Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

I have seen people on Youtube making videos on Youtube because of that Tweet.

That means nothing. They are just riding whatever train they can get on. I mean at this point, it should be obvious, that Youtubers literally need to keep spamming videos, to keep up with Youtube's system.

If someone made a convincing petition for Sailor Moon to be included in MK11, then they would post about that as well.

And they keep spreading BS because people support these channels.

I don't give a damn for any of them, but I think channels of those who actually post faithful content and/or play the game are the ones that deserve props.

Most of these channels that talk about Shaggy and other ridiculous things make a 7 minute video only to say "maybe?" or "probably not".

Btbh I see houw ridiculous it also became the whole guest character thing. If Shaggy in MK11 was as idiotic as we here know, youtubers wouldn't even bother doing videos. Ed Boon posts all sort of things, if they make a video about every tweet of his, that would make sense, but they only did because some people do believe MK is a game where they can put their MUGEN dreams.

Trust me they would do a video on anything. If Ed Boon posts it on Twitter, that is a clear for a video post. You have no idea what people post about. There is this youtuber called MrBossFTW. If someone from Rockstar makes a fart, he will make 15 videos about it. Why? Cause it is popular.

Ed Boon is making fun of this meme in the open, which makes this entire thing with Shaggy popular. Popular = views. Hell I remember making Frost MKX trailer. Was a crap job, but had couple of channels post videos (spanish channels) about it, just because my video received around 20k views. So same here. Video for the sake of the video.

I can guarantee, that if I made now a new Frost animation with my current skills and Ed Boon retweeted it or mentioned the video. BOOM. You would get Youtubers swearing on their mothers, that Frost is confirmed, and that she will look the way I made it. Etc... Just ignore it. They can spread as much bullshit as they want. At this stage character roster is locked in and nothing will change it.

Also we have Kombat Kast coming. Hoping for some awesome reveals.

So peaceful thoughts.

I'm watching Ketchup's breakdown of Raiden anf saw an intro I haven't seen anywhere else.

Baraka: Kitana demands I make peace with you
Raiden: Then why fight me, Baraka?
Baraka: I must kill you to achieve it

Makes me wonder if this Baraka is actually dead still, and they're just pulling an MKX Liu Kang where the living costume is just non canon. It could make sense as to why he's working under Kitana, and also why she wants peace with Raiden since he just threatened her and Liu Kang

There's another Baraka intro that references Kitana.

Baraka: I will not negotiate.
Sonya: Kitana said you would talk.
Baraka: Not with humans.

There's a lot of ways to interpret these. The most likely, IMO, is that not only are the dialogues not canon in any way, but they aren't even representative of canon. e.g. Kitana and Baraka have absolutely nothing to do with one another in the story, or if they do, that is simply a coincidence to these dialogues.

The reason I think this is true is that 1) this is how MKX did it, and 2) there are too many contradictory dialogues to reconcile them all.

Less likely, but more fun to speculate: Someone else besides Quan Chi can raise Revenants and Baraka is now a Revenant in Kitana's service; OR by the end of the story mode, Kitana is Empress of Outworld; OR Baraka is from an alternate timeline that never happened, where Kitana was Empress of Outworld; OR...

Possibly the most tantalizing option... Baraka is not from MK1/2/3/9 as we suspected all "newcomers" to the timeline to be... but from MK4, where Kitana led an army against Shao Kahn and almost toppled him. Maybe the different timeline characters aren't all from the same time, but pulled from a variety of games.

Maybe Raiden is attacking the Netherrealm and Kitana/Liu Kang are trying to forge new alliances.

Notice that the Thunder God also mentions making peace with Baraka in one of the intros.

Could be what if scenarios? Could be. But many, if not most, MKX interactions despite never happening in the story were actually accurate to it.

Not any that involve dead characters. Which both Baraka and Kitana happen to be at the moment.

Well, Kitana isn't actually dead (I mean, she did die, but revenant is basically a life status), but Baraka now I have my doubts if this is MK II Baraka or revived Baraka.

That'd be funny if it was still MKX Baraka. Dude is stupid resilient. Let's not forget when Kung Lao cut him in half, and my guy came back with nothing but staples and a dream :laugh:

Hey, I just noticed some things that I wasn't paying attention in the customization that make several references. They could be important:

- In the Sub-Zero menu the Tengu are mentioned. Could MK11 bring back this Lin Kuei minor rivals? It's possible since they habitate Lin Kuei Temple's region;

- Raiden has two version's of Shinnok's Amulet. One of them the middle jewel glows in the same color of his lightning (I can see that because his original MK9 Amulet turns red if he's Dark Raiden). With a version like this, could Raiden unlock a different power of the Amulet? (Could be only a customization feature, but it's curious to have two versions);

- Raiden has two outfits that have names. Meldius and Cairies. Possible name of Elder Gods? Other Gods? Heroes of the old? MKX had Mordulus, but there was never mention of that, could be another dead end either;

- Reiko's ritual blade is a type of blade for Skarlet. Guess this could be saved from MKX comics at the least;

- Blended *Meat* Juice for Skarlet. Eeks;

- Geras has a piece for his back called "Last Days of the X Era". Could this be a nod of the once again retelling of MKX story?;

- Geras also has one called Crystalized Jinsei Essence. His blood is blue and he glows blue. I was wondering if Geras isn't powered by the Jinsei or a similar power. As Kronika also glows that blue, reminds of my loose theory - based that the One Being is also that color - if the Jinsei isn't actually the heart of the One Being and Kronika and Geras (the second most likely a construct) are related to him directly;

- Pax Edenia is a reference to Pax Romana, time where Augustus was the Emperor and the Roman early Empire saw a very prosperous moment after half millenia of turbulence in the Republic;

- One that I have mentioned before, a chest emblem named Totem of Immortal Onaga. I still don't know if I should get my hopes. Afterall, he's immortal...;

- Another one VERY interesting. "Faithful Servant No More". Could Geras betray Kronika? Well, Raiden did wanted to induce him to cut the ties with her in one of the intros.

So far, that's what I could get that I haven't mentioned beyond the Totem.

I am pretty much getting that "chill dude" feeling from Geras.

Judging by his Intros, he is like a student/apprentice of Kronika. He has a great interest in history, so he studies everyone he can.

But the one who has the vision of this SET timeline, is Kronika. Geras most likely is just doing his master's bidding and supports her vision. So there is a possibility that if Raiden or someone else show him a different path, (by beating him), he might reconsider.

Usually beings like that, believe that fate is set and nothing can be changed. So I predict, that Geras might have foreseen some sort of outcome, only for Raiden or someone else to change it, which would prompt Geras to rethink his Master's plan. If he realizes that time cannot be set in stone, then most likely he will decide to help the Champions.

Oooooor. He simply gets sick of Kronika's shit and wants to take over or disobeys her orders, which will prompt Kronika to kill him.

Gameplay wise I am really happy to see how this game is turning out, every character has a lot of cool tools in there kits and the balance of meter is something I really want to try out.

My favorite kind of characters to use in NRS games are hybrid characters. Ones with good zoning and upclose games. I might actually use Sonya in this game, if they end up neutering Kabal too much. Her drone looks like a lot of fun.

I asked because I've seen plenty of people online going the "If_________ isn't in I'm not buying" or "If ________ isn't in we riot" and I never understood the whole skipping out a game for 1 character.
I'm happy for you that you got Johnny Cage, but I also found 2 new mains in Ronin Takeda and Shotgun Jacqui to replace Nightwolf and Rain. No big deal.

Personally speaking, never will I not buy a game just because one or two particular characters aren't in it. I honestly think people that do that are really just limiting any potential enjoyment they could have with other characters.

Neither would I, but I’ve seen plenty of these people throwing a hissy fit online over 1 character, and it seems that those vocal ones are the ones that NRS is catering to.

I've loved Tekken ever since my mom got me Tekken 2 on my PS1. I've owned every game and have spent countless hours learning it's systems and mechanics.

That said if they ever release one without King, I will not buy it. I can understand why others are the same. Fighting games are nothing without their characters, and when you really become attached to one you can lose a lot of interest when they're left out.
