Ed Boon counting down to something on Twitter?

I'd actually find it cool if the title of MK10 is "MKX" or "Mortal Kombat: X". The "X" would mean a lot to me and I think you guys know what I mean. ;)

Ed Boon gets an exclusive interview with IGN or something, looks straight at the camera, and says :

"The announcement that you've been wait for is that MK 10...is not in production right now."

I've always thought the Deadly Alliance logo was meant to be a stylish V

I totally forgot about the time he teased HD MKSM.

It would be awesome if it made a return. You can play online with a friend. LiuKang93 and I already picked our characters.

I could still get excited for a new Shaolin Monks game, but I feel like MK10 should be released now. It's the perfect time with next-gen.

As much as I want it to be, I can't imagine it'll be Next Gen only.
Especially if they started working on it as soon as/before Injustice finished.

That's also what's worrying me. I mean if it is next-gen as well as current gen, I imagine that next-gen is just going to get a graphics update with current gen gameplay, as opposed to using the full capabilities of the next-gen consoles. This, I'd imagine would lead to much criticism from neutrals/critics.

And you're right, it seems more likely that current gen will get a release. After all, using the example of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Video Game, EA didn't release the game on next-gen consoles AT ALL, due to the fact that the global market for them isn't strong, and especially in the host country of the World Cup, which is Brazil. However, earlier in the year, they released FIFA 14 as a launch title for next-gen. I think they developers realize that current gen is still more likely to be profitable.

This.
Considering that most people still have PS3 and 360, if they were working on the new game since Injustice finished and that the library for PS4 and X1 are both still lacking and weak, I believe that it will be cross-gen too.

This is the very reason why I suggested (about 8 months ago) that an action-adventure game would be good, so that it would be cross-gen and buy NRS more time until more people got next-gen consoles for MK10, and everyone shat on that idea and poo poo'ed me for it.

An action-adventure game would allow for the next-gen market to catch up, if they want to go the next-gen only route.
Otherwise, cross-gen is the way to go, to maximize profits from ALL sales.
Next-gen only isn't going to generate as much cash for them in 2014 / 2015.

Exactly, and as much as they want to maximize profits, they're also going to get shat on for all in likely making the versions indifferent, except for graphics capabilities.

Exactly, but as a developer they risk losing lots of fans if they don't make it cross-gen, considering that not everyone has a PS4 or X1 by now.
That's one 1 the problems that you face when releasing a new game, at the beginning of a console cycle.
The first few games of a console cycle are likely to be the same, anyways, considering that lots of people haven't switched over.

That was the same issue with MGSV: GZ (among others).
Do you get the cross-gen game on the console that you have, or do you buy a $400 new console for it?
As a consumer, my choice is obvious.
I'm going to get it on the console that I currently have, rather than to shell out the $400.

You are correct. The only way NRS will make people have incentive to buy the next-gen version if they do a cross-gen release is to fully use the capabilities of the next-gen to make it a much different and potentially better game than the current gen. That way, die hards can make the decision to jump, and casuals can just be like okay, I got my latest game on my current system. But in all likely, this won't happen, and each version will be a copy of each other, with graphical differences.

A new MK would be enough reason for me to pick up a PS4. There also seems to be speculation that he is counting down to Injustice 2. I would not be happy if that were true.
