work, Bleed!
Is it possible changing the lights or something, to make the dragon just a little more remarkable?
But if it's supposed to be like this, then I don't mind :p

Just a copy and paste, I wanted to see how it would look like
