MK 2011 Alt. Costumes: New or Retro?

I got the inspiration for this thread from the newly revealed pre-order retro costumes for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile, which made me think about there being a possibility that there might be other old-school alt. costumes for the other fighters as well.

If there are alternate costumers for everybody in the new MK game, would you rather have them be all-new ones, or retro ones from old games? Personally, it doesn'tmatter to me as long as we get some for every character.
 
I have a feeling that NEW alternate costumes are going to be UNLOCKABLE in the krypt and all the retros will be available as DLC.
 
I like having both to be honest. I love having at least 1 retro kostume for each character, but also love having 1 alternate kostume that depicts the character in a different way. I say the idea of having the alternates actually unlockable in game, and then having the retro as DLC for those who like that sort of thing, is the best way to go.
 
I voted "new", because I imagine "retro" means mk 1-3. Would like to see some MK:DA - Armageddon "retro" costumes though.

I agree with those sentiments pretty thoroughly. Throwback costumes are awesome, but it's always interesting to see the alternates that are complete departures from what we're used to. I'd really like to see Ermac with a classic ninja outfit again in addition to a "wow, what the **** happened here?" outfit.

If I had to choose one, though, I'd probably go for the retro costumes.
 
I like the original costumes... but Kitana, Mileena, and Jade can't be using the ugly costumes they had in MK2... That's not sexy :(
 
We aren't sure everyone's costume is going to be from MK2, although it would be a lot easier for NR studios. I'd like to see Sub in his MK1 and Scorpion in his MKu3 costume. The ladies could be in their MKu3 costumes,
 
Personally, even though it's likely gonna be some sort of pallette swap to make it easier for them, I'm hoping for these costumes as the classic ones for Sub and Scorp:

Even though the younger Sub-Zero debuted in MK2, I think most of us noticed it was a different one(from a visual standpoint) when using his MK3 outfit much more significantly. I still really like this design, and I am wondering why they haven't taken the unmasked approach as an alternate optional costume since MK:DA. Since they have done a good job at making each ninja like character look different and stand out from one another beyond just color schemes, this outfit was the first to truly do that. So I wonder why they completely abondoned it...I love me some masked Sub-Zero, but an unmasked with the scar would definitely make me happy as an option. So hopefully if it's not the classic costume, it's used in the game as an alternate outfit as it would play into the MK1-3 theme well.

For Scorpion it's a tough call because his look has varied greatly to a certain degree over the years. Even though the classic quilted pattern I find suites him very well, I still think this design screams Scorpion the most. Likely because he's the only one to use it after MK4, as Reptile, Ermac, Noob, and Rain all got new unique designs. So i'd like this to be his classic outfit, but I wouldn't be disappointed if it was just a pallette swap because it would still fit him well. Though for the actual in-game alternate attire, I am hoping for a flaming skull approach.
 
Im kinda in the middle with this. I would like to see alot of the original mk cast to with an update retro look. But some characters i think could use a new look in general.
