Kung Lao = BROKEN

Kung Lao is just easy to pick up like Scorpion. He's not overpowered. His moves are easy to read and his teleport is easy to counter. He's a good character in the hands of a good player, but not a good character in the hands of a bad player.

Kung Lao is the 3rd best top tier character. You know nothing to talk shit. Face a TRUE Kung Lao PLayer you will be trippin like dis dude that made the post.

The game has been out for less than a week, there is no tier list that's worth a damn yet. He is a very solid character though I agree.

He just has a small learning curve then other characters do, doesn't mean he's overpowered.
I am sure when others give the commitment to other characters they'll be able to perform just as well.

At the beginning of every fighting the people with smaller learning curves are always the ones mistaken for high tier cause their so easy to pick up.

kung lao is beatable... but just look at his tools... he will be top tier for a long time unless they nerf something...

i watched 2 tournaments yesterday, and the characters i saw were.... the most used were: smoke, kung lao, ermac, johnny cage, nightwolf and raiden --- sonya, kitana, kabal where used some, and then a couple ppl used like scorpion or jade for a match or 2, but got owned

kung lao won both tournaments -- the 2 grand finals matches were, kung lao vs kung lao -- and kung lao vs smoke

on both streams they were discussing tiers, and kung lao, smoke, ermac, raiden, johnny cage, nightwolf were all listed in their top tier, based on there moveset... both tournament streams said this, and the strategy guide says that as well

you just have to learn to deal with top tier characters... they are beatable... :-D just really strong characters

This is the most balanced game i've come across and kung lao isn't broken. Fix your block timing and learn how to play.

and in both streams, all the commentators were saying how people weren't properly punishing whiffed or blocked spin's, or not respecting a wake up spin, or jumping in and eating a spin. basically, they were making week one mistakes in a week one game. Give it time and you'll see people punish Kung for using spin at the wrong time.

Every character is "broken", if you don't push hard, don't recover properly and don't put heart in the competition, and let your oponent punish you as a "dummy training session".

This This This. I can't stress this enough. People need to stop making those stupid mistakes that is all. I'm sorry if I keep going to back bringing examples from SF but I've played that alot in recent years, more than any other fighter so it's fresh. People faced the same issue with Shoryuken characters in the early days. Random wake up SRKs, jumping on Ryu and Sagat over and over again (really?) etc... Eventually people learned how to bait those SRKs, how to jump at the right moment or not jump at all and work around the move by adapting to it and the gameplay itself.

Give it time people, believe me chances are with time Kung Lao won't be as good as he might seem right now.

He didn't seem broken, he seemed like an easy to pick up and use almost maybe top tier fighter who was aided by - as other posters have said - week 1 mistakes. And his teleport is fine come on people just uppercut him.

Are people watching Spooky's stream? See what Joe did with Haunts' Kung Lao? Exactly, do exactly that. It does help that Haunts dropped combos like crazy but still.

Grand Finals: Ermac VS Reptile. Whaddya know? People are gonna be crying about one or both of those after this stream.

Kung lao is a beast character. No one can argue he isn't, because hes a combo machine.

The only thing I don't understand is people saying his teleport is op.... I don't think so. I find it quite predictable, slow, and very punishable.

My opinion is that they should at LEAST decrease the range in his spin. Or make it easier to punish if blocked.

Make Kung Lao get dizzy when you block his spin, sort of like how Kabal gets if you block his Nomad Dash.

Yeah, I don't doubt Kung Lao will be nerfed, I just hope my favourite combos of his remain untouchable.

However, Kung Lao is a pure juggler. I doubt though that anyone can pull out a +50% combo that easily in a true match against a real player. His x-ray isn't that powerful alone by itself but it's perfect to perform into a combo.

His moves are pretty cool, however not all are op. His teleport is probably one of the slowest in the game, how can people say it's op? :| If you want a REAL op teleport, check Raiden. KL's teleport is easily avoiable. His diving kick is annoying, the thing they can do about it is to decrease its damage percentage. The same goes for his spin move. I don't think it's fair to change the effect of his spin, it's a powerful move yes, so but so is some of Noob Saibot's.

Seriously, if it's not Kung Lao, it'll be Raiden, then Cyrax, then Johnny Cage, then Nightwolf and so on... Everyone will get nerfed until someone considers Sheeva op. Seriously, deal with it.
