Mortal Kombat Demo for PSN Plus Members March 8th

Not buying a PSN+ account, but I did pick up a PS3 today shortly after hearing about this. I'm just gonna wait til the 15th.

In all honesty man...If you bought a PS 3 after hearing this news, why would paying $18 dollars to play the game next week seem unreasonable? lol.
 
how bout i had a $20 psn giftcard, i was saving it for the dlc but it worked out good.

of course it doesnt hurt ima grown ass man with a job and can buy whatever i want

but it feels good i had the giftcard and didnt have to pay $18 for the psplus

I didn't really get it because of hearing this. I'd been looking for one and found a good deal on one on craigslist. I also don't think a week extra of a DEMO is worth $18.
 
Besides getting the Mortal Kombat demo a week early, can anyone justify spending $18 for 3 months of Playstation Plus? I'm not really looking for people telling me to just wait an extra week, I'm merely curious to hear what other benefits or extras Playstation Plus would bring me during those 3 month ( again, benefits/extras that would justify $18 ). I want to play MK9 as soon as possible, but I'm not sure I want to pay 1/3 of what I'm already going to pay for the actual game, just to access a demo that will be $0.00 7 days later.

I've heard there are free games that can be downloaded, but can't figure out which games (I've seen some people list PSP games, but I'm not interested in that). Also, are there any additional services or features that can't be accessed via standard PSN? I've seen that PlayStation Plus offers discounts on existing games and content, but I'm certainly not looking to shell out more money. Freebies, extras, anything special.... let me hear it.

Well just now I've just heard of Stacking which is free on PSN+. From what I've read, it's available for $15 for standard users. The game looks fun as hell so this justifies getting the Quarter-Yearly Membership.

Browsing through the PSN Store, I can see many free games for PSN+ Users. I may even consider getting the Yearly Subscription.

But to be honest, I haven't used the PSN Store for months before this news came up.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I'll browse through the PSN store later and see what they've got. I keep going back and forth. One minute I decide I'm going to purchase PSN+, the next I decide it's better to save my money and just wait for the free demo. If I see enough decent looking freebies, I guess I can possibly justify the purchase. Anyone else care to share their opinion?

It looks like the demo will not include multiplayer. It's really the only thing I cared about personally, I don't have anyone to play against. Single player is great and all, but the whole fun of mortal kombat to me is "ripping your friend's head off", as the developer in the developer said in the last video.. well how can I do that if all of my friends have moved away?

There should be multiplayer in this demo, it would have definitely secured a buy for me.. perhaps I will just rent it now and try it out instead when it comes out. It's great we have these single player modes, but i'm not as excited about this demo now :(
 
So you're going to make a "purchase or rent" choice off of the lack of online multiplayer in the... demo?
My head hurts trying to think of how that makes sense...

I think you're talking about StackING. I know it's a small detail, but if you're gonna use something as evidence to support an argument, it helps to know small details like that. :p

Consumers sometimes don't make sense. To me it shows multiplayer is not a priority, I bought marvel vs capcom 3 and wasted $60. You have to stare at a screen for 10 minutes waiting in line for other players, which is fine, but you can't even spectate matches in progress. No way in hell I'm wasting money again if it's like that.. I'm all multiplayer, so definitely going to rent first before taking any chances again.. so basically if the demo had multiplayer, and it was fun.. It would have sealed a buy for me.

If no demo had ever come out I would have rented it, because of the mvc3 experience I had.. I'm just kind of disappointed there no multiplayer in it.. It would have been fun kicking your ass before April 19th comes.
 
I'm looking forward to seeing that video montage after beating the Ladder mode; I wonder what secrets they'll unveil. Also, I wanna see the Toasty! guy too lol. I'm kinda glad they didn't put multiplayer in, makes the wait for online play that much more worth it imo.
 
i will be buying psn+ just to get it early... i cant help myself - i am trying not to buy it just for that reason - but i am - i can't not

I know i sounds a bit crazy, but i seriously thought about buying a PS3 (im on XBox) just for the early demo and sell the console after the MK release :/
But at the end i think that goes a bit too far :)
