Kitana Thread - "You'll Learn Respect!"

Mash d1 and as soon as it hits square boost.
EX pretty kick works pretty well on wake-up, I believe it has a couple frames of armour aswell, just lash out with that and get out with the square wave.

I wish I would have saw this before last night. I got tortured in the corner while on Kitana by a few spammers. I was pissed.

Highs are moves that are blocked by standing block, Lows are moves that are blocked by crouch blocking. If you have trouble figuring out whether a move hits high or low then go to the practice arena, when you hit the CPU, it will say either 'high', 'low' or 'medium'. By the way, medium=overhead.

Lol, I was aware of this and I still get beaten in the corners. I find it so hard to time my wake-up attacks right and then, when I do get the timing right, I fail to EX the move! I blame the lag though :P

Yeah I know how you feel, the only low she has is the second hit in (F+4, B+4). It is a nice, albeit short combo string that most people don't know how to defend against though, and it's made even better if you mix it up with her overhead starter (F+4,1...combo of your choice). Kitana also has another overhead, the second hit of (B+1,2) which has great range and will catch turtlers off guard.

Wake up attacks always fail me, The opponent always jumps over them or pokes me to cancel any kind of move and then follows it up with a string of lows and highs to get a high 20% combo ...... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!

Thanks for this. I'm tired of seeing new posts on this thread talking about Kitana's look/style. If you people got any questions about Kitana's gameplay and or tips/suggestions, feel free to post here.

Lol, If you have someone who's constantly jumping over you or even if they are constantly rushing you, EX Fan lift is the best way out and it'll set up a free combo. The EX pretty kick should go through the pokes because of the armour, you just have to read your opponents patterns.

If anyone is looking for some Kitana Vs Kitana fights on XBOX then add me (Bon3s1990), I would love to see where I stand against you guys here.

I sent a FR just now.

On another note I was playing a match with Kitana yesterday, I got knocked to the floor and when she got up her crotch cover (I don't know what it's called) was stuck in the ground. The further I moved away from where it was stuck, the further the crotch cover stretched until the guy I was facing jumped on it and it went back to normal.

I just thought that was pretty amazing story to tell.

Anyone has tips playing against Sindel or Liu Kang?


EDIT more like I need tips for playing against character who have low hit strings.. switching between high block and low block can only do so much

Sindel, along with Reptile, have been the hardest to beat for me, I haven't had the chance to play a lot of them but everytime I have I've been beaten badly or only just stole the win. You have a good chance against Sindel if you can get in on her and don't let her escape. Watch for the wake-up attacks, every Sindel I faced has done a wake-up with the Kartwheel. That's all I have for her, maybe check the Sindel thread here, someone must know the best way to beat her.

Liu Kang is annoyingly fast with his combos but easily defended if you see his pattern. I'd suggest going into practice with Kang and using his two combo starters (2,1,3) and (3,2,1) so you can get used to what they look like, that way when you see it online you will be able to know the best way to defend them. I'd also suggest trying to keep Kang out of close range by using (d+1), it will knock any over eager opponent backwards and make them think twice about rushing back in. From their it's all about using Kitana's awesome range to get those hits in, Her (F+2,1) starter is great for catching people of guard, another combo that always works for me is (F+3,1,Pretty Kick), it's short but people don't seem to block it.

You can also interrupt Liu Kang's 2,1,3 if you catch it on block, with d1 of course. Example: Liu Kang hits you with 2,1,3 while your blocking (assuming your Kitana), once you see Liu Kang hit 2,1 let go of block but stay ducked and mash d1 to interrupt his string.

Thats a pretty cool find, I guess I should be poking while in pressure more... but how will you follow it up? I always find myself thinking about what to do after the D+1 but I have no clue

It depends on the situation. I like to hit them with d1 and then either do a block string, sweep, iAF, Grab. It all depends on how the Liu Kang player reacts to the interruption, lol.

Requirements for combo shown in video:
-Opponent in the corner.
-Kitana 3/4 to fullscreen away.

Inputs for combo shown in video:
58% - aaFan (both hits), Fan, iAF, Fan, Fan, iAX

Other unbreakable Xray combos:
45% - aa2~Fan, iAF, Fan, iAX
45% - b2~Air Fan, Fan, iAX
