Hanzo Hasashi in MK9, anyone? Inb4 wouldn't work.

Would you support a free Hanzo Hasashi skin for Scorpion?

You remember how MKA had the KaF option, where you could make and name your own fighter? Well, some kid made an attorney-based character called "Jack Thompson" and made a video of his character fighting on MKA. He posted it on the internet, and some desperate lawyer named Jack Thompson found out and sued Midway for the use of his name (claiming the fact that their "character" was attorney based was an attack on his name). Then Mr. hot-shot 7-years of education attorney found out that MKA has a KaF option, and lost the suit. Something like that.

Now Hanzo Hasashi is a rare Japanese name. Hanzo is common, but Hasashi is pretty rare. It would be really something if by coincidence the real HH was a lawyer and sued NRS.

Yeah, I remember that jack thompson mess lol. He must've really had a ego disorder if he thought Midway thought he was famous enough to make a character of him. Props to the kid who made the Kaf version of him, 10/10 on the troll scale.
Now, is this Hanzo mess really happening?? Because someone asked Boon if they could make a HH skin for scorpion and he said "It's not as simple as us owning the name." Was this him making a reference to that legal dispute??

Nononono lol I was posting hypothetically, there hasn't been a law suit with any lawyer named Hanzo Hasashi lol. Though that lawyer is really something. From my experience, most of the prosecutors at the county, at least with parking violations, like to brag a lot in the courtroom. Haha. Or it could be that the Jack Thompson guy was desperate for money and hopped on the opportunity. I think Boon meant other considerations- of course, someone named HH could sue (and lose most definitely), but I believe that he means as far as adding that element to the character. It would make Scorpion too human for his tastes, perhaps he plans on making him evil for longer.
 
I wouldn't be against Scorpion pre-death, either. Having said that a lot of Scorpion's character is placed in being undead.
 
I can't see it working, most his powers and fatalitys come from him being a spector. plus he was a ninja when he was alive so... so he would either have pupils or just be a random japonese guy
 
The only thing a Hanzo Hasashi costume would do for this game is encourage more people to use an already overused character. As easy as it is to beat most Scorpions, I don't want to see more of them.
 
All valid points, but that's the point of the thread. To share the logical points for the skin and support or to show the points against it.

A little off topic, but i like how when Sindel gets battle damage on her alternate costume her eye begins to look like someone jabbed a giant pearl in her skull
 
No. How are they gonna translate Scorpion's spectre/hellfire powers to a human Hanzo without it being and looking stupid like Human Sektor's teleport/flamethrowers in MK9? I guess it would be alright to see his formerly human self in his dreams or memories or something like that, but I certainly don't want a playable Hanzo.

Because I hate when they dont respect the character's basic concet, even if its in an alt, same applies to unmasked Sub-Zero, thats not Sub-Zero. If they bring back unmasked SZ and then they come with a human Scorpion, then why dont do they make brunette Sonya? masked Johnny Cage with cape? Baraka without teeth? White Jax? Winged reptile?

I think the character's basic concept must be respected, always.

Scorpion is a a hellraised yellow ninja in quest for revenge, not a human, he was once but not as a character, just as a part of his background story nothing more.

That's my 2 cents.

He said that "It's not as simple as us having the idea.", not "It's not as simple as us owning the name."

And are you guys talking about that lawyer Jack Thompson, the one who's been trying to condemn M-rated video games or whatever?
 
Initially I wouldn't support HH simply because I don't use Scorpion. If it did happen I would expect unmasked SZ or some other alternate BiHan/KueiLiang.
Smoke was initially cyber in mk3 then changed to human/ninja in its' several varients. In MKD he became a gas based fighter. I heard no complaints. Now he's back to human. Because of the complaints Smoke was given his retro skin but now there's complaints he's not cyber.
Ultimately I agree with Fox; respect the characters key concepts.

Smoke was initially a human not playable character, he was then turned into a cyborg when he appeared as a playable character in MK3.
