*Sorry mods, ment to post this here, not the reveal thread.*NEWS! IT EXPLAINS WHY FREDDY HAS 2 GLOVES AND IS IN MK!

ON THE MORTAL KOMBAT OFFICIAL SITE:

A malevolent spirit of the Dream Realm, Freddy Krueger preys on the souls of the living as they sleep. When Shao Kahn began to steal Earthrealm's souls - souls Freddy considered his own - Freddy battled the emperor in the Dream Realm. But Shao Kahn's will was too strong. He pulled Freddy into the real world, where he was mortal, and defeated him. A badly injured yet determined Freddy fitted both his hands with demonically enhanced razor gloves. Once he has killed Shao Kahn he will find a way back to the Dream Realm, where he will torment Earthrealm's souls for eternity.

That's true, but only because of short notice matchups I think.

As the days go on, I'm getting more and more into the thought of Freddy being in the game. I can see it being seriously fun.

Its fine you dont like Rain, just dont diss the powers. I like any MK character anyways, just some i like better than others.

I think DLC is allowed at tourneys, so if Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain are allowed then Freddy definitely will be too. Only a console exclusive character like Kratos isn't allowed.

I'm not sure when they will allow DLC, perhaps in the months after EVO to give people enough time to train and learn their characters.

Made this video today and just wanted to know what some of you Freddy fans think. Its basically some what of a Fan-made trailer.


This doesnt change the fact that I dont really approve of Freddy in Mk all like that, but still its Mk news.

Lol they just mashed his actual backstory into the world of MK, they're not trying to make him a true Mortal Kombat character. Every DLC character gets a bio and this is Freddy's. I doubt we'll see any guest characters make legitimately canon, recurring appearances.

I also think they're not allowing DLC in tournaments because they're not properly tweaked yet. MK3 Cyrax can still bomb trap, MKII Noob can't link Blackhole, MKII Smoke can still OTG Smoke Bombs, Skarlet, Kenshi, and Rain have all yet to be patched in anyway shape or form (and thus there are probably some things about them that can be exploited). So yeah, the lack of time to practice against them is probably part of the problem, but I'm betting some of the shit I listed is as well.

from the gameplay vid i saw even tho they obviously were not by people who know how to handle him yet. he seems to be a fairly fast/versatile character that does somewhat low damage. which is funny considering his hands are giant razor knives.

my questions so far are

1-does his smokeesque teleport get hit while teleporting similar to smokes?
2-whats the tracking like on the sleep powder
3-what kind of damage/advantage does the low projectile give
4-how much recovery on whiffed ground claws (jaxesque move, not the projectile)

definite rushdown imo, tho his claw crawl is BA

god damn it I was too pages away from getting caught up on the discussion before i realized this is gameplay only. whos played as him and why we talking about gameplay. dont mean to hate but either way i am so ****ing stoked about this dlc!!! and I disagree with making mk a horror movie smash bros. also im a fan of guest characters...and i agree that a fatality should have been the rotating bedroom scene from the first nightmare. and his alt is probly gonna be robert englund. ps why the hell we talking about rep? it was just inflated karma anyways haha

I think Freddy's bio is actually pretty decent. Honestly, a new realm just adds more to MK universe, so I am fine with Dream Realm. I wouldn't mind if they explored more from that realm in future MK's, but... the fact Freddy is a match for Shao Khan just doesn't seem acceptable to me :p So... he's neutral in this war it seems, it's cool. He looks more evil than Baraka or any shokan in my opinion...

I am digging Freddy more now, Earthrealm has a lot of villains, so putting them around the idea of Shao Khan's invasion is cool. I wonder if they put Jason in this game as DLC, what storyline will they give to him (and it's pretty OBVIOUS Jason is a given no matter what Boon says).

Interesting concept, at least they're not just carelessly throwing characters in there for the sake of selling more game copies.

they are not doing it carelessly, but they are doing it to sell more game copies. you disliking freddy is fine. hell i even would rather have no guest chars so we can better develop the mk storyline/universe.

but freddy's coming, mine as well grab my crucifex, stay up late, etc, etc

in the malibu comics, henge was from the nightmare realm, so im not entirely sure that the dream realm is not one in the same.

Also Nightwolf has missions in challenge tower when he is in a dreamlike state? wha is that called i forget? spirit realm? i bet these are all the same place. so i dont think they made anything new for freddy. just an opinion.

also, i heard from a friend that freddy had two gloves at begining of first movie? can someone confirm/dismiss this plz?

freddy in mk is waaay better than, oh say yoda/vader in Soul Cal. Waaaay better than Catwoman, Dare I say better than Kratos? Freddy is not here for the MK fans, he is here so freddy fans might discover MK. Also to stand, out what with all the SF Vs and crossovers. I say give us a DC Universe Char next round of DLC! How bout that Harley Quinn we never got.

He did not have two gloves ever. Maybe before the movie was filmed they thought of giving him two tho

Totally dude! Even his two gloves were explained. Cant wait to beat arcade with him to see his ending and after that beating the shit out of other players online, if i can x)

Yeah, I don't think they made him cannon just because they gave him a "realm". Remember, Kratos was brought forward in time, which would mean his games were cannon if his story was cannon >.>
