since the beginning MK fatalities have pretty much been the same...the only difference is how they were presented....sure there could be a little more creativity involved ( or someone in the office saying "thats been done before" )....but since MK3 fatalities have been on the decline....jax growing into a giant and stomping the opponent ( really? ) liu kang dropping the MK cab on the opponent...just a few examples...but what has really killed them for me has been the presentation....they dont feel as dark...sure the screen goes damn near pitch black but the ominous sound is gone, that sound when you knew you pulled the fatality input off...even the announcers "finish him/her" can kill the mood...even the word "fatality" across the screen looks retarded now...keep it simple...
i especially dont like the 3d feel they kept for MK 9's fatalities...too up close and personal for me...main reason why i havent liked the 3d mk games of the past...they get too close for the fatality ...
another issue i have is the screen going pitch black around the fatality...why? i liked it going dark grey and you could still see the background
the biggest issue im having with the fatalities is the announcement....the "finish him" isnt menacing at all...almost comical...and "fatality" is worse...whoever gave the thumbs up to the commentary should be fired...i dont care if its noob himself
its sad that NRS thinks they have to push the envelope graphically to get the point across...and still doesnt succeed...for me they have executed some things correctly but than fail harder at the easy stuff...
I agree with this post. 100%
