So, my upbringing is reflected through my own choices and opinions as a man? I'm sorry to tell you this, sir, but what I say does not mean I was conditioned to believe anything. You don't know anything about me. What I express is the product of my own mind, not my upbringing or surroundings. I am far from homophobic. I've never heard that it was wrong to use the word "gay," especially considering the fact that many men identify as "gay." You're championing this "homosexuals should be in video games" cause and for what? Just because? You've refused to answer my question about what it would add to the game, which gives me the vibe that you know it would not add anything. Furthermore, you talk about victimization but can you really say that? I guess we're going to put gay "persecution" on the same level as African Americans being shot by police, refused service, and beaten in public, right? You can't even compare the two. As a Canadian from Thunder Bay, I have to say you're quite the silly person. Last but not least, Mortal Kombat is fictional. It is not real. People play it to get away from reality or the stress of their life. Why do you want to stick homosexuality into it?
PS~ Nothing about you blows my mind. You're typical, junior.
"So, my upbringing is reflected through my own choices and opinions as a man?"
Yes.
"I'm sorry to tell you this, sir, but what I say does not mean I was conditioned to believe anything."
We have all be conditioned to believe certain things during our upbringing and as a result of the culture we find ourselves in. A bit naive, this one.
"You don't know anything about me."
Correction, I don't know anything about you in person. I know plenty about you as a poster - based on your posts - which is exactly what I'm reacting to. Your posts are hateful and misguided, and if you don't want that to be how we associate with you as a person, perhaps you should utilize different tactics outside of ad hominems and telling people to kill themselves.
"What I express is the product of my own mind, not my upbringing or surroundings."
Again, naive, but to humor you, if that's true, it's pretty scary. However, so far you've demonstrated nil in terms of understanding the opposing argument (as you constantly slip into straw men). If you aren't educated on the opposing argument, then your own beliefs are pre-set and illegitimate.
"I am far from homophobic."
You aren't doing a very good job of demonstrating that through your posts. It's like the guy who says he's not racist because he has a black friend, and then goes on to make a racist joke. And even though this doesn't apply to you, as you are quite evidently homophobic despite your delusional insistences to the contrary, it is possible to live within a system of homophobia/racism/sexism without having overt homophobes/racists/sexists.
"I've never heard that it was wrong to use the word "gay," especially considering the fact that many men identify as "gay."
As I'm sure you're aware, but it depends on the context and manner in which you use it. You blatantly used the word as a pejorative, as do many others, and to deny otherwise is just plain dishonest on your part. Homosexuals have the right to self-identify as "gay", they spent year re-appropriating the word to rid it of negative connotation and its use as a pejorative. There are many other words that exist like this as well, as I'm sure you're aware.
"You're championing this "homosexuals should be in video games" cause and for what? Just because?"
Another straw man.
"You've refused to answer my question about what it would add to the game, which gives me the vibe that you know it would not add anything."
I haven't refused to answer anything, because this
again wasn't my argument.
"Furthermore, you talk about victimization but can you really say that? I guess we're going to put gay "persecution" on the same level as African Americans being shot by police, refused service, and beaten in public, right? You can't even compare the two."
You're inventing a false equivalence where no one else has. Persecution and oppression is not meant to be compared as to which is worse, they are both terrible.
"As a Canadian from Thunder Bay, I have to say you're quite the silly person."
Not sure what this adds to anything. Your ad hominem doesn't even make sense in the context of you being a "Canadian from Thunder Bay".
"Last but not least, Mortal Kombat is fictional. It is not real. People play it to get away from reality or the stress of their life. Why do you want to stick homosexuality into it?"
Again, this is where you overt homophobia shines through. The question is why would a homosexual character add stress to your life? Why would it make you feel uncomfortable? What if I told you the heterosexual relations btw Sonya and Johnny made me feel uncomfortable? Should we get rid of it? And what does the fictional aspect of it has to do with anything? This entire last sentence of yours just helps prove my entire point.
"PS~ Nothing about you blows my mind. You're typical, junior."
You're racking up the ad hominems. You realize they don't actually help your argument, and only help to further give us insights into your personality.
