Kombat pack 3 official thread

On a side note, I think it's really awful for a game to take until a hypothetical THIRD DLC pack to make the game feel "complete".

Then MK4 face eater

KP3 is still the better way than SF4
I wonder how many DLCs SF5 will have (16 playable characters today is just awful)

I dunno about that.
It would have been nice to be able to earn some of the characters with koins, rather than having to pay for them as DLC.

Not to mention, if you pre-ordered MKX and KP1 and then decide to get KP2, you're looking (without getting 1 of the special edition pre-orders of the game, at the very least) at about $110 for just 1 game.
That's pretty absurd for 1 game, imo.

In the grand scheme of things, spending over $100 for a "complete" game is just absurd.
That's part of the reason why for KP2 I will only be getting EXACTLY what I want out of it; and even then, I still cringe a bit for feeding into the practice.

I miss the old days of actually spending time to unlock cool stuff in my games, rather than waiting for them to be "sold" to me for extra cash. $60 price tag for a "full game" is such a lie these days.

And to be more on topic with the original question: NO, I don't want a KP3. Next time I spend money on a MK game after KP2 will be on MK11.

MKX came with over 20 characters, each with 3 variations. That's a great roster and in any other console generation, would have been considered a "complete" roster. All these KP characters are bonuses, optional additions.

I already have KP1 and Goro, so KP3 + Triborg and maybe Alien is not that far for me. Still better than pay triple price for USF4 (SF4, SSF4, USF4). Byt yes, nowadays devs love this sh*t since people will buy anyway

I would rather have more characters and each only have 2 variations, instead of those shoved-in and unfitting 3rd variations so many characters have.

They're not optional additions for anyone who wants to get serious with the game, though, as you're at an automatic disadvantage (competitively speaking) if you don't get the characters.

It's not a disadvantage to me because I'm not a Pro FGC Tourney fighter, but "optional" depends on who you ask and it's subjective.

I'll give NRS $8 for 1 of the KP2 characters and 2 of the costume packs for the new characters, but beyond that if it's not Fujin they aren't getting anything else from me.

Makes no sense. NRS had no idea which variations would be useless, even with 2 some characters could have a useless one. And creating an entire character takes a lot more than creating a variation.

It isn't a necessity. Some pro players don't practice against dlc and do fine. Sure it would help to train against her, but you don't have to buy Tanya to read her frame data on TYM and know that she has armorable gaps in her strings.

Is that why they aren't calling Mortal Kombat XL a "Komplete Edition"?
Cause seriously, who are they kidding? XL is exactly that. So KP characters and goodies aren't so much optional anymore when they are sold in a nice "XL" edition. So, for anyone that bought KP1 and such before, they essentially payed "extra" for their version of a complete edition.

This is usually why I wait to purchase a game if it's normal practice that the game comes out later with a complete/gold/game of the year addition that has DLC added on for the same price as the original game.

It's called QA department and alpha/beta testing ^.^ But of course, that can only go so far...

There's a discernible difference between reading her frame data and actually fighting against her, though, and that's my point.
Sure, some may do good without practicing DLC just like some guitar players are naturally god-like virtuosos, but for the most part (as in everything) practice makes perfect.

The only free thing we get are skins that tags along in patches/updates. There's not going to ever be a free character no matter how many people want one so badly.

There used to be free unlockable characters in MK games, and they were unlockable via the Krypt.
The problem is that no one wants to grind anymore and everyone just wants to go on with the pay to win mentality, so you have NRS offering $20 to unlock everything in the Krypt and a paid amount of real money for easy Fatalities.
Forget putting in time to grind for stuff.
No, let's just sell everything at a set price, rather than offering it as part of the game.

Goro was on-disc, and I hypocritically let it slide because because I pre-ordered the game.
If we're going to call a spade a spade, though, then anyone who pre-ordered MKX (myself included) pretty much told NRS that it's Ok to have on-disc DLC.
So, as much as people wanted to b**** out Capcom for on-disc foul DLC practices for previous SF games, just about everyone here that pre-ordered MKX gave into NRS doing the exact same thing.

I did not say useless, I said unfitting. We've already discussed this, some Variations just feel out of place for the characters, at least imo.

For example, I would rather have Jade with 2 Variations than Kitana's Mournful and Tanya's Dragon Naginata Variations. I would rather have Noob instead of Scorpion's Inferno Variation. Like that.

I think what they tryed to do is to give every character a defensive, agressive and zoner variations, because tournaments.
But 2 variations per kombatant could give use more characters for sure.

Grinding in MKX sucks ass. You get practically nothing for winning online fights (the mode people spend the most time in) and that dumbasss Dragon King set isn't any better since you have to grind for it before you can grind with it.

My bad, I read useless.

Dragon King set wasn't too bad to get, imo.
The Brutality Kombat modifier and Test Your Luck / Kustom Kombat helped me to Level up each Faction to 50 within a few hours.
