Yes, agreed, but then that begs the question of, “do they purposely cut 6 characters only to sell them later as DLC?”
Usually NRS works on their DLC characters POST-release.

When I say planning, I don't mean they finish them alongside the base roster, I mean they know who there are gonna have and plan and set things up accordingly, such as putting a few empty placeholder boxes.
 
My guess is by the time secret/unlockable character are unlocked and both Kombat Packs have been released, we will end up with a full rectangle.

If this is in fact legit, I am content with the base roster. There are plenty of characters I want to play as.

High Interest/Favorites: Sub-Zero, Kabal, Noob, Raiden, Baraka, Kotal, Erron, Shao Kahn, Scorpion, Kollector, Cetrion

Medium Interest/Willing to give a shot: Geras, Frost, Cassie, D'vorah, Liu, Jade, Scarlett, Johnny, Kung Lao, Jax, Kitana, Kano

Least Interest: Jacqui, Sonya

Assuming the DLC is adding 4 MK and 2 Guests per pack, I can only assume that I will find more characters I want to play in DLC.

The announcements are being handled terribly, but to me, the game is coming together pretty nicely. Obviously there are some things missing that I would like to see, but you cant have it all (Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Cyborgs etc.)
 
What if the 3 remaining spots are the unlockables. I mean they can't just shove Rain in our faces and just not have him in. Maybe he is an unlockable after beating Konquer mode. I am just hoping

Shang is at the bottom and one of the leaks mentions that Kollector is a cyborg hybrid, and that Frost has some cybernetic enhancements or something. That's who I think they were talking about yesterday when they said "You wont believe what we did with some of the returning cast"
 
My assumption is that SHA is Shao Kahn, not Shang. Goro and Darkseid were both base roster spots even though they were pre-order DLC.

Having the base roster leaked is pretty cool, but having the hidden characters leaked would suck for NRS. Probably put them off from doing it for a good while.
 
I dont know, if the unlockable characters were something new and surprising, sure. But I feel like making old characters unlockables is kind of pointless.
 
Are we suppose to feel bad for NRS? On one hand they had a roadmap on how and when they were going to show off/announce characters.

On the other they were really stretching things out, on top of using boring ass kombat kasts as their main platform to show off characters. Just wasnt really working for me

I don't think it's a fair trade just because the kombat kasts suck. They work their asses off on these characters and I'm sure they love how excited everyone gets when they're shown off in trailers.

Although it is a bit ironic that they revealed Kano and D'Vorah the same way this leaker is revealing everyone else. In a still image lol
