Kombat Pack 2 Characters Revealed!

This is an interesting choice of characters......

- leatherface is underwhelming tbh, I just don't see what variations he could have other than 'chainsaw', he could switch his masks depending on the variation, but other then that........ Albeit, I said the same about Jason, and was pleasantly surprised, so I've got my fingers crossed.

- bo surprised me, I just hope they stay true to his character, MK never was a super serious game series anyway. If they make him darker and remove the toilet humour, he could be pretty good.

- triborg is really cool. I've never been a huge fan of the cyborgs, but I didn't dislike them. Presumably his X-ray is going to be all 3's abilities combined, same with fatalities. Very high hopes, but he has a stupid name.

- baraka-morph is risky. I'm down with it, but I feel that they will either make it a baraka reskin, or not acknowledge the tarkatan abilities enough. Hope that other variations it has a different host, so one will be baraka, another a shokan, and maybe a regular human or edenian. I don't really see a saurian having too much of an impact on the xeno, maybe a kytinn (I think that's how you spell davorah's race) could add wings or ovipositors, davorah did have a seemingly alien inspired brutality.

Overall, triborg looks awesome, xeno looks awesome, bo has potential, and leatherface should have been replaced with someone else, like ash or havik, especially since havik was the main villain in the comics. I don't really see the appeal for fujin, sareena, or a lot of the 3D fighters.

I'd love too see them revamp meat, he has such an interesting concept, no joke.
 
I still fail to see how Leatherface possibly fits. I mean Jason is somewhat immortal, Freddy has the dream powers and Predator has a lot of gadgets and what now, but Leatherface is a fat inbred hick with a chainsaw. Curious to see how they make him work.

Maybe he gets some super powers because of (insert crazy explanation here) or a magical chainsaw. Or maybe the MK-version of Leatherface is just a real badass.

Aside from Leatherface, I'm also pretty sure that not many wanted Bo Rai Cho in, either.
I'm willing to give him a 2nd chance, but most people in the past (even in this very forum), whenever Bo Rai Cho was mentioned for MKX were like "The fart and puke guy? No, thanks. Pass."

The only 2 that I could agree with you that people were asking for is Alien (for Alien vs Predator) and Ketchup and Mustard.
Even with that, though, Ketchup and Mustard didn't get requested as much as Fujin did, especially with Boon retweeting Fujin stuff and even trolling him in Cassie's "Selfie" Fatality.
 
Even though the cyborgs weren't as requested, I definitely feel like they appeal to and please more people. So they're still giving the fans (at least a larger portion) what they want.

Bo Rai Cho is definitely a weird choice, but honestly that's what makes me so excited for him. NRS must have a plan for the guy. It's like "Yeah, we could put in Noob Saibot or Fujin, but what we're thinking about doing with Bo is too crazy to pass up". There HAS to be a reason he got in over Fujin.

Cyborgs will appeal to the people that wanted more MK3 characters in but didn't get them.

I dunno.
I thought the same thing about Tanya and why she would get in over Fujin, and so far she seems "meh," imo.
Tanya didn't have anything that added any more to either MKX or the future of MK (IMO), other than being punching-bag side-kick like Rain and Sindel were.
Gameplay-wise, Pyromancer is good, but I don't care for the other 2 variations.
NRS could have done plenty with him, imo.
2 characters with 1 wind move each doesn't mean he can't be in.

Don't get me wrong, he's probably the only character that I'm excited for, over the other 3, but I still wonder what Fujin with an awesome revamp could have been like.

I know you bros aren't really tournament fighters and all but do you think the KP2 extends the game's life?

I got this weird feeling that Bo and Triborg are gonna be the best of the two with Leatherface being like Jason when he came out (a beginner player's pick) while Xenotarkatan(?) being a good mid-tier.

What disappoints me the most is that NRS plans on slow-rolling the characters again. They have to, for the sake of the weekly towers. It will be a huge fail if they try to do these cats a month at a time again, because that means whoever is last has to sit out Evo. I'm hoping for weekly, or at most, bi-weekly releases of characters for this almost one year old game.
 
Aside from the competitive scene, I'm also wondering how WB / NRS plans to use Kombat Pack 2 to compete with SFV or if they're even bothering to compete with SFV, at this point.
I wonder what their marketing strategy is in going up against SFV's February 16 release date.

KI Season 3 will be in full swing during that time too. I really hope WB knows what they're doing

If they start in January shouldn't they be okay?

Jan: Leatherface (whenever the hell the new movie releases)
February: Bo Rai Cho
March: Xenomorph
April: Triborg

Evo doesn't happen till June or July meaning they won't be banned from the tournament. Even if they started in February they would still have time. But that wouldn't be wise since SFV comes out during February.

Also, trust that NRS will add a skin from the new Leatherface movie cause, profits :barf:
 
I don't think KI season 3 will be that much of a threat to MKX
hasn't it's scene occasionally been dwarfed by MK often ever since it came out? even after season 2 was complete

I really doubt they'll start in January. We probably wont get our hands on the first character until March. You know how much they love to cocktease
 
Then NRS has brought shame on their families.

Honestly, it would be THE DUMBEST move if they did it in March. They don't want MKX to be like MK9 when it only ran two years (I think) at EVO and that's it.

NRS has to shake that two pump chump mentality if they want to compete with other fighting games in the tournament fighting scene
