Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

I was kinda hoping either Taven or Daegon would be in, as it'd be interesting to have Red vs. Black Dragon, but I think we can safely rule that out.
 
This is what I reckon the roster could be - if we assume there aren't an additional couple of new characters, and the roster size is set at 25. This is based on my previous list, and the assumption that both Rain and Reptile will make the cut. If those 'secret' tags are indeed new characters, then replace Rain and Reptile with whoever they turn out to be.

Didn't they confirm that Kronika is not playable?
 
I admire the faith you guys have in Reptile.

He's a great character, don't get me wrong, but there's no protagonism on him. He was born and will die a henchguy, and the only time he was a protagonist we just needed his body.

I would be absolutely ok if he sat this one out. He will be there, but for me he's Kano level of character. Never important even when he's important.

Will scratch my head if Noob isn't tho.
 
I agree with you about Reptile but he seems to keep coming back and is a popular combo-heavy character. I'm not really bothered either way.
 
They said that there will be secret characters in the game. So having Noob, Reptile, and Rain has hidden unlockables can be a good throwback to the old days of MK.
 
I'm thinking over and over about the info we have been given about Kronika.

It bugs me that she wanted Shinnok to be the ultimate victor. What would she achieve? He would totally merge the realms and the One Being would devour the Elder Gods.

And if she wants to reset time, well, that would only point towards the beggining of everything. Everytime I overthink about this I believe boss Kronika will be One Being something, and that would absolutely fit the "boss of bosses" thing.

But I'm still wondering, despite the lack of info: what woudl she gain with Shinnok winning? There's got to be something more than "balance of good and evil", since Shinnok winning would be end of all things.

Also, bringing back again the truth of death. Killing everybody might have a different perspective now. Because that was his plan, the reality to have an end. With this little information, it seems she's going to just continue his plan, like they were both thinking the same all the time.

I want to bad to play this story lol

Same happened with Baraka and it seems in this game he plays a bigger role than just a jobber. NRS can make Reptile not be shitty if they want to. Plus the bastard has been there since MK1, so if Kano got in...

Agreed.
I’ve said this before, too.
Reptile could be an MK1 unlockable and Noob could be an MKII unlockable in MK11.
There’s 2 character slots unaccounted for, plus (IMO) there could be 2 other spots that could unlock (to the left and to the right) of the main roster for those said characters.
 
I think Jacqui is in more because she's Cassie's friend than for "diversity" but I'd much rather her father was in, I've always been a big fan of Jax.

But Baraka was meant to be someone of importance. He was the leader of the Shaolin invasion in his debut, he was a general in Shao Kahn's army, Kung Lao's rival, and even tho he was a gameplay punch bag he was a character of some highlight. Even games like MK:SM (even if non canon) showed him as a cruel commander.

Reptile has always been Shang Tsung's errand boy. He's a great character, but I don't see him as protagonist of nothing, so he keeps repeating the same role since MK1. Still, I can agree that NRS makes depth to characters much better these days, and I'm on the "no character is beyond saving" side, so I never bother him coming back. I just mention him because he's still popular, people keep asking him, I always see people wanting him having protagonism of something, but it's a role I don't see fit for Reptile.

And Kano was pretty much rejected next to Kabal, so to me Reptile is on the same.

He might be able to appear mask-less no matter the skin (similar to Sub-Zero). An example of that for Sub is seen in this video:


If you look at the on-screen displays during the win poses of the 16-Bit vs SaucyJack matches, you can see the characters Gear pieces above the Player Kards. Kabal's mask is definitely part of his Gear.
