People voted with their wallets and ballots and that's great.
I hope that WB / NRS got ripped a new one for trying to implement all of this in-game mtx garbage and I'm glad it didn't win.
The gameplay is fun as hell with MK1, but SF6 was leaps and bounds better and I hope they are humbled by this.
Someone needed to take them down a peg, and if it means not winning at the Game Awards, then so be it.
DO BETTER next time, NRS.
They only have themselves to blame.
 
The VGA s are just cringe on top of cringe with a bunch of advertisements in between. Boon looked so bored and uninterested presenting.a award. I thought he was going to fall asleep. Hell I was about to fall asleep to that crap. It just makes me miss traditional E3 more honestly . At least the cringe there was entertaining.
 
I couldn't care less about MK1 winning a award or not. My question is why did he even show up? It's not like he had any real reason to be there. Yes MK1 was nominated but NRS didn't announce anything DLC or otherwise. The whole thing with him being there felt pointless. I'm way more salty about Robo cop rouge city not even getting mentioned once. It's hands down my game of the year but it is what it is.

You don't... But he did. That's why he showed up. Imagine if MK1 won an award... he'd be hyping it up and the shills would be all "YOUR COMPLAINTS DON'T MATTER MK1 WON AWARD TRILLION DOLLAR FRANCHISE" etc etc etc...

Anyways the shill awards are all about sucking off big publishers. Atomic Heart cooked AAA games and never got mentioned anywhere.

I honestly doubt he cares. The shills are always the ones with the loudest voices. He was payed to get MK1 out in a timely manner and thats what he and NRS did. WB couldn't wait and NRS was forced to push out a half finished game. The whole AAA industry needs to be taken down a peg or two if we're going to see any real change. The shill awards needs to die along with it IMO.

....He was hyping it up when MK11 got an award for special effects or something. He 100% cares. And yeah he's still hyping up MK1, going on some show to talk about how "it's the best thing everrrr, we gonna support it longer than mk11 (rings any bells?), MASSIVE SURPRISE COMING!!111".

As for AAA "industry", I checked out long time ago. Couldn't care less, been skipping like 99% of NuReleases. These games have 0 longevity anyways, basically HOPING for a quick dopamine fix and then you move on, whether the game even works or not to begin with. All those BIG games from the past.... 5+ years....and barely anyone brings them up, let alone play it.

Just playing old games like MK9 and couple RTS. I'm usually against DEMASTERS, but the Stronghold Definitive Edition "Remaster" is good. Price is right (dirt cheap), and it exactly how remasters should be..... fresh coat of paint, not changing content because current_year, and QoL updates. Been playing Multiplayer only and having a blast. When games are made with soul and improved by the original devs who worked on the game, that's all it takes.

If they'd do MK9 remaster like that, I'd be all up for it. But then someone dug up old MK9 behind the scenes videos, and just looking at the developers who worked on that game, and comparing to the current crop of talents.... Yeah, fuck MK9 Demaster. The people who made that game are long gone by now.

It's called PR for a reason. He's already teased more story and additional DLC so of course He's going to keep hyping it up. I just hope NRS doesn't milk MK1 for 4 years like MK11.

It wouldn't really surprise me at this point for them to also sell:

-New Year's Fatality
-Valentine's Day Fatality
-Leprichaun Fatality
-April Fools Fatality
-Cinco de Mayo Fatality
-4th of July Fatality

Considering the shit storm the last two DLC fatalities caused, I'm not convinced. Most people who care about that stuff normally wait for a ultimate (it's not in beta anymore!) version.

They could easily sell 2 more packages of 3 Seasonal Fatalities and the people would sadly eat that shit up.
Hell, when they back-peddled and said that the people who got the Halloween Fatality would also get the Thanksgiving and Winter one for free people were less pissed about it. Even saw some asshats trying to reason with it and give the benefit of the doubt by posting shit like "Well, it's only $3.33 per Seasonal Fatality instead of $10 for just 1 of them." :rolleyes:

Like I've said numerous times before. There will always be shills that will defend anything NRS does. I'm still not convinced that NRS made that much money off the Halloween/Thanksgiving fatalities. Most normal people that can rub two brain cells together are just going to wait or not bother. I did laugh at the Quan chi Kombat cast when Tyler says ''We're getting wifi filters and crossplay for consoles and PC in February!'' like really? lmao. It took SF6 winning at the VGAs for Best fighting game and TEKKEN 8 launching in January for NRS to finally get their shit together! It goes without saying but All these features should have been there day one! If anything they should be giving away all those seasonal fatalities as a apology but we all know that isn't happening.

I am actually willing to bet, there won't be crossplay for PC version. They also made a similar announcement for MK11 couple years ago. Made a fancy poster and even gave a date for it. Then changed their mind couple of days later.

Or... PC crossplay will mean between "Xbox Game Pass" and "Steam".
 
IDK but I doubt they have much of a choice with Tekken 8 most likely launching with crossplay PC/console right out of the gate. I'm sure NRS will find a way to F it up somehow.

I have a feeling that at least the Halloween one made enough money to warrant the other 2 being made (Thanksgiving and Winter), but being in a bundle definitely seems like a reaction to backlash.
Kind of like them saying "we didn't think that you would have hated being fucked over that much, so here's another 2 Seasonal Fatalities in that bundle to lessen the pain."
I sure as shit am not gonna buy that garbage with real money nor the Shao Kahn (Krampus), Reptile (Elf) and Kitana (Elf) skins. If they're in the Shrine and I can use my in-game gold coins, which are at nearly 2 million by now, then great.

I could see this happening too.
Pretty sure with Rocket League it was Sony or Xbox that didn't want to play nice with PC, but yeah, I could see an Xbox / PC thing given that there's also PC GamePass.

All my Midway OGs have been thru this before. MK is proven way to popular and profitable to go by the way side. All we can do is hope it falls into the hands of a team of devs and writers who actually cherish the lore as much as Tobias did.

See you guys on the other side. Hopefully we can meet up under better circumstances like a worthy entry into the series.
