Does Mortal Kombat 9 have authentic fighting styles? If so what are they?

Hey guys I was just wondering if the fighters in MK9 have genuine fighting styles and what are they for each character?

Nah not really, But they do all have unique styles that match there personalities and attributes...The martial arts is supposed to be fairly on par, But no specific fighting styles...

Hell no. The people who're fighting in the background on The Pit have more authentic fighting than the people you can actually use in this game.

But it's a game, so I couldn't care less.

I agree and the people on the pit remind me of this:

Not by a mile. Like someone previously mentioned, even the ones in MKDA and MKD which had the names of actual styles were not authentic, just generic strikes and stances meant to follow the character's personality.

Kung Lao uses Wing Chun for sure

Liu and Johnny both use different forms of Jeet Kun Do. Liu's style looks Wing Chun based and most likely made to mimic Bruce Lee's. Johnny uses a modern, more improvised Jeet Kun Do Style.

Scorpion's fighting style is called Demon God Death Fist...a style forbidden in 98% of the world.

It's a fusion of lots of martial arts for all characters ..... they use moves coming from kickboxing, karate, tae kwon do, judo, etc .... so, they are a mix of variation as fighters ......

IMO, Johnny Cage, if was real, could be the best martial artist from all MK 9 roster, well, he trained with the best senseis in the world, hehe XD

The only thing I can note is that for example, Sub-Zero fights with open hands, Smoke fights with the edge of his hands, and that kind of stuff.

It's definitely a mixture. Also, I have noticed that some of them kept some moves from the previous MK games. Like how Kung Lao, Ermac, Kabal, etc.. punch and kicked. And I love that Stryker's kick is very reminiscent of his MK3 kick.

Ummm.. Johnny Cage I think does Karate (not sure which form)
Liu obviously Jeet Kun Doo.
Kung Lao - Shaolin Kung Fu.
Everyone else Idk..

No martial art is authentically depicted in any fighting game.

Agreed. However, if you look closely at Jax this time around, he looks like his movelist is HEAVILY inspired by Muay Thai Kickboxing. I forgot what the input was, but one combo is two straight punches, and an immediate leg kick afterwards. His dash punch is ridiculously close to a superman punch in MMA-style Muay Thai, and his stance is a modified Kickboxing stance. But other than that, there's only the obvious one: Liu is somewhat Jeet Kune Do.
