MK11's new hero (protagonist)?

In all honesty, the whole Liu Kang / Cassie protagonist debate is very silly to me, especially in a game series where in MK9 Stryker (WITH NO SPECIAL POWERS) can beat the shit out of Reptile, Mileena, a 4-armed half-dragon (Kintaro), a guy possessed by 1,000 souls (Ermac) and a cyborg (Cyrax) with nothing but his bare hands, guns, grenades and a baton.

Are you all really trying to inject realism into a game series in which such impossible things are otherwise possible?

I guess.
It just seems to me that 2 fictional protagonist characters from the same series are on on the same level and have the same chances to beat the final villain.... because fiction.

Granted that we're discussing it from a series that allows us to freeze people in mid air, still. If the game wasn't as silly as it is, I'd like to know who would be the better fighter. Comparing a Shaolin Monk to a Militarized fighter, and what they have gone through to get to the top, who'd be more suitable to save the world and stuff.

Why not a new hero be a time traveler who is the leader of some resistance when the realms have been conquered and taken over? And I'm talking about the Pyramid time... but something else.

Why bring in a time traveler when we just had Raiden send a message to his past self to prevent a major catastrophe?

Time travelers are cheap throw ins to fix problems that the writers screwed up on. We're clearly experiencing one right now, we don't need another.

Agreed 100% with you Kitty_55, regarding a time traveler.

However (on a similar but unrelated note), I always also found Quan Chi to be a cheap throw in for dead characters, as well.
Sub-Zero and Jax died in MK9? No problem. Quan Chi can bring them back to life in MKX.
Kitana, Liu Kang and Kung Lao died in MK9? No problem. Quan Chi has their souls and they're now dead revenants working for him.
It'll be interesting to see what NRS does for MK11, now that Quan Chi, Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung are dead and Shinnok is incapacitated (for the moment), to say the least.

Arcade endings and intros are hinting Shang Tsung. They're literally saying "Shang Tsung is the bad guy of the next game!" I bet you Quan Chi, Baraka, or Mileena will be revived.

That can also be spun the other way around.
Arcade endings may also not be true.
I don't see a Shao Kahn possessed Nightwolf in MKX, nor is Havik in the MKX game (Noob Saibot's ending), nor is Noob Saibot in the game, nor is Sheeva in the game.

Besides, what does your straw-man argument have to so with my original comment?
Shang Tsung may or may not come back for the next game, but as of now Shang Tsung IS dead.
There's nothing inaccurate with that statement, as it is true.

Except arcade endings have nothing to do with the actual story.

Exactly.

That said, though, NRS has picked and chosen certain elements from certain endings from the previous games for the next game, but it doesn't necessarily imply that all endings are true, as TehPredator is implying.

I hope Sub Zero rides in on a dragon in MK11...

Is it sad that I found Sub-Zero's ending... "adorable"?

Like I really found it to be really cute. I want a dragon now because of his ending.

I dunno.
Sub-Zero is my favorite character, but when I saw his ending I was like "Soooooooo, Sub-Zero is now essentially Daenerys Targaryen?"
I was hoping that somehow he would be trying to finding his brother after the fall of Quan Chi and Shinnok, given that Kuai likely now knows that Bi-Han wasn't exactly being himself during the events of MK9, after being brainwashed by Quan Chi.

I take ALL of the endings to be non-canon from the previous game, unless stated otherwise in the following game.
