Jax's Story (could something bad happen?)

Has anyone else noticed that his mechanical arms are no longer bionic implants but complete replacements for his arms? What could this mean? Perhaps a fatal incident with the Black Dragon resulted in a brutal injury? Or perhaps Jax has become too confident in the power of SCIENCE! and had his arms surgically replaced?

Could it be that he might become completely converted into a cyborg by the end of this game? You may laugh at that possibility, but it has been mentioned by Ed Boon that we may see "someone" turn into a cyborg who was not before (which did not even go as far as to say only Lin Kuei!). Also consider Jax's Armageddon and MKvsDC ending...

It wouldn't be the first time a member of a faction is converted to another side. Cyrax, for example. Perhaps it will become a reversed situation with Jax and he will be forced into submission by the Lin Kuei? Or perhaps he loses his humanity after converting too much of himself into machine, preparing for Shao Kahn?

Thoughts?

I don't think they will turn him just because he is the only really good African American character. He is pretty much their token black guy and they have already pissed some people off going so negatively stereotypical in some games. To cover him up completely cyborg and take away the strong black male character imo would be poor choice and would alienate some fans.

I think it would be a welcomed plot twist. One that would add to the desired dark mood of this game. I do agree with you that he is an iconic character, but that's all the more reason to give him a distinguishable story.

Maybe somewhere down the road, I can see this happening.

I really don't think the MK team gives a shit about that sort of thing.

I highly doubt he would turn evil. However, eversince his reveal, I have assumed this time he will be a cyborg. It's obvious his arm covers are permenent, as the skin rolls up where the metal starts, and tubes connect from them into his neck. It's also rumored that he has cybernetic legs as well. So yeah, I think it's pretty clear he's a full on cyborg this time around. I haven't thought of why he's this way, but a couple ideas I had was that he either does it voluntarily to become a military super soldier, or he has some sort of encounter with the BD or something where he's injured. I don't think the Lin Kuei has anything to do with it.

I personally don't mind what comes about with Jax. He really turned out, in my perspective, a really crappy character. Hopefully whatever they do with this guy will be better then what they have been in the past. I mean I really thought he was a cool character when he first debuted, but ever since, his character to me went downhill.

Just make something interesting come about and I'll like this character again. Have an unsatisfying ending or whatever, then forget it. He's not a bad character, but he's just too dull.

I'm pretty sure when they said that someone was going to be converted into a cyborg, they didn't mean simply limb replacements, but a serious conversion similar to that of Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke.

I used to think they would kill Jax during the new timeline, just like they did with Johnny Cage before MK3.

And THEN, during his return, he'd be like "my power will increase tenfold. This time I'll win", but I dunno.

All they said was cyborg, and cyborg means anything that's part robotic. Nowhere did they say "cyber ninja" or full on robot...nor did they hint at it. they just said cyborg. They were vague as to let people start speculating and jump to conclusions just like with people who thought Sub would be one.

To me, nobody is gonna turn into a cyborg because thats another "Zombie Liu Kang all over again." I highly doubt Jax is gonna die because MK would be shit without Jax and come on Jax is MK's best black guy whether you like it or not meaning he is more memorable over Jade (I like her a lot lol), Kai (He looks cool and I don't understand why people won't give some chance to fix up his personality), Cyrax (He is black but since he is a robot now, he is just a robot lol), Tanya and Darrius. Jax looks cool in the new MK game and plus he should stay the way he is! Think about it! He would give most black fighting game characters a run for their money too!

I am pretty sure they know better than to put out obvious implications and play that game with us. As true as that might be, I think it's obvious that they've always had some original plan that they probably merely tweak, stealing ideas from fan forums.

Only rarely does Ed Boon make statements that have obvious implications and does not follow through. It's rumors that are usually spread by others that are not followed through.

I can say that in the context of which it was mentioned about someone becoming a cyborg, they obviously meant to something similar to the Lin Kuei automation (so much so as to lead us to assume they meant solely Lin Kuei). So far, with what facts have been distributed, these possibilities said by Ed Boon and Hector Sanchez conform with what has been said. They want MK to be darker and have twists this time around. This could be a good opportunity to do so.

I remember Hector Sanchez said in one of his presentations in Mexico (I think) that this game was going to be like taking all of the best elements of past MK games and amalgamating them into a nice, neat, little package. When you consider how they have portrayed his "attachment" to his new arms and his attitude of further mechanizing himself in the face of future threats, it's not too far off to consider that this will be their direction with Jax.

I think if this were to happen to him, it would also conform well with what they have said. Apparently, Sektor has the ability to implant chips/ bug into other technology (which he did to Jax), so it wouldn't surprise me if this were to happen during the time he was still under the control of the Lin Kuei.

I've got to admit that I thought his skin going over the metal arms, was weird at first.
Between that and the tubes going into his neck, something's up with Jax.
A partial cyborg conversion is making more and more sense.

It seems like a decent idea but having Cyrax who is already black and a cyborg would make it seem a bit redundant to me.

Would multiple WHITE cyborgs be alright, though?

If you don't get my point then I'll break it down for you. With the limited black characters they have I do not find it necessary for them to all be cyborgs. No racist sub-tones, just an obvious observation.

Check your first post. That's not how you came across. It blatantly says that because there's another black cyborg, it would seem redundant.

Whatever. Doesn't matter.

They way it's described in this thread is very convincing, but I just cant see them making jax a full robotic cyborg.
