MK Australia Banning Discussion

lol. of course they would say that. They'd rather you purchased a game from them and give them your money. Gamespot ran a similar article when lfd2 came out I think. Trying to play the "its unaustralian" card. To hell with aussie retail. The dollar and our economy is doing pretty damn good at the moment and consumers are likely to maintain this strong purchasing power for a long time. If domestic retailers can't be competitive, then I will spend my money overseas where you can virtually get anything for half price.

lol. Take this from someone who works in retail..

Re: Bad news for people that want to import MK9

Re: Bad news for people that want to import MK9

I feel your pain man,I wouldn't mind bringing the rest of the MK family, from there to live up here and enjoy some good old Mortal Kombat.

Re: Bad news for people that want to import MK9

lol at everyone freaking out over over this! I CANNOT WAIT to be playing this game in Australia on release date, and listening to evryone cry about it coz they're too pussy to order it in. You really think customs are going to go through everyones luggage looking for a game when they have other things like drugs and weapons to look out for? So EVERYTIME they see what could look like a game.. also any dvd that COULD look like a game theyre going to go through and check it?? Oh, and lets not forget ALL THE THOUSANDS of fines they gave out for importing in other banned games like Manhunt and Left for Dead 2 Uncensored. Yeah so many people paid 100,000 for that huh? Enjoy NOT playing it!

Re: Bad news for people that want to import MK9

Sarcasm btw, no fines were issued, none that I know of, and anyways, this new is OLD.

Re: Bad news for people that want to import MK9

oh my god! Im sooo sick of reading this shit!! bottom line is if you import it youll get it! 95% chance youll get it!!!!

CUSTOMS ARE NOT GOIN TO WASTE TIME! opening ****ing dvd sized parcels, once its scanned and they can see its a disk!, with the dangers of drugs, illegal pharmaceuticals, and weapons, etc etc

seriously you are all buying into this idiotic australian scare tactic! get it off ebay, get it off mighty ape, ****, even play asia have started shipping to aust again, coz the whole nation is a joke to the rest of the developed world! if you believe you will get this fine, its your own fault and you wont get the game...
Do you honestly think, the ratings board, or customs have even thought about this game again after RC'ing it..No its a job they move on to the next one... Customs are there to keep the country safe...Games are not a threat nor high priority to national security!, honestly grow up....

I mean, ask your self how is this game ANY different then any other game that has been banned in aust? and I can assure you I have gotten EVERY one of them!

how is it different from l4d2, dark sektor, gta4, silent hill, to name a few Rc games...ones that me an my friends all ordered and own.... and got them no problem.....

just chill people...if you wont it youll get it

completely agree..
everyone i've talked about this to has pretty much given up and saying there is no hope
unless they have 'mortal kombat sniffer dogs' then i think we'll be ok.. however, if cocaine is sprinkled on the disc then you might have a problem..
but just relax guys, if you order it.. you'll most likely get it without any troubles! this fine is just a way to scare people, they can't stop us all!

Re: Bad news for people that want to import MK9

Sareena:
It has been banned from late February, the appeal probably got denied
around 15/03. Fines only apply for people residing in WA, they are more likely
to be around $1000. The gamespot article is mostly ******** and scare tactics.
$110,000 fines may be applicable to mass importers with intention to resell the
game illegally.

Spader:
Don't pull percentages out of you're arse, it's misleading to the uneducated.

Drexl359:
Someone in WA received a $1000 fine for importing L4D2.

That all being said I preordered a copy. You all should do the same,
I highly doubt they can stop all copies from being imported. If I fail
the first time I will get someone overseas to replace the game
cover and reseal it in plastic and then send it. FAIL PROOF.

You guys should really head over to the other thread, it's about 15
pages long with a fukton of info for Aussies. Including where people
have preordered from and any correspondance between from the
retailers.

Re: Bad news for people that want to import MK9

I dont understand...surely they won't be searching imports/packages or bags for this one specific game, is the government in Australia this bored shouldn't they be doing more important things? I mean come on man...=/ feel sorry for my Australian brethren...

Yeah, I sincerely doubt they'll be searching for it, and if they are, then shame on them for wasting resources doing so when theres far more important places those resources could be spent.

Can you imagine the drama and confusion there would be though if they tried? I think the Mortal Kombat films are re-released around the same time aren't they? So people could be importing those as well, or importing some of the earlier not banned MK games while they're in an MK mood, and do you really think customs are going to be knowledgeable enough to know which Mortal Kombat is ok and which ones they are meant to be stopping? I dunno, I can see it becoming a huge mess if they try.

I just hope if on the very slim chance someone does get caught out for it and fined for it, that they fight it, in the most public way possible, and use it as a way to shine some light on the whole issue and the absolute ridiculousness of not having a suitable classification system for games, as well as then prosecuting adults who import games that are freely available everywhere else in the world (I mean its not like we're importing illegal snuff films or something here). I'm not usually the sort of person to make a fuss about things, I'm a pretty laid back guy, but if they try and take me to town for merely buying a mature rated game to enjoy in the privacy of my own home, then I'm gonna make some noise. Its not even illegal to own RC'd material in Australia, only illegal to sell it, distribute it or demonstrate it in public. So I can't see them having much of a case for prosecuting you over it unless you're importing a stack of them and they can prove you had intention to sell or distribute it.

yeah **** it, im going for it and buying the tournament edition hahaha
if i dont get it ill just flip at them i suppose, i should at least be able to keep everything that comes with it apart from the game if they are that fussy about it!
