Re: how do you rate koth matches?

Generally i'll throw out ten's coz i'm a trophy whore and a respectful guy but if someone's bein a douche then the score drops lol

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

I give 10's rarely.
I don't base it on the match, I base it on the way the winner plays. If I'm bored (usually sub, noob, scorp, smoke) I don't rate them at all or give them a low ranking, unless they actually impress me.
If somebody plays with a low-teir or unpopular character and win, highish ranking.
Other than that, I don't watch matches since most people play with the same characters.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

Ten. Every time. No matter what. Because I'm a sweetheart.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

My motive is also entertainment, but it's rare for me to rate someone below 5. Unless it's something like a kung lao just spamming dive kick against a newbie. Anyway, I haven't played many KOTH matches because my connection is not THAT good, I think, since most of the times I can even enter the match. But what I have seen the most is people giving 4-8 and sore losers who give 0-3.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

Average bland fights I give a 5, and here is pretty much how my rating scale goes:

Added points for: Good combos over 40%, good reaction punishes, good sportsmanship, using a character other than Scorpion or Ermac, etc.

Deducted points for: Constantly spamming special moves, no combos, using Scorpion or Ermac, whining on the mic, playing like a douche, abusing broken elements of the game, glitches, etc.

I'd say most of the time I rate people about a 6-7. Also to the people who always rate 10's, you're not doing the good that you think you are. Ratings would help encourage people to get better so they get rated higher. If a noob wins and gets all 10's they won't feel a need to progress their game at all.

Thank you for that last part. VERY true

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

10s only for my friends and i rate the rest as follows from 1-4 ok 5-10 great matches. and 0 only for spammers.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

8 or above for people who beat me unless they are spamming or being a douche. 10 for a good teeth grinding fight and a fatality (or babality).

Re: GOOD Online KOTH Matches

Are you using a Dazzler? If so that's not bad quality at all trying to figure out what to buy to record mk vids with. You don't need a HD PVR for just recording a fighting game my opinion, id hate to haft to spend near $200 for one of those (well I wouldn't).

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

A 10 is a down to the wire, winner has 1% health left fight. A 1 sided thrashing gets a standard 5. The only time I go below 5 is when you have two turtles blocking it out.

Screwing up a Fatality is grounds for point deduction. Spammers get a standard 5.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

hmm, makes me wonder how you would rank a decent noob saibot player, since a good player of noob tends to spam :P

not saying im a good player with him, still learning. but ive already come to realize that his shadowclones combined with his low damage midfield combos (and that nearly all his combos sets the opponent at mid to far from noob) means i pretty much bait them with charge/slide clones. I may change it up and make a push for the corner however, his combos are still not that impressive in the corner, but they look brutal.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

Noob is somewhat of an exception, as he is real efficient at chipping away at you with a lot of fast moves.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

I give out 5's for so/so performance.

I give out 0-5 for really crappy, cheap performance. Spamming will land you here.

I give out 6-9's for good performances.

I reserve 10's for clutch victories.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

I rate on whether the players have used complex combos, plus I'm more likely to rate high if the match is fast-paced and both players look evenly matches.

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

Weeeeell, generally you have to base the "rep" off the Winner to Loser ratio in skill. It's IMO one of the only fair ways to score. Otherwise, I only rate 10's, 5's, and 1's.

A good mix of killer combos and a great defense against a spammer or person of equal skill gets a ten from me! People who just chip health with small hits and block the entire time get 5's. And glitchers like people who abuse Johnny Cage's Xray Glitch get firm 0's!

Re: how do you rate koth matches?

I try to rate overall performance and style. Even a Noob or Smoke player can be good fight.

I value defense, combing, dodging and timing. I like players who play versatile and adaptive style. I like players who change characters even more. Usual score 6-9 (depends on many things).

I dislike players who pick only Scorpions and Smokes and repeat same pattern over and over. Skilled player who uses this style to beat everyone is even worse. Some players are good in overall combat but play the easiest way. Usual score 4-7.

I try to avoid lowest rating, most players do not deserve it. What I hate most are players who lose a good fight and give opponent 0. These people suck and I rate them considerably.

Rating 9-10 is reserved for real awesomeness, skilled player with honorable style, good match even if my butt is kicked as hell.

Note: I am not an awesome player, I consider myself a MK geek but I am no pro (too old already, slow and busy to train enough). But I shall give nothing freely to anyone.
