I KNOW RIGHT!? The WiiU confused me at first, but now i get it. They revealed only the CONTROLLER FOR THE NEW SYSTEM (they did not show the actual system), however, the old wiimotes and products may be able to also work with the WiiU, which is backwards compatable with Wii games.

The new 3D Mario game looks BA too!! they brought back the tanuki suit!! and the Mario Kart 3DS is hellllllllaaa koooool!! you are now able to fly and go under water!! wtf!!

again, i must say it, nintendo stole the show!!

I believe they made the old controllers compatible because those new, tablet controllers will most likely cost an arm and a leg. Ouch. I've always been a fan of Nintendo, but lately it's not cheap to support them.

The 3DS is $250 so the new WiiU will most likely cost more ($300-$350+ range) and I'd predict the new controller will be priced in the $100-$150 range. If my estimates are correct, you may be looking at: $350 + $100x4 (for minimum 4-player experience) = $750 plus tax! Oh, that's not even including launch titles which will most likely cost between $50-$60 a piece! The saddest thing is, I feel my estimates are on the low end. So, assuming you buy a WiiU system, 4 new tablet controllers and more than one game at launch, you may be near the quadruple digit mark when that bill arrives.
 
Nintendo Press Conference was just disappointing for me.

I only hope that Smash Bros. on 3DS will be absolutely great.
 
good news: Skarlet is nasty. her fatalities are great. she is released within the next couple of weeks. they worked on 4 characters already. we know Kenshi and Skarlet.. if his tweet back then with them and Rain, Tanya, Shinnok and cSmoke was their summer/fall plan, I guess we'll be getting some Rain during the summer :D that's just my speculation though :P

bad news: no more specific DLC news other than Skarlet and Kenshi , character-wise
