Lack of a Game Manual

I agree with the original post. I was disappointed with the no manual thing too.

We're paying good money for the entire gaming experience including reading through manuals.

Heck, even just having cool pictures of the characters and a short bio woulda been nice.

I understand most games come with tutorials now.... But it would be nice to see companies put a little effort in creating a decent manual.

I was also disappointed when cod mw2 came out, that was the crappiest manual ever.
 
I was a bit suprised at first by there being no manual, but I don't really miss it, and it makes sense. I'd rather have the information I need to know to play the game communicated to me in-game through a good tutorial than have to read a manual anyway. I would expect to see more of this sort of thing going forward, I mean I buy nearly all my PC games on Steam these days and they don't have manuals, so I wont miss them for my console games.
 
TBH I haven't read a game manual in years. The only time I would ever read the manual is when I'm impatient and open the game while still at the shops.

Seeing as I purchase my games online these days, the manual stays in the case.

same here. im used to 30 page manuals from the n64 days that give the back story and background on the characters. but now er'body trying to go green and stuff. oh well at least theres an in game tutorial

Besides, with the internet, that sorta thing isn't really necessary.

I agree but it does not act anything like an arcade game... like if I bought Tekken on the menu screen it feels like an arcade game and does a hole idle loop but this looks too much like a console game so unless they change the way it looks then they should have made a manual IMO...

Don't know how often you get new games, but manuals have pretty much gone the way of the dinosaur. I can honestly say that first the past 2 - 3 years, very few games that I've bought have actually had a manual in the box, and if it did have a manual, it was no more than 2, 3 pages MAX with bare minimum, basic information.

I have never bought a game that didn't have a manual. Guess I must be lucky or something.

lol I used to look through it once and never open it again as well. But still it would have been nice to have a complete manual, in spite of having all the moves listed in the game.

I was at first irked there was no game manual. Why? because nowhere on the software itself did it tell you the button combinations for Xrays and throws done easily for the Tournament Arcade Stick. Trying to reach up and over to hit those tiny buttons to activate it in the middle of a fight was insane.

So, I messaged MK_Mortalkombat on twitter and there *are* manuals, just they are on www.themortalkombat.com hidden at the bottom of the main page in grey lettering.

If its not an RPG game in reality there is no need for instruction manuals anymore. Im surprised most games havent just done away from them. Its the slow move to digital gaming

Right but that's why they want you to sign up at that website to track your stats.(aka "Webcode" in settings). Then again they have a tutorial on this MK. As far as the Tournament Stick using FP+FK for throws. FK+BK+BLK for X-ray.
 
Well at least the manual still smelled great!

I know damn well I'm not the only one who smells it.
 
I don't need it. I have the guide. I did get kinda mad that there wasn't anything in the manual. I always love looking at the things in there since I was a little kid.
