Is Ed Boon sure he's doing the right thing?

What does Hsu Hao, Mokap, Kreate a Fatality and MK vs DC have to do with MKX? You are talking about terrible characters, a terrible game and a terrible game mode. But that has nothing to do with the current state of the series. You have every right to be pissed off over those things. Most MK fans hate them as well.

Your hatred for MK9 and MKX, however, is insane.

is not insane, include krypt mk9 sucks as hell, i am not saying that whole mk9 is shit, only imo have few productive stuffs but imo mk9 is in 85% shit. Also scorpion/quanchi favoritims is nasty.

The thing about the complaints for MKX is that they are mostly coming from butt hurt purist fan boys who despise change. So I'm not too concerned with it.

Sadly.
It sucks that most are being close-minded.
I love MK1 thru UMK3 too, but NRS can't just keep rehashing the same stuff all the time.

NRS mentality has always been quite experimental over the years...
I mean, they literally went from a traditional tournament with Chinese influences to a much modern Americanized story, then got rid of 2D to 3D and added Konquest modes to a fighting game that were more like RPG and action-adventures within the same disc. We even had modes like puzzle, chess and motorkombat. They even allowed you to create your own character. No to mention the crazy amount of bonus content in the Krypts. After all that, they came back to 2.5D with a Challenge Tower.

I don't know any other fighting game that tried so many new thing as MK. People are extremely spoiled.

oh yes, you have true open mind when you are not agreed with the all boon ´s intentional errors for troll everything in mk, at least since mkd. Now if boon drop off and erase the things that tobias made for mk, is cause anyone have an open mind. It is not sound coherent from you. Also everyone understood that i have said but preffers hide this with "ignore him" or "i don´t understand nothing" :D

Really? Feels bad man.

Anyway, I haven't read all the posts in here, so I might just be saying old shit, but I guess I'll give my answer to the thread title.

Is Ed Boon sure if he's doing the right thing? Probably not. I don't mean that in a bad way... Just, can you be sure if you're ever doing the right thing. We can't see into the future. I'm 95% certain that he wasn't sure if MK9 was the right thing to do and 99% certain that he wasn't sure if MK1 was the right thing to do. This is a really stupid question.

I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing, though. He's experienced and he's learned a lot from his experience. He's made plenty of mistakes, and he's learned so it's unlikely that he'll make them again.

Is what he's doing risky?

Yup.

Is it a step in the wrong direction? Nah. He's moving forwards, not backwards. What's life without risk?

Sheeva survived, Liu Kang died. How is there nothing wrong with that again?

Sheeva's role in MK9 was almost nonexistent. She showed up a few times as a lackey character. What you're saying is the equivalent of "Why did Obi Wan Kenobi die and Mon Mothma survive?!"

We're talking about a character who has minimal impact on the story. Liu Kang died because he is an essential character who plays heavily into the story. These characters are going to effect the audience more because we care about them more. Harping over Sheeva is just hilarious and stupid. Same goes for Reptile and Baraka.

I still find a LOT wrong with that picture.

Sheeva should have been killed on her third appearance in the story mode. If she's going to be a lackey, then what's the point of letting her stick around? I personally would have put her out of her damn misery ASAP, and NRS couldn't even do that. Instead, it was all but THREE heroes that had to go.

The problem with kang is that midway team did not know what to do with at mkda, not by any reason at history mode.
Problem with kang is that him was never evolved as character, and the same way happen with scorpion actually. At mk9 its have non sese moves like a teleport, other crazy and stupids ideas from boon-Voguel.

Also at Mkd they did not make special moves to zombie liu kang version, his chains are for nothing there. Also at mkar intro him use them against shang tsung....... pathetic.

Anyway kill to kang at history mode was for add more drama and desesperation for pettry few. so i believe that midway has lost an oportunity

What's the point in killing her, though? She wasn't relevant enough to kill off. And at this point, if they really wanted to, they could bring her back in the future and use her (though I doubt they will). And it's highly unlikely that she "sticks around". With Kahn dead, I'm sure she just goes her own separate way. Who cares? Again, she is not relevant to the story.

As for there only being three heroes left... Would it have made you feel so much better if Kang had survived? You'd be one of the few. Liu Kang was clearly destined to die. He dies in the original timeline and dies in the new timeline. And I'm pretty sure that's not the last we'll see of him. Liu Kang is an annoying thorn in my side. He'll be back.

Liu Kang was never an interesting character. He was based off of a real life person and was meant to be basic-bit** hero that saves the day. MK Deadly Alliance and Deception are not responsible for the downfall of his character. He was ALWAYS a terrible two dimensional character.

Also, lay off Boon and Vogel. You're comparing their work to Boon/Tobias which only relates to a few games that were very limited in technology and design. It may have seemed simple and sweet at the time, but do you really think Tobias would have kept it that way had he stayed on with the series? Of course not. The original games would FAIL today if they weren't suped up.

Stop living in the past and learn how to move on. You're coming across as a rather obnoxious butt hurt fanboy.

What's your point?

Your obsession with Sheeva's current status is a little bizarre. I feel like you're thinking about it more than NRS is.
Point I'm trying to make is Liu Kang (among others) should have survived ahead of Sheeva and not vice versa.

There are a lot of people who die before other more deserving people. That's life. Get over it. This is a stupid thing to be pissed off about. You could bring this argument up for every single movie, show or video game in which a good character dies and a crap one lives. It's not worth pouting over.

Liu Kang was a boring a** character who had it coming. I hope they replace him with a more interesting character to fill the hero role.

A boring ass character alright...a boring ass character who won championships! I'll take that over an exciting character who CAN'T win championships!
