I'm sorry, but Shao Khan isn't fun to play against.

So I was going through an Expert Ladder Run, was doing pretty good with Ermac, getting 1:28 average gametime, exception being Shang Tsung (but oddly not Kintaro o.O)

Enter Shao Khan. He instantly charges me, knocking me to the ground. Hammer Throw, hits me while I get up, stuns me, Hammer Throw, stuns me, Hammer Throw, Hammer Throw, Hammer Throw. I'm down.

Next round, I try to jump over him, he does his UP shoulder Charge, Golfs me with his Hammer, and then Charges me to death.

Not only is the bastard spamming, but he is invulnerable, hits like a truck, and spams the stun.

I don't mind a challenge, I quite enjoy Kintaro/Goro/Shang Tsung, but Shao Khan needs to be skaled down..... It's just NOT fun to fight against the ****er....
 
Yeah, to true. I have not done the ladder at all. But I did meet him in story.

Nearly ever fight plays out epic in story mode. Some of the match ups are just plan cool. But when I faced Kahn there was nothing fun about it. You cant pull off anything fun or cool and you just have to spam cross overs and such.

But this goes with every fighting game boss nearly. Especially for 2d fighting games. Its a must have to have a pain in the ass boss.
 
yeah I actually kept saying "this isn't fun anymore" to myself over and over again when I was trying to beat Shao Khan in story mode. But I get why they did it.
 
Shao Kahn has been a tough SOB in every game he was in since MK2..... In my experience you have to let him beat you down a few times so he calms down a little....THEN try to fight him....lol
 
kahn's a *****....story mode, expert, even in beginner he has some ridiculous moments .... i take it and accept it as he is shao kahn...and him being easier than kintaro/goro would be dumb....but spamming him either from distance with a projectile or up close with quick combos gets redundant and i tend to lose interest quicker....meanwhile the volume of this game sucks ass...it loses its epic-ness because the soundtrack is so low

though i dont know why NRS though beating the game on expert without continuing only deserves a bronze trophy
 
I don't mind a good challenge but a lot of the challenges in MK9 aren't even fun, they are just frustrating. I hate how you hit the bosses and they just flash and plow right through you.
 
This is the only game I can honestly say Shao Khan is a pain in, MK2 , Mk 3, the 3-d games, he was a puss..

There's ways around him, you have to land a knock down and then Khan is your *****.
 
Since Shao Kahn is arguably one of the cheapest bosses EVER, I have no issue being just as cheap in beating him.
 
I agree. I actually turned it to beginner just to beat Kahn in story mode. Just stupid. I loved the Quan Chi/Scorpion matchup which was the first real challenge in story mode, but Kahn just sucked.
 
I easily beated him with Sektor, though I am not a Sektor user. His Teleport uppercut rapes Shao Khan so easily its not even funny. Pull it off BEFORE or AFTER (NOT DURING OR HES GOING TO FLASH AND COUNTER) his Hammer throws or Spear throws or charges.

I had a tough time beating him with my Main, Liu Kang and Subzero tag teamed with my friends Scorpion. It seems only teleportation techniques will work against him. I agree, hes cheap and unfun to play against. The Hammer throw, is the cheapest. Unblockable, fast, and stuns for a long time, allowing him to get to you or throw another. I
 
Played the ladder on expert today, he is MUCH tougher in that mode then in the other modes. I probably got to him in 90 minutes, and another 90 minutes to beat him. In Normal and Hard mode, it still took a few tries. But in Expert I nearly quit a few times. I'm hesitant to use Expert mode for other players now...
 
I've found Smoke, Noob and Quan Chi to be excellent Shao Kahn killers.

Smoke - spam the smoke ball, jump toss. when he fires a projectile interrupt with teleport punch or if you can time it right do the parry

Noob - spam your shadow ball and clones

Quan - Spam the skull ball, when it's safe do the tele-stomp.
