Same here; but it's really too soon to say if it is or is not going to recycle that much of the roster. And even if it is, if there'll be more new characters or not. I say hold your judgement. Try to enjoy what we have right now. Which tbh is pretty awesome. It's not hard to say that as far as gameplay, looks, atmosphere, and gore; this is the best MK we have ever gotten.
There's still much to see yet : we only have half of the roster -- if that, we don't really know what many of the stages are going to look like, the story is obviously turning out to be exciting, we have another digital series coming, another type of -ality, and best of all; we'll probably be receiving a demo in the near future. There's still plenty to look forward to, and plenty to be excited about.

Pretty much at this point the only way I am going to enjoy this roster is if every reveal after this is only brand new characters and post UMK3 characters

This difference between this MK release and last is kinda crazy. MK9 there were trolls.. But I dunno, I don't remember them being as bad. I made a lot of friends here, but now there's a ton more name calling and arguing as opposed to 'debating'. To be fair, I've changed quite a bit since then. I was kind of a jerk. But still. The atmosphere of TRMK is completely different. I swear that this place used to be heavily moderated, and now there's next to no moderation from what I can tell. It's not as bad as it could be, I guess. But it's definitely not 2009-2011 TRMK

I think the stages with fallen plane and military base does hurt the atmosphere. For me all these modern day backgrounds looked ok only in vanilla MK3, because there, with the robots in the roster, were no masked ninjas and no chinese/japanese mythology looking characters, they really created the post-apocalyptic atmosphere in modern west city.
With the roster full of masked ninjas, creatures and gods, something more ancient or mystic should fit much better.

The mods were so intense during MK9's time that I was constantly receiving warnings and sh**. In a way, I like it better now. lol It's got more of a Wild West theme to it.

You have to remember, though, that Earthrealm is completely destroyed after the events of MK9. There are likely going to be areas visited that look like cities after a disaster. Not only that, but Shinnok/Quan Chi had plans to invade Earthrealm yet again in their weakened state. But from what I've seen, we have both mystic and urban environments represented well. I think the stages might be one of my favorite aspects of the design. Right there next to the less 'bright' characters. I'm really happy with the designs over-all. They've been pitching this 'dark' atmosphere for so long now (pre-MKvDC) and I finally think they're getting to it, it's turning out quite nice IMO

Yeah, like you said.. In a way it is better. I remember a lot of people getting some pretty goofy infractions. But really, all the name calling is getting annoying. People are getting really desperate to get their points across for some reason.

Yeah the infractions were so goofy that Pat had to get rid of the Reputation system. I loved the rep system, it separated the idiots from the enlightened lol.
Seriously though, it kinda is better now because people have no choice but to deal with shit themselves and not threaten to report a poster over the smallest thing. That shit was rampant during the lead up to MK9.

Instead of crashed planes they could use something like After Judgment Day (not Terminator, bible) style, you know "Hell on Earth", like in Constantine with Keanu Reaves when he travells into Hell and see the whole town in fire and demons living there, not simple "oh, this city should look like after the usual war"
