Ed Boon Statement Fallacy

During E3, Ed Boon stated he was going to "re-tell" the story of MK1-MK3 yet in the Scorpion Vignette video, Quan Chi, who is from MK4, was mentioned. Futhermore, Quan Chi's voice was leaked.

Am I wrong? Yes or no, what's up with that? Are they going to squeeze him in as a DLC or what?
 
Technically he had a pretty big role in the MK1-3 storyline since he killed Scorpion's family and pinned the blame on Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei. That's really all that's up with that. They need to involve him in the game somehow.

Quite a few fans around here do believe that he'll make the DLC roster at the very least, and I wouldn't disagree with that consensus.
 
Kind of off topic, but NRS better not be developing characters right now that they intend to be released later as DLC. I don't expect any of the leaked characters to be anything but in the original roster.
 
Quan Chi is probably the only post MK3 character I'll be okay with in this game. I mean, he fits into the story at least.

Now if Kira or that vampire ***** show up for whatever reason, I'll be pissed off.
 
Deathcore nailed it.
Since Quan Chi was revealed later to have killed Scorpion's family, I think he'll have a big role in MK 9.
It was also revealed that Sub Zero only killed Scorpion.
Scorpion mistakenly blamed Sub Zero for the death of his family and clan.

Exactly, i think in this game near the end of story mode, either two things will happen: Quan Chi gets revealed to be the killer, so sub zero and scorpion both go after him for all the trouble hes caused, OR he gains scorpions trust leading the storyline to continue into the next game.
 
Definitely should be DLC at the very least. But I agree with Ricochetmatt. If I see a newer character Like Nitara or Evil Ken (oops, I mean Kobra) over a klassic like Liu Kang or Kabal, I'm keeping my 60 dollars.

Quan Chi is an essencial kharacter in the MK mythology, so I hope he makes the final cut. Plus, he is possibly the main responsible for the defeat of the good guys in DA.

Shinnok would be a welcome addition as well. Via DLC, obviously.
 
Quan chi is an evil conniving manipulative bastard, he's one of the core MK villains, he has a tremendous role the first 3 games storyline which lead to the events of DA, Dec, and Arm. hell he was even behind the MK Vs DC, he's a true villain to the end and it would make sense for him to be part of the final cut, not DLC. he fits into the first three games story just as well as anyone else. hell he's wronged almost half the cast in some way shape or form.
 
I just think mentioning Quan Chi was a little misleading. I never heard of him until MK4 but that is cuz I don't play the side/spin-off MK titles.

You didn't hear of him before MK4 because his character hadn't been created yet. MK4 (and MK Mythologies, which was released simultaneously), inserted him into the storyline retroactively. So as far as the story goes, yeah, he was there before MK4, but as far as the actual games go, he wasn't. It's (almost) like how they only decided that Noob was the original Sub-Zero as recently as MKD, but because of that core change, it meant that the original Sub-Zero had actually maintained his presence from MK2-on.

Real MK fans love all different characters.

The palette swaps are boring, outdated and should all be consigned to the Netherrealm. MK 2011 would have been much better if it had focused on the later characters and brought in some new characters instead of rehashing the same tired old mainstays.

Are you for real dude? I assume you're not, but the reason why they rehash those tired old mainstays is because they are actually... good characters with some form of character development and interest. There are a few exceptions but most of the post MK3 characters are filler characters, and nothing more. Clearly you will have to wait until the next game to see most of them.

The MK team didn't want to make them palette swaps in the first place, but because of memory limitations it was necessary.

Please try and convince me why Kira/Kobra/Mokap etc is better then Scorpion/Sub-Zero/Mileena for example.

Cool answer, Prince Scorpion! How can people compare stupid female vampire characters to MK's symbols like Scorpion, Sub-zero or Reptile?? I hate this vampire hype. They are everywhere! So please leave them out of MK

I respect that everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I strongly disagree with your post. The fact that the classic roster has returned in MK9 is proof enough that the later characters don't, and never will, hold up to the inspired creations that made MK a success. I'm not going to say who is and isn't an MK fan, but I don't believe there are many fans at all who would share your opinion.
