Is Ed Boon sure he's doing the right thing?

MitsuharuSan What do you mean by dark and gritty reboot, MK has always been dark and gritty with character deaths and chaoitc backgrounds its not a type of reboot as say TMNT 1987 to TMNT 2k3

lol Okay guys... Here's the thing. Just because you don't like the way something plays out, that doesn't make it cheap. It means you didn't like it.

Besides, you guys are acting like the entire roster was wiped out. The number of characters that survived, is greater than the number of characters who died. They knocked out a few less essential characters for the sake of the story. Deal with it. The sad truth is that most of them will eventually return due to the cry baby fans who were all upset over Kung-Pointless-Lao or Jax-The-stereotype being killed off.

Let me apply the same logic to you that you did to me...

If you don't like the fact that MK characters aren't as dead as Aerith Gainsborough, then why don't YOU not buy MK?

You have a point. But in all honesty I think that MK followed the recent trend of reboots where things go awry in order to be "dark and gritty". As in "take itself too seriously" (only to go for the cheap route of "let's bring this one from the dead" later). It did work, but...

Cause I'm not some whiny little bi*** who will rage quit the series over one foolish thing.

You guys are masochists.
No matter how many times Tarkatan Trash admits that he is a troll, you guys just keep on trying to reason with him.

Let me make it clear, though, that it's all my opinion only. I don't want to go "RAGE QUITZ AGH" on people here, lol! I am just under the impression that some things could have been different, that the story could be even more developed. I love MK nevertheless.

Practice what you preach...

What the hell are you even talking about?! I stated my opinion on bringing characters back from the dead and how it is an example of poor story telling. You dove in and shoved your ridiculous logic down everyone's throat saying that characters SHOULDN'T die and the story never progress. Do you follow?

We will have to see MKX story before we can jump to that conclusion though. And what if they DON`T bring back the dead characters?I`m really not convinced of the ''Kung Lao is obviously returning'' thing.

If you're telling someone to boycott over the little things, you should do the same. If you don't want to practice, then don't preach.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see!

My fear, though, is that it'll end up like the MK4 - DA - Deception - Armageddon era. It also started with the death of certain characters, some radical changes and new faces taking over. In the end it just didn't work. Not bringing back certain characters is also a critical point, because you can be sure that many fans will play the game expecting to see their favorite fighters (and that isn't a sin, after all we're talking about a fighting game series).

I mentioned in a previous post that when you have an established series as MK - 20+ years and counting - it just isn't about radical changes anymore, and I'll stick to this point. It's nice seeing that Ed Boon and co. are willing to take risks, but it is a fair point to say that the same strategy (sudden changes) didn't work previously. It's also why I'm worried: back when Armaggedon was released it was mentioned that that game would be the one to wrap up the MK story and characters as we knew it and the next one would "start fresh". That was a great risk already, but at least the intention was clear. Years later they decide to release a reboot, which includes most of the fan-favorite settings and characters... only to say "to hell with it!" in the end, without developing much a new timeline. It's no wonder why some are complaining or, at least in my case, are worried as to what that means. I take this massacre into consideration and think about certain new characters (D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr, even Kotal Kahn/Khan) and it reminds me of DA, really.

Once again: yeah, let's wait and see. Maybe a few years from now we will look back and discuss that big "massacre event" in the new MK's timeline. I just hope that there are enough familiar elements left (without going for the cheap route of ressurection) that it won't leave a bad taste in mouth.

Don't forger Rule 34-Black/Indian/Whatever Lady-Jade, Ameican Plainsman-Stereotype-Nightwolf, etc.
