Mortal Kombat Arcade stick, would you buy it?

Have you looked at GameStop? Last time I was in the one near me, they had two of the Classic Sticks in stock, and their website says they have both the Ps3 and 360 versions in stock.

Not sure if there is GameStop in England. There is GameStation but I'm gonna ring round the local game shops in the morning and see what they have.

They have one on sale at my local gamestop for $100. Id love to have it for collection purposes but money is tight at the moment. Maybe if its there after the holidays id pick it up

I need something, this pad of mine is ****ing unresponsive. D Pad doesn't feel right now.

How did some of you adjust to changing from pad to stick?

I already play my MadCatz Fight Pad with the "claw" set up, that is, I use my fingers rather than my thumb on the buttons, so this makes me think I should re-adapt to using a stick again?

EDIT: After seeing a few videos, im not so sure i'd like the MK Sticks after all and might just plump for a SF Fight Stick. Buttons look much more accessable, and I do play SF as well...

Also SF Fight Sticks seem much easier to get a hold of

It's too bad that you don't have a ps3, I would've sold you my MK stick for a reasonable price, I'm currently using the Fighting Commander Pro and it's a GREAT pad.

Not sure if its my imagination, but it seems there is WAY more sticks out there for PS3 than 360. On Google I found one place that were doing MadCatz TE sticks for £30 special offer! But of course, that was for PS3, and the 360 ones were like, £150. Thanks for the offer though, and trust me, I've been searching high and low for something good and something for a reasonable price.

I've just purchased one of these (QanBa Q4RAF Arcade Fighting Stick)

After much searching and looking at vids, this is what i've opted for and im a little bit psyched waiting for it to arrive now. Yeah, getting something like a Stick does mean sometimes you have to stump up change, but I just got a very nice Tax Rebate recently so I felt like spoiling myself a little!

Ya you prolly should get a SF stick since you don't exclusively play MK. The MK layout and stick does not work to well with other fighting games. It only works with MK and other fighting games that Midway made. SF sticks work pretty well with other games.

I picked up this stick for non MK fighting games for about $50 or so:

It's made by Hori, and it's pretty solid. The lollipop style stick tends to hurt my hand after a long period, but that's true of all sticks that style, not this one in particular.

Yeah I saw those Hori sticks all over the place! Sek, have you thought about replacing the lolipop stick with "traditional baseball bat" stick?

I started on the SFIV pad and then switched to Arcade Stick, and never looked back !
One advice: swap the cheap suzo-happ buttons / stick with IL eurostick and IL competition buttons, wich both have the Zippy switches.
After that mod you have one hell of a stick !!
btw theres a thread about the stick in the sticky section above ;)

Have to say i'm also very interested in the fightstick from Razor, wich is still in beta but looks badass !!

I have the Tournament Edition stick but only use it for the classic MK's, cuz it's impossible for me to get a decent combo out of it in the new MK.

Give it some time to get used to it, like say 2 months.
It's an time investment, but after that 2 months i'm sure you will never touch the joypad again !

Yeah, I should... but everytime MK comes on it's a fight till someone's fingers bleed, so I have no room for any kind of error lol.
MK hardly comes on these days when I'm alone so... I'll stick to the joypad for now.
They MUST release new characters so I have a reason to spend days in Training again :)

Talking to Perfect Legend and Tom Brady and following them on twitter I want to try out the playstation 1 etokki converter that seems to be what alot of pros use. But when I use Johnny Cage I love that fight stick! Oh yea!

LOL, I sincerely doubt it will take me TWO MONTHS to adapt to playing on a Stick again!

Brad Ab Turn, have you thought about a Hitbox? Those things look like they were designed for MK in mind.

C-Sword, yeah the Madcatz MK stick looks awesome as well. Sticks with MK button layout are so freaking rare it seems!

Prolly cuz the layout is pretty much exclusive to mk and aren't very friendly with other fighting games.

I havnt had much time to look into the options can you send me a link for Hitbox?

I have the tournament edition stick (got it for free basically since I bought it using the money I got from selling my old iPhone for way more than expected), and I'll say this: MK9 is better with a gamepad IMO but MKAK is better with the stick. There's just something about playing the classicis on a pad that doesn't feel right. There's probably a generation gap in play as well. If you started playing MK on consoles you likely won't enjoy using an arcade stick.

Agreed! I have yet to get used to playing MK9 with the fightstick. MKAK on the other hand is definately comfortable.

Well my QanBa Q4RAF Arcade Fighting Stick arrived about an hour ago :D

Been using it in the training room, and I have to say, I already feel very much at home with it. Every now and again I seem to jump backwards or forwards depending on which way im dashing, but I just put that down to not having used a stick again for a few years.

Baraka and CSZ feel very natural to use on the stick! I'm missing time timing on one or two of NW and Sindels combos, but again I just put that down to not having used the stick for awhile.

Feels very comfortable. Even with it sitting on your lap. No irritation on the wrists from the edges. My right hand does feel a tad stiff. I used the "claw" technique on my pad, which is what most players use for sticks, and naturally the buttons are covering a wider space, but I think my hand will get used to that after awhile.

Going to give it a run in Ranked. I honestly think i'll be 100% at home with this within a week.

EDIT: ARGH! My spacing feels different! Hopefully i'll get used to that, but dashing, back dashing, jumping, crouching, as weird as it sounds, feels totally different on a stick when you play against someone compared to my D Pad.
