Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Check MK2011! Might it could look better, and the way to make costumes of Reptile, Cyrax, Sektor, Ermac, Quanchi and Kabal better, could be found, I like this game just because It's finally, at least for a little bit, related to original, having top graphics.
Despite that Ermac has no red mask and not enough red, Cyrax, Sektor and Reptile are absolutely not similar to original, and Kabal and Quanchi have strange clothes. This installment is anyway briliant in comparison with this trash:

MK9 character models are ATROCIOUS. They are overblown, poor proportion copy+paste base male and a base female models with absolutely no physique differences on every single character, other than the head. In the case of character models in this project, especially Bleed's work, they already take a huge dump all over MK9.

You sound like you try to prevent a nuclear bomb setting off...

The details you've mentioned are pretty much insignificant. Reptile is a hidden character that was meant to be Scorpion+Subzero at first anyways, no more. Liu Kang with his 360 fatality was made that way to highlight the fact that he doesn't kill off his opponents in a violent fashion.

You're asking them to change something that was DESIGNED originally, not mistaken. I wouldn't be suprised if you would call Goro with no fatalities a mistake, same with ShangTsung. This project aims to recreate MK1 only in HD. The gameplay and the characters are going to be untouched. Thought this as much was obvious.

Okay, if you found some reasons to explain why Liu Kang doesn't kill opponent. What about Reptile?
Are you sure that developers were going to create sequel in 1992?
I think that, at that moment, Reptile was just another junk, made just for existence of secret character like Rain in UMK3.
There is no connection with plot, of things which Reptile MK1 does.

Actually, I would like to ask for fatalities for Goro and Shang Tsung. But I'm not sure that it is good idea if they haven't them in any 2D installment (I do not remember had Goro fatality in MKT or not, inspite that Goro in MKT is the same Goro from MK1). I wouldn't like to make it without any gag. So that, as I say, it's not a good idea, but if you know how to make it without any gag - it think it could be not so bad idea.
Mind you, it wasn't my idea.

Change one thing drastically, there'll be someone else complaining about the same thing why it's changed. You make Liu Kang's uppercut explode there'll be someone saying "But I can't combine his fatality with Pit 1 fall like in the original, this sucks!" You take aways Reptiles speed, change his moves "But now he's totally different character then in MK1, this sucks!" Btw our beloved MK9 had Reptile do Ice blasts and Spear in one of the modes. We heard it all before, and there was a consensus - make this remake as close as possible to the original game, with SUBTLE changes where they most make sense (and changing ones move set is not subtle) That is most likely not going to change.

@Chuz, I bet you love most of the artwork done here, but you're butthurt it's not going to be used in a way you see fit. Maybe I can ease your pain by saying there was talk of doing pimped up MK1.5 after this one is released, so who knows... Also, if Bleed is going to make his characters or spirtes available to MUGEN comunity I bet you'll see plenty of different MK1HD popping up.

Also you can start your own thread "How to improve garbage that is MK1" or "MK 3D era sucks" somewhere on these forums and take this discussion there. That's just a suggestion.

Reptile MK1 in MK2011 is, obviously, easter egg.

So, let's make some discussion about Reptile's special moves. I still didn't descry any direct objection.

You need to realise that at the time the game was designed, Reptile was put there just to fill-in the "secret character" quota. They did not think about his background story at all at the time. The same thing happened to Jade in MK2 and etc. It's not trash, it's not a mistake, it's the way it was designed.

Copy+paste was done on the arcade games because of the memory constrains, not laziness.

I think they all look horrible. MK1 Sub-Zero looked the best to me. Scorpion looking like Sub-Zero but with a different color was explained as well, it was a mockery and deliberate insult of the Lin-Kuei by his own clan.

Actually it is OKAY because that's the goal of this project: take MK1 the way it was released and make it HD.

I would like to play in MK9 with replaced classic models.
Bleed probably can make modification for PC-version.

"Liu Kang was the only character in the first game whose finishing move (Fatality) did not explicitly murder his opponent, and also without the background dimming. This was because Liu Kang was depicted therein as a Shaolin monk, who in general have strict beliefs regarding killing and murder"

Chuz, you really need to chill out. And I'm not just asking you to chill out, but stating that if you don't, you will face consequences.

If you want to offer helpful critiques to those involved in this project, then that's absolutely fine, but all you're doing is debasing the project and its contributors by trolling them and trashing their objective. You don't have to like what they're doing or how they're doing it, but it is their objective and not yours. Even putting your harsh words aside, the points you've made have already been brought up before (albeit in a much nicer way), and the team has always restated that their goal on this particular project will remain the same.

Please take your diatribe on the many unfathomable mistakes of Midway elsewhere. This thread is simply not the place for it.

IMO, it's as close to real people as you can get.
MK5-and-onwards models looks like they have taken steroids for breakfast since they were born, even the girls.
I mean, the girls look like what a built guy should look like.

I want to see females with kick ass armor too! What girl in their right mind would fight with a thong??

I really wish I could help out with this project.
I'm not any good at 3D modeling, but I'm pretty good with Photoshop. Not as good as MrMos3s (never done any real editing with it.) but I could probably do some stuff that's good enough.
But, I don't have time. (plus, the game is small, so I'm sure you've got it covered.)

So, instead I'll have to say, what you guys are doing is really impressive. Keep up the good work!

I think the main reason this is what happens is because those who make the games think this is what people want, which is true to an extent, but I think most people would rather characters have builds that were more realistic.


Just think of what Boon said about MK9's challenge tower pries, it was the greatest pries every, everyone would like it. Mileena 3/4 naked... Boon... Dude... That really isn't that awesome.
 
Bleed I hope you don't get tired of hearing me say it, but this looks incredible as always. Thanks for your hard work! Do you think you can work on Cage's Test Your Might? That should be fun especially with the facial expressions. I can't wait to see how beautiful that will look.

I'm just happy with the experience and having gotten this far.

Some would like to see changes, but others don't. We can't make everybody happy and we made our pick. Looks like most of us working on this, like the original game play enough to not feel a need to change it.

We can't be changing our minds every time someone comes around, with ideas on how they think it would be better.
