MK movie update/MK Legacy discussion

I think dark and gritty is perfect for mk. Most of the games were even like that. People seem to be torn whether to make it realistic or not though and although I would like to see it as fantasy like the first movie, I'll take whatever Kevin is good at doing. He seems to be better at directing the more realistic route. Maybe he can prove me wrong with season 2.

Dark and Gritty as well as realism is great, I love it IMO when it comes to movie adaptations of fictional franchises, but at least keep to the subject matter of the franchise instead of going off an a whole different direction.

Seems like the best way to appeal to the bigboy fans if you ask me. I'm tired of seeing the same storyline. I want to be surprised.

Basically what I meant to say was that Nolan's trilogy twisted the story to make it realistic, dark and gritty, but at the same time did not make it outlandish and completely different. That's what I want for MK, the realism, dark and grittiness, but not veering way off course.

Except it's clearly not the exact storyline from what Ive seen. I mean liu kang is kind of evil right off the bat, and I don't remember subzero and scorpion growing up together.

Ect ect.

Why though when you already know the story of it?

Some people just want to see a live action adaptation.

I've read books, then went to see the movie about the book. Same story, why?

Because it's cool to get a different outlet for the same story. I often watch anime then go read the manga.

They offer separate experiences.

I understand your side of the story man, and can't say that your view is a bad view cuz it's not. But IMO, if you want to be surprised, why couldn't they just take rebirth and make it a original film that just had a mk feel to it?

Why did the name have to be attached?

To me it's not mk anymore, therefore I can't enjoy it because it will always to me personally feel like a knock off.

This. Of course you need some originality, I mean no adaptation is based DIRECTLY off the source (Harry Potter as an example). But they have to stick with the subject matter that's already set for them.

I'm the same way with poke'mon and horror.

I want a super realistic scary version of haunter and others and have a game base around scaring you. A really dark and gritty version of pokemon, I even think a scary movie would be cool. But I can totally understand rage of the one time someone gets rights to make a live action poke'mon movie they waste it on the version Id rather have over canon.

So I understand where you're coming from.

I probably talked shit about this series more than anybody.

But Holy Shit, color me a fan. I wish I never doubted this director

It's the same director that did Rebirth, though.
If you liked him as a director for Rebirth, why would you doubt him on this?

I had some serious doubts for Kevin on the first season of Legacy because I hated the horror-esque MK adaption that he did with Rebirth, and hope that it never sees the light of day again.
He proved me wrong with the web series, though, and I ended up loving Legacy season 1.

Legacy season 1 was good.
Without season 1, we wouldn't have the precursor to the Scorpion killing Sub-Zero part in season 2.
The only one that I though was a bit "meh" was Johnny Cage's, but the rest were good.
