Frost for MKX

Donald Sterling is more welcome to MK than someone who is a Sub-Zero clone by her very nature.

Frost can't be in Mortal Kombat because MK fans are stupid and think clone characters are bad.
Ignoring the fact that she has a different name, gender, costume, story, alignment, weapon, specials and normals.


The only move she ever shared with Sub-Zero was the slide, which he didn't even have in the game she debuted in. Plus it was his MK4 version of the slide where he would go under them.

Her ground freeze was nothing like his.


But she has ice powers, so the short sighted fanboys have to cast her down. Oh well.

Anyway glad to see I am not the only who sees potential in her. But it seems I wasn't clear enough about my idea. If Netherrealm were to bring back Frost we have seen in MKDA, MKD, MKA.... it would be boring. Yes she has different costume, different name, different gender... but she still feels like someone decided to give a chest for subzero and just changed figure a little bit. If you were to put her next to subzero... she still feels like a clone of subzero, just in female body.

If they were to redo her character in different manner. Utilized her ice powers in different manner. She would be completely different character even if she shares the same powers as subzero.

I mean look at scorpion and liu kang. Both use fire in a fight. But both of them are different and utilize that power in different way. The same could be for Frost. Also they could do a nice new backstory for Frost. Cause the one where she is arrogant little girl who tries to overthrow her teacher/grandmaster and then tries to get revenge on him because he left her at otherworld... leave that shit to Scorpion. I say 180 on her backstory would be a good idea. Especially now that subzero (who was her mentor in the first timeline) is dead, where are countless possibilities for her character to redevelop.

For example what if she never joined Lin Kuei (it was never mentioned how she got in Lin Kuei). If let's say ninjas who forcibly recruited members for their clan (like subzero whose parents were killed), failed to get Frost. Like she accidentally killed off her captors with ice power burst (cause she is descendant of Cryomancer race anyway) ,but failed to save her parents. Since then was in hiding and grew up as a survivor while wearing Lin Kuei as memento and... and oh boy here comes my "creativity". She could have unique mask which gives her an ability to utilize her powers in different manner than let's say subzero.
Instead of her being this calculated, arrogant, evil , she could be completely neutral (like Nitara with her own interests) and utilize her powers in different way. For example use ice power not to immobilize opponents or create weapons like subzero does, but enhance her mobility. Sliding (yeah subzero has sliding, but I am talking about different kind of sliding) where she can close distances in short time and launch brutal assault up close. Cover her fists in ice and do some brutal smashing ooooorr... for example instead of using ice clones as decoy, she slides towards enemy at huge speed, stops at certain point and launches ice clown of herself into opponent. Her fighting style could also be more brutal. I mean subzero is brutal, but he is brutal in this "subtle way" he uses these "high class" techniques to cause damage, and Frost for example uses her head, knees or elbows to inflict some serious brutal damage to opponent (Basically street fighting). Like for example she grabs opponents head and slams it into her knee.
Her character could also show her survivor's nature. Instead of being silent she could be short tempered. Fast to burst into rage. My fingers are itchy to make some sort of sketch... cause it starts to sound awesome (for me at least)

Also...

Not going to happen. Ed even tweeted she won't make it. As for me... I wouldn't mind if she was in, but at the same time I don't see a reason why she should.

Sub-Zero should be the only character with the ability to Freeze. Hands down. I could care less if Frost was in, and had damaging ice projectiles. But giving her freezing abilities? Nope.

I don't see Smoke getting a spear back in the 3D iterations/MK9. Plus that whole Jarek rope thing in MK:A would never be repeated again for any character, according to MK:A Concept Art (with the exception of Scorpion, of course).

Well I just wrote above a different kind of use. Also ice projectiles are used by subzero too. I am talking more about ice powers which used for mobility and encasing body in ice or something.

Also i don't think it is necessary for freezing powers to be "exclusive". They also have many uses. I would like to see them used in different manner better, than just seeing subzero use them in same style over and over.

P.S Also number one Sub Zero fan, but still want to see variations.

And how many kharacters have flame powers? They don't complain about that shit. Liu Kang has a fireball. Shang Tsung has a fireball. I think even Sheeva has one. But nobody cares about that.
 
I agree with OP and any other person who says something along the lines of, "Frost has potential."

The only tricky thing about Frost is that the story around her would have to make since. If we still have three alive representatives from the Lin Kuei (Sub-Zero, Sektor and Cyrax) then Frost could come in to play in the story. If Smoke somehow comes back alive then maybe DLC would be a better option.

Anyway onto story wise stuff.
If this is supposedly a new Sub-Zero altogether(bet his old code name was Hyrdo or some shit lol) then his main purpose should be to supposedly restore the Lin Kuei from all that Cyborg shit right? Well what if he encounters a woman who also wants to see the restoration of the Lin Kuei? So they team up to see those plans go through. Boom there you have Frost.

Now whether she turns out to be evil or neutral is up to Ed Boon (if he decides to put her in at all). She could be sneaky and try to betray Sub-Zero at the last minute or be seduced by the power of the medallion and then turn on Sub-Zero.

Either way Frost coming back could be a long shot but not a completely bad idea

Ooooooor.... maybe this kind of story? No need to reapeat DA. There is a chance to bring out a freshly made Frost.

and I just posted my opinion too and used previous post as example to support my opinion that repeating Frost story line wouldn't be interesting.

If damage over time/area of effect rules applies in this game, you could have Frost slow down her enemies more so than freezing them. That way, she's not necessarily freezing enemies.

There, so people can finally shut the hell up about her being a "clone."

Heaven forbid that people want original female characters with original powers like D'Vorah, though, because you're automatically labeled a fanboy and fvck originality, right?

It's okay to want originality, but to call a character a clone who isn't even a clone just shows ignorance.

That said:

Frost wasn't the only 1.
Ermac and Kenshi were WAAAAAY to damn similar, back in the day too.
In MK9, though, NRS revamped him with the Shinto Blade guiding him and Ermac has his telekinesis.


That said, with MKX Sub-Zero now having ice daggers, being able to throw his ice clone (which Is awesome) and a ton of ice moves, I don't see much room for Frost.
That's what I'm getting at.

Stalactite moves and Stalagmite moves? Cool.
Frost slowing people down instead of Freezing, like Kitty said? Cool.

I just want to see some damn originality.

Well she could have completely different moves. Sub-zero's only projectile is an ice ball. She could have ice daggers as well as an anti air dagger. Instead of an ice clone she can have an ice pillar that she could knock down by kicking it to hit her opponent.

Basically she could have a completely different move set that doesn't match Sub-Zero's at all. She could cover areas that Sub couldn't like the air.

The only clone thing about her is that she would be a Cyromancer. Though if there is one move that she could borrow it would be an ice parry. Maybe.
