Fatalities are getting worse by the minute

since the beginning MK fatalities have pretty much been the same...the only difference is how they were presented....sure there could be a little more creativity involved ( or someone in the office saying "thats been done before" )....but since MK3 fatalities have been on the decline....jax growing into a giant and stomping the opponent ( really? ) liu kang dropping the MK cab on the opponent...just a few examples...but what has really killed them for me has been the presentation....they dont feel as dark...sure the screen goes damn near pitch black but the ominous sound is gone, that sound when you knew you pulled the fatality input off...even the announcers "finish him/her" can kill the mood...even the word "fatality" across the screen looks retarded now...keep it simple...

i especially dont like the 3d feel they kept for MK 9's fatalities...too up close and personal for me...main reason why i havent liked the 3d mk games of the past...they get too close for the fatality ...

another issue i have is the screen going pitch black around the fatality...why? i liked it going dark grey and you could still see the background

the biggest issue im having with the fatalities is the announcement....the "finish him" isnt menacing at all...almost comical...and "fatality" is worse...whoever gave the thumbs up to the commentary should be fired...i dont care if its noob himself

its sad that NRS thinks they have to push the envelope graphically to get the point across...and still doesnt succeed...for me they have executed some things correctly but than fail harder at the easy stuff...

I agree with this post. 100%

Fats are a sideshow -- gameplay and content is what matters. You'll see Fats once and move on.

Fats will likely serve more as a 'rage quit' tool than anything else...

Not for me I only use them if I completely pummel someone just to add more humiliation to them, unless its a back and forth match then I usually just roundhouse them

I'm a bit bummed by the overabundance of "cut that off, rip this off" fatalities so far, I can't deny that. I'll reserve judgment until I see all of them, though.

Now that I think about it, why are most of the fatalities locked in the first place? They've never been locked in any main MK game before. Is it because they wanted to have a lot of unlockables for The Krypt?

^^^This. There's still a good amount of characters who we haven't seen in action yet.

Remember when Mileena had that generic X-Ray way back when? Remember when they changed that to the one they have now?

There are/was a lot of placeholder stuff within the game; you folks act as if you've seen everything. Well, no, none of us have, and I'm almost positive that Scorpion's 2nd fatality, Reptile's 1st fatality, Mileena's 2nd fatality, and others, have been changed to more awesome fatalities than what we have seen so far. NRS has already stated that they have based the fatalities around the reactions of all the people in the room watching the fatality, so I'm pretty sure they realize that generic slice point/dismemberment fatalities won't garner as much reactions as the more versatile batch of fatalities. Lupinko has already said that Sheeva will have her skin rip fatality from MK3, and look at Kano's/Noob's fatalities. Lastly, we start off with only 1 fatality, probably a more generic slice point fatality; we will unlock more rewarding finishers in The Krypt. So, like I said, play the game first, unlock and do all of the fatalities, and then form a real opinion about them. To be fair, I can't even be sure most of the fatalities won't be just slice point fatalities; I haven't played the game and seen everything yet, either. But IMHO, it just makes more sense to wait and see what the fatalities will be like in the final product rather than go off what we've seen from earlier builds.

The Noob Saibot one is great. As they're pulling the victim apart and they've split up to the head they have to struggle to finish. you see the skin tear and the opponent looks horrified. It's one of the most brutal mk fatalities.

Is there a Video up for that one yet I've really wanted to see it.

The fatalities looks fine to me. I am waiting for the final release before posting any judgement on the issue. Some people are judging Raiden's fatality while we only saw 3 sketches of it... no comments. I haven't read the spoilers but I am expecting Sheeva's skin rip, Shang Tsung's soul extraction and kabal's face of death. So it won't be all about dismembering your foe.

The last two I've seen were Sonya's leg split, which looked way better than it did in MK4 and kano's heart rip, which was...fantastic!
I also liked the fatalities from demo montage trailer, especially stage fatalities.
My final verdict is definately positive even though I do see how some fatalities are lame.
where did you see sonya's at

Noobs is one of the better ones, but then again, it's just Kung Lao's fatality all over again. At least it's better than the shit Sonya pulls off.
