Kombat Pack 2 Characters Revealed!

PC players are let down by WB constantly so why not this time? And it's another milking move by NRS. I saw it coming so I tried to lower my own expectations about KP2. Alien was an obvious choice since people were crazy about the Predator and NRS wanted to create an opportunity for AvP. I can accept that. But it's effin Mortal Kombat, damn it! Leatherface? Another horror kharacter? GTFO!

Tri-Borg is the only one that I'm slightly interested in. I was fighting Mournful Kitana just the other day and I was wondering how cheap it was to include Jade this way as NRS probably had no viable idea for a third variation. And then it hit me: if they were to include any Cyborgs it would be a 3-in1. One can argue the lack of effort again: three estabilished kharacters, fan favorites even with own move sets so they saved the creative effort. On the other hand, it would be lame if they share kombos so it triples the effort to change everything for each of them. My bet: they will share majority of the kombos but each will have 3-4 unique kombos and unique special moves. But what about X-Ray move and fatalities? If Tri-Borg is a cyborg that can mimic Cyrax, Sektor and Robo-Smoke but will do the same X-Ray and fatalities that will kill the whole thing for me.

Bo Rai Cho is at least a new addition but Fujin would have been better. Bo was merely a supporting character, but that being said where was Fujin during the final chapters of MKX story? I can't think of anything else but NRS had no idea what to do with Fujin. Raiden is The Master of Storms and they can't think of anything else besides the obvious Wind-theme. So they opted for Bo instead.

I had almost zero hype for KP1. Jason patch was so bad on PC that I couldn't even play it. Tanya was interesting because I liked her variations especially Dragon Naginata. Predator looked and played kool but I'm still not a fan of guest kharacters or movie monsters. Then along came Tremor. I had no idea who he is but Tremor is so well-developed and kool that he became my main. That's the only reason I won't give up on KP2 prematurely. I hope that NRS will surprise me with something kool even if these kharacters are very far from my liking.
 
Ok here’s my personal and biased opinion about KP2.

Two more guest fighters? Can’t say I was expecting that. One would’ve been fine but two really seems to a bit too much, especially with all the MK characters they could’ve chosen instead. Looks like we can expect that 2/2 split for all future Kombat Packs from now on.

With the Predator already in the game, the Alien was perfect. Making it a Tarkatan-Alien was unexpected but cool. My only worry is that this is basically Baraka with an alternate skin and not a vicious and agile beast like the real alien.

As many have already said Leatherface feels like an odd choice. Did we really need another slasher movie villain in this game? And why him? He really isn’t the most original or famous one. If they really wanted another serial killer, they should’ve chosen Pinhead instead of another big guy with a mask.

I like Bo Rai Cho, so it’s cool that they included him in this KP. Post-Mk3 characters need more love. Not much else to say.

And finally there’s Cyber-Chameleon aka Tri-Borg. A pretty big disappointment. Maybe if they give him a good backstory and a realllllllly good ending…. Nah who I’m kidding. That guy is just a small compensation to all the Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax fans who miss their favorite(s) and will never ever appear again unless they’re making another Armageddon.
 
Im little bit worryed about Tri Borg.
Cause they need to be with different move sets.
If not then i dont wanna know how they mix up Sektors and Cyraxs styles.
Its only real when they have own sets and style.
 
I am confused. All this talk about the casuals, but do you really think they will go back to a game that will be 9 months old to dish out 20-30$ ?? Shit fallout is out now, on top of a lot of big games since Mk. (MGS, The witcher, Batman) I'm sure most casuals sold the game by now, because a fighting game doesn't have much replay ability to them.

Also this KP, leatherface??? Who the fuk is that, never seen a movie with him before.

Leatherface (from Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is way more famous here in Brasil than Predator. I only knew who Predator was cause of that Alien vs Predator movie... but only discovered he had a movie of his own after MKX haha.
 
I had to go on these other forums to see reactions... Holy shit do people feel like they're entitled to everything. All I see is "waa casual fans get everything while us hardcore get nothing!"

Pfff grow up people. It's absolutely astonishing how people feel that Netherrealm Studios betrayed them because Fujin and two other "deserving" characters were replaced by two guests... Er, one and a half guests and a combination of three characters in one. It's so mind boggling how selfish a lot of people are being right now and I can't stop laughing at this. People are acting as if Netherrealm just murdered puppies and kitties for the hell of it.

Freddy was the most sold DLC right? Weren't people asking for a horror pack after that? Nothing but selfish greedy people who feels that they've been betrayed by a company who has been listening to them from the start. Stop salting everywhere and just get over it.

But didn't we already get a horror pack? I don't even think it's a case of people not getting their favs or not getting Fujin. It's more that these guests seem to be coming at the expense of Mortal Kombat characters. Firstly, I'm all for Bo Rai Cho getting another shot, but with the inclusion of the other 3, my excitement for Bo falls down the ranks. We've got Jason and Predator. Did we really need Leatherface? I see people mentioning it being a tribute to the actor who played him, but would a Leatherface tower or even a guest battle in a Tower not have sufficed? We could have properly had Baraka back, but they tampered with him and made an Alien/Tarkatan hybrid, essentially giving us another horror guest character. The tri-borg could also look like a lazy justification for pleasing Smoke/Cyrax/Sektor fans by pretty much throwing out a Cyborg Chameleon

I just hope a Storymode Kombat Pack is being planned or something. You're shocked at how salty people are being, but if you're seeing negativity everywhere you look, that's an issue on their part for not pleasing the fans. Casuals excitement doesn't last as long as the fans. I notice Boon hasn't responded either. The only place i've seen glimmer of happiness with KP2 is in youtube comments

As someone who has lurked every Mortal Kombat forum since the days of the deadly alliance, I can honestly say that negativity runs rampant through this fanbase. I can't blame Ed Boon for trolling as much as he does, it's what I would do too if the fans of my life's work were as entitled and whiny as this.
 
...come to think of, they could make a game with only the guest characters. Can you see it?

"Terrordro...I mean, KP vs WWE Immortals" or something...
 
The horror pack that's just skins for four characters? Eh, I guess if you want to count that.

But don't you think it's a little silly with the amount of overreaction to this announcement? It's just one and a half guests. I'll admit I was skeptical at first but then I re-watched the trailer and realized what I was looking at really isn't that terrible.

I'm sure Netherrealm Studios and Warner Brothers are reading every comment sent to them, I'm sure they're aware that you have a lot of angry fans. I just think this reaction is a little too much.

And to that, I call bullshit. Fujin was among the most requested characters for KP2, not only on fansites, but on social media as well. The fact that he was ignored DESPITE that tells you exactly how much WB and NRS were really listening to their fans the whole time. Looks to me like they were only listening to WB stockholders.

So all the WB stockholder are Bo’ Rai Cho fans?

They had two spots reserved for MK characters. One of them could've been Fujin instead of Bo' Rai Cho or Tri-Borg. NRS, for some reason, decided against him. Why don’t know why, but I’m certain most stockholders couldn’t care less about the MK roster as long as they get a nice profit.
