MK HD Kollection

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I think it's more than unfair to say that Midway wont get their glory days back because the HD Kollection wasn't released. That's really going too far.

Agreed, someone said it before, you can't blame Midway/WB/NetherRealm Studios for this because it was never officially announced by them.

I think I do blame them somewhat. If the game was announced, it would have changed a lot of things. Now I'm not saying they needed to give us a release date or anything, but I think their lack of acknowledging the game has caused a lot of controversy where there didn't need to be any. A simple, "Yes, an HD remake of the classic Mortal Kombat games is in the works."-type statement by WB would have been huge. Is that so hard for them to do? Even if the game ended up getting cancelled, that statement would still be true. Their PR people really dropped the ball on this one and I can't understand how it got to this point.

I am surprised no one from their department came across this. It was a big announcement back in late September. Wish I had an answer for this. This might be a stupid question at this point but has anyone tried contacting WB or Netherrealm about this game?

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

You'd probably have better luck trying to contact Backbone. They were ones that were supposed to be doing it, not NR.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

yeah ... or asked SONY why THEY listed it 2 days ago and removed only the links and not the complete address of the site????

...STILL NO UPDATE .... NOWHERE.. not even PSN!!!

.....waiting.....

Are we even sure Backbone was involved? I thought it was just a rumor, based on the fact that they did the PS3 version of UMK3.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I still think the game is being made. If it is not, they should decide to make it now! They should notice how populair it would be and how good it will sell. Come on idiots, give us something!

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

PSN Store just updated. No MK HD. No surprise, but it's now official that it WON'T be out today. 100%. Damn. :-p

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I say the only glimmer of a 1% spec of hope is this gets released as an expansion pack DLC with MK 2011 or as a second disc in a kollector's edition of MK 2011, which is slim because gamestop would be taking orders for a special edition by now.

This is definitely possible if the kollection is taking longer to make than expected, but because WB doesn't want to hurt each games sales, release it WITH MK9 for a higher price as a ultimate kollectors edition or something, in the $90 range. Which would help MK9 sales like crazy. They could make this edition exclusive to one store, (Walmart, etc) it doesn't have to appear in only Gamestop or in every store either.

In the "anything can happen" department of optimistic thinking: Prince of Persia HD will be released later today exclusively on PSN. It was rumored for some time and just announced by Ubisoft for US release yesterday. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Very interesting, and it does give some hope, but some new fears also.

The POP Collection started as a rumor at the same time the MK Kollection cover art was released. UbiSoft then stated a simple confirmation on October 5 that the game existed and would be released only in Europe in November. Then yesterday, Ubisoft makes a surprise announcement that it will be released today on PSN in North America as a download. So a very simple announcement can be unloaded on the public only the day before release, but obviously only as a download, since retailers must receive shipments days before, so word would get out.

But I don't want this to happen to the MK Kollection. I want it to be on disc, not as DLC. I want to buy the game with all 3 games on it, not buy the 'license' for 3 separate games. I will not buy POP series on DLC, but will be importing the Europe disc version of the POP collection since the PS3 is region free. Also Amazon tells me today that my Sly Cooper collection is shipping out to me - $38.99 total no tax. Compare this to POP Collection on DLC of $15 each for 3 games comes out to $45 plus tax. Also there's barely a chance of a sale of $3 off each game in the future on PSN, compared to a bigger and quicker drop in price for a disc based game.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I'm hearing that those who preordered the game with Gamestop have been receiving phone calls stating:

"Hello, we have been informed that the game "Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection" has been cancelled by the vendor."

Now obviously this sounds like a bad, bad thing. But, I don't think it should be taken out of context. I'm reading as informing those preorder customers that the game was not released today. I doubt a game would be "cancelled" via phone call from Gamestop. Now, of course, I could be wrong. This would actually explain a lot. Maybe Tim Static or someone else with knowledge can clue us in.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Gah.. I'm sorry guys, but this is ****ED UP. Honestly, they have been doin' us wrong since that whole timer deal on their website.
Now, what would be the harm in them officially coming out and saying something like "Sorry about all of the rumors, but the game has
been cancelled" or "Yes, the rumors are true there is an MK hd kollection, it will be released soon"? It's just making me more and more aggravated
that they play the whole "Oh well maybe. We'll just have to wait and see" card, and don't give us JACK on the supposed release date. No screenshot, no video, NOTHING. Plenty of people pre-ordered this thing in full. I say that we at least deserve some sort of recognition!

well you dont have to worry about DLC or anything else pertaining mk hd,its not REAL!ive been saying it for months!and not only did half the people here TRY and defend something that didn't exist, they made excuses for(like they knew or worked there)them.bottom line is this,it was never owned up to by NOBODY,somebody started the rumor and it ran wild, and for some weird coincidence retailers started reserving copies without sku numbers to get a jump on the competition.it was never licensed and if you wanna argue about PoP it had screen shots and it was announced in europe, tru enough they probally are working on it but i think for bonus content for mk9.i know sombody gonna say something back to me but remember this,if you dont have CONCRETE facts on this game its about as real as santa clause

Another reason the "rumor" ran wild is because Netherrealm NEVER denied it! They obviously are doing some sort of hd kollection type thing or they would've straight up said "No that doesn't exist" when asked about it. It was one retailer after another and then box art. I really REALLY doubt that it's fake after all that shit. Now, why they don't say anything about it is beyond me. But they are up to something and keeping us in the dark like this isn't a good plan imo.

I had a hard time trying to comprehend what exactly you wrote, but I think I got the gist of it. Anyway, talk to Mr. Patrick McCarron. He is the one who first broke the story, he has very reliable sources and has absolutely no reason to make stuff up. I believe him because I have no reason not to. If you want to call his bluff, that's up to you. Good day.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Not really, since technically the game doesn't exist until it's announced. Fans don't deserve anything about rumors. The MK Kollection has a LOT of evidence to it being real, but it is still a rumor until it is official by WB or Sony. As for the stores, preorders get their money back. It happens to every single game on every single system that is delayed. Just ask your local game store. Neither you nor this game are special.

If I make a rumor that Killer Instinct 3 is coming out, and it spreads, and soon fans are getting mad at Rare and demanding them to say something about a rumor - this is not how things work.

When 2 world leaders have talks, the public doesn't know if things went well or not until it is announced only by those 2 leaders. We can hear rumors about how it's going, but things could change drastically until the official announcement by them at the very end.

So just pretend this game doesn't exist until it's officially announced. Period. This is how every game that ever was in the history of video games has ever been. Only this time some people think that they're entitled to some type of confirmation of a game existing before it's officially announced, only because you love MK games. I highly doubt that WB wanted information to come out before a real announcement, but leaks DO happen. So just don't worry about the game until we here something official. Then it will be a nice surprise once this game is announced, as it could be released the day after, or a few months after, but it doesn't matter. No need to beat yourselves or NetherRealm up over rumors for now.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I feel entitled to an answer because, if this were a rumor.. Why didn't they outright deny it?

I just got my call 10 minutes ago, I called gamestop and they said its most likely cancelled indefinetly, and if its a delay it'll be a while before its re-announced. This exact same thing happened with Samurai Showdown Sen on 360, it was cancelled, I got the call and everything, then it popped out of nowhere 5 months later, so thats something to think about. It really looks like the only real hope we have is that this will be a huge DLC pack, or a 2nd disc in an $80-$90 collector's edition when MK 2011 comes out.
