Is having rain In the game that Important?

wish Boon could be clear and announce him in the first DLC pack.. so far it seems kenshi and skarlet are the two picks. unless they hold Rain for a surprise :D can't wait to see how he'll turn out to be, in this game I like all characters, even the ones I hate like nightwolf or stryker. somehow everyone looks pretty awesome in the new game, my hopes are quite high for Rain :D
 
Rain is the only water based character . And maybe they can give him new powers that add more water to it . Thats why I personally love him . Rain and Ermac = My Team

actually dude, he can't. he's the only normal character along with robot Smoke that was left out and Smoke exists as human, so basically.. THE ONLY NORMAL FIGHTER OUT :( :P plus, if they really release kenshi and skarlet first and Rain in the second DLC pack or worse, fans will get more pissed. he's the most popular choice for DLC in here, MKO, twitter etc etc by far

You guys read my whole post, right? I don't think I disagree with either of you. I just think they need to flesh him out more. Which they will. They have with everybody else. Like you said, Matt, they did it for Ermac too. That's why I brought Ermac up in the first place. I'd love to see Rain treated with the same care and spirit of diversity as he was.

What I don't want is a plain purple ninja.
 
The people who doesnt like Rain is because 2 things.

1 - They dont like him, but this are a small part of the group that doesnt like him.
2 - Most of the people that dont like him is because they didnt play Armageddon, and in this game Rain appeared with his cool water powers, in this game he got personality.
 
Rain already had water power in UMK3. His paralyzing ball is water isn't it? I always thought it was, it looks like it. That's a special move that I definately want back. That and his SUPER-FANTASTIC-BAD-ASS kick. One of my favourite moves in any MK, so much combo potential there.
 
speaking of moves, I hate how they gave the lightning move to that dumbass nightwolf. I hope Rain will have his lightning move and it will look different and a lot better than nightwolf's. :P one of my favorite fatalities ever is the lightning one of Rain, hoping to see this in the new mk as well

I hope Rain's move being only a lightning, not a cloud creating it, it looks stupid, in nightwolf is ok because he "summons" the lightning but in rain it has to be just a lightning because he creates it.

I meant that he was simply a palette swapped ninja with a random assortment of moves. If you read my posts, you'll see I'm all for having him in. I just wish he's as fleshed out as the other characters, but still as fun to play as he was in MK Trilogy.

Like, for example, when they decided that his abilities were to manipulate the weather, they took away his aroung-the-world back-kick and his floaty lifty projectile move. The only move he retained was his lightning attack. His new moves, such as that water spray attack were a bit boring, and not very fun, and didn't do much in the way of setting up attacks.

I'd want his moveset from Trilogy, but fleshed out and visualized in a way that's consistent and makes sense.

People on this particular thread seem to think he's flawless. But let's be honest with ourselves, he's made with a handful of recycled sprites. You saying you don't want more story and personality invested in one of your favorite characters?

I look forward to the inevitable Rain DLC release. Stoked to play as him, and I hope he still has his round-the-world kick, and that it's visually conveyed in a way that makes sense for who he is.
 
Meh... I can see why the left him out. He's not a big deal, AND a lot of people want him. And the people who aren't die hard rain fans'll think, "Oh cool, it's like if Scorpian had weather powers, I'll buy that". Sooo, perfect DLC candidate.

I'd probably buy him when he comes out for DLC, but I sure as heck didn't shed any tears for his absence.

No, he should have his Trilogy ones because MK9 is a back to basics MK. Or dare I say, he can have Trilogy + Armageddon moves with no problem.

Ever played with Rain in UMK3? 'Cause that was his best movelist by far and one of the best in the game. To say he shouldn't have them, I guess you didn't play him that much he was sick back then :|
 
Rain should definitely come back. He was one of the pallet swapped ninjas. I'm sure NRS could give him a unique design like everyone else.

He only had the controll bubble and the lighning in UMK3 and MKT, but it would awesome if he has both games movelists, UMK3 and MKA...
(Lighning, controll bubble, water blast, water impulse kick and others)

If not with your premise, scorpion shouldnt have the demon fire and the takedown moves neither becuase they appeared in later MKs not even in MK4... And i think he is better with this movelist.
 
They should do with Rain, what they did to Ermac. Ermac in MK9 has every move he had back in UMK3 plus some he had in Armageddon.

And don't forget Rain's roundhouse kick - that was sick.

Yh but would look silly and wont make sens in this game, though they can make the roundhouse kick as a combo and Rain opening a portal to make his rival appear behind, but is hard to see it looking good...
