Dishonored: All Things Dishonored related

As cool as the idea would sound, thank freaking God. It's been hard trying to find a good single-player game this gen that isn't a remaster. I've been playing indies and non-PS4 games more often than not because of the online stuff (I can't really play online unless it's 11:10-6:30, which the PS4 is in the room of my high school brother). Hopefully the companies who are still Single-Player based keep up with that instead of trying to because console versions of Mobile games.

Agreed.
I'd rather them (Arkane Studios) spend time perfecting the powers that they did in the first Dishonored and the DLCs, and coming up with new powers and better gameplay, instead of having to worry about fixing online issue for MP or co-op.
The Dishonored IP has become my favorite gaming franchise in the last decade, and I hope that if there is a 3rd game that comes out later on, that they continue on this SP only path.

I also hope that they don't have NG+ in Dishonored 2, just like in the first Dishonored.
I know that some critics will shit on it and give it a lower review score / rating if it doesn't have NG+ and that it may not be a popular opinion, but part of the fun of the first game (for me) was upgrading Corvo as I went along, and trying out new combinations of powers.
NG+ feels like it would get old, after a while, at least for me.
After a while of playing with a saved game with all the powers collected I'd get probably bored of it, and Dishonored is 1 of the few games that I haven't gotten bored of, thanks to it not having NG+.

The best option to please both parties, IMO, is to go the route of The Brigmore Witches, which either lets you use a previous saved file or start from scratch.

One thing I hope they do that they started slipping on in the first game is bring back the dynamic assassinations/captures. In the first game, the first two bosses were the most unique kills in the game (would add the woman from the Masked Party, but it was more of a "who's the target" game than a unique assassination).

With the first villain, you either:
-Let him poison the man then stealth kill
-Stand in front of the door and scare him into battle with your presence
-Switch the cups and poison the man (which you can help the other man escape or to each his own
-Get rid of the poison cup, follow them into the art room, then either kill or knock out your target

With the Brothers you:
-Kill Them Normally
-Sneak around the building to kill them or know them out
-You could Gas one brother
-You could do side quests and Slackjaw will eliminate them for you

Every assassination after that was just go kill them or knock them out. I really want to see them put the powers and choices to work like they did with those two in this new game.

For the most part, I liked the options that we got within the whole game.
I would like to see other different options, as you mentioned, but for the most part I liked the different options given.

The only 3 missions that didn't really give you that many different options for taking out the intended target was the Royal Physician mission (because you need Sokolov to be alive), Lady Boyle's Last Party (because you either kill her or give her away to Brisby) and the last mission facing Havelock.

I thought that the Flooded District mission was also pretty well done, with the option to knock Daud out, kill him, battle him, let him go free and not kill him, or just steal the key and pouch from him and avoid him altogether.

Even the Flooded District part where you encounter Granny Rags has a few options where you can kill her, kill Slackjaw, steal the key and use Bend Time (lvl 2) to escape, or just not do her side missions at all, and avoid her altogether if you wanted to.

I will always brand Campbell with the Heretic's Brand. That is my favorite non-lethal form of taking him out. That and giving Lady Boyle to Brisby after discovering that option (I've always tried to sneak kill her).

I expect to see these kinds of non-lethal take downs in the sequel. :-)

I almost forgot about the Flooded District. I hope to have us facing more people like Daud and his crew throughout the sequel because I was expecting them to be around in the final chapter. That was my favorite mission in the game.

Same here.
The Whalers were always a good challenge, and sometimes I like to further test my sneaking abilities by not picking up Corvo's equipment stash at the Greaves Refinery, and just sneaking around with a sword (or barehanded).
With Daud, sometimes I fight him and sometimes when I'm in a more stealthy mode I'll just sneak up, grab the key & pouch, make like a baby and head out.

With Granny Rags I like to steal they key and Stop Time, then get the rune and disappear by breaking the floor boards in that room and jump in the water, avoiding all of the rivercrusts on the way back.

Looks like Bethesda is at it again.

This time with Emily Kaldwin in the picture......

Bethesda E3 2016-3.jpg

Yay!
A good indicator that we'll get some more Dishonored 2 info at Bethesda's showcase or during E3 2016. :-D

So my guess is that they'll be showcasing the Last Fallout DLC, another Elder Scrolls Expansion, more stuff about the Elder Scrolls Card Game, Doom 4 DLC, Dishonored 2, and possibly Thief 2? I wonder if they were able to revive the Sequel to the game WET. Maybe I'm asking for something that'll never happen, but I've been wanting a sequel for years after they left with that cliffhanger.

Thief is Square Enix and Eidos Montreal, not Bethesda Softworks, but yeah, I expect the rest of those games and DLC info to be there. :)

I'm not sure how true this is or if it's even true at all, but I found this on the UK GameStop website.

https://www.gamestop.co.uk/Xbox One/Games/52091/dishonored-2?&utm_source=tradedoubler

The German subtitle translates in English to "The Legend Of The Mask."

I wonder what that means? Some people who didn't attention to the story of the first game might take that as the legend behind corvo's mask (which I can't wait to see those videos). Also, I didn't know the big bad for this game was gonna be someone who has supernatural abilities. Can't wait for that boss battle. Maybe the main villain will wear a mask that gives him powers or he use to be an assassin years ago but gained Immortality almost like Granny Rags? Hopefully we'll find out this June. Only 1 Month and some days to go.

I don't know, but I find it odd that only the PC and X1 versions of the game have that German subtitle on the UK website, while the PS4 version on the site doesn't have it.
I could see this being with supernatural abilities being like a Daud type of character.
Perhaps the Outsider has also marked this new person with his mark, much like Corvo and Emily.
I'm hoping that we get the chance to either fight, knock out or escape this villain, much like we could against Daud in the first game.

I can't wait for the Bethesda Showcase.

DANGIT MAN! I'm seriously glad I'm getting a job later this year because I was planning to Get Rise of the Tomb Raider for the PS4. Now I got this game coming near the same month.

My only fear for it being released so close to the end of the year is because of Star Fox Zero and Legend of Zelda U. Both games were suppose to come last year Summer and Fall Respectively, but game pushed back to 2016 & 2017. I hope it's actually gonna be finished on that date.

Yeah.
TR is supposed to be out on Q4, but Zelda got pushed all the way back to March 2017 so that it could also release on the NX.

I don't see too much of an issue with Dishonored 2's Nov. 11th date.
My guess is that TR will be in December.
MK9 and Portal 2 also came out on the same day, and both games sold very well.
Also, no matter how you space it out, in 2016 there are too many titles coming out anyways for Dishonored 2 not to interfere with 1 game or another.

They can't do it in the Spring / Summer because of SFV, Uncharted, Mirror's Edge and Doom.
They can't do it in the Summer because of other games.
They can't do it in Q4 because of "Holiday" games.
June has Mirror's Edge Catalyst and No Man's Sky
August has Metroid Prime, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and KOF XIV
September has Final Fantasy XV
October has Mafia III and GOW4
November, so far has only Dishonored 2 and COD: Infinite Warfare

If it wasn't for November, July probably would have been their best bet, but it probably would have been to soon for a July release date.

I'm just glad it's a November release because there's two of three games I'm getting this month, and I'm already canceling the beginning of my summer to play them.

I would also like to advise anyone not to read Facebook comments. I unfortunately did, and I cannot believe how many people still refuse to realize that Corvo and Emily are father and daughter.

I mean, I think when the developers say that they are, they are. But not even words from the actual developers are proof enough that they're related.

Be warned, some things such as certain characters in the game may be spoilers for some, so I'm putting it in a spoiler tag, just to be safe.....

Spoiler:

Here's a rough recap of the Game Informer article.

-Visually the game pretty much looks like a more detailed version of the last game.

-Before anyone asks, there's no co-op, as they weren't sure how to design that in.

-The game runs on a modified version of idtech5 they've dubbed The Void Engine.

-The game takes place 15 years after the original.

-After the events of the first game, Corvo was concerned that at some point, people would attempt to assassinate Emily. As such, he spent said 15 years training her how to be a magical assassin like him whenever she wasn't too busy being Empress.

-The game starts out with you playing as Emily during a coup d'etat and having to escape.

-Afterwards, you choose whether to play as Emily on her quest to reclaim her throne, or as Corvo with the same objective.

-"When fans found out they could play Dishonored 2 from the perspective of Emily Kaldwin, they were overwhelmingly positive. "The response was stunning for us," Smith says."

-The game starts and ends in Dunwall, but the rest of the game takes place in Karnaca, which is inspired by Mediterranean European countries and is the birthplace of Corvo. Karnaca is also where the majority of the game takes place.

-There's a bunch of stuff about their art design process in here. Let's just suffice it to say that if you liked how the first game looked and how the universe was, you should be satisfied here.

-Anton Sokolov is back.

-The plot setup for how missions works sounds pretty similar. There's some public figure doing bad things and you get information/help from other characters to help in your goal of taking them down.

-The guards are a lot smarter this time and can also do things like vault around and scale objects to chase you.

-Emily has a new set of powers. Far Reach is this giant hand grappling hook thing that pulls you around. It's like blink, except you actually physically move across spaces, so guards can notice you. Far Reach can also be used as a weapon by swinging around environment objects.

-The game is a lot more vertical so these movement abilities are especially important.

-You can do non-lethal aerial takedowns.

-Missions have various options for completion and progression throughout, much like the previous game.

-You can use guards as human shields.

-Non-lethal/stealth options have been expanded quite a bit to be more up to par with the amount of lethal options.

-Another one of Emily's abilities is Mesmerize, which stuns multiple guards temporarily.

-You can puts guards into beds to avoid suspicion.

-There's a bunch of difficulty sliders for things like how visible you are in cover.

-There's quick saving/quick load in all versions of the game now along with checkpoints so you don't risk losing much progress at any given time.

-Coy non-comment about mods. Please download Bethesda.net™.

-Another of Emily's powers is Domino. You link up to four guards together, and then whatever happens to one guard, happens to the rest. For example, if you link four guards, and then lead one into a stun mine, all four are stunned.

-This also works with Doppelganger, where you create a clone of yourself, then link it to the guards, and blow up your own clone.

-Emily also has the Shadow Walk ability which lets her slink into shadows and squeeze into tight places.

-Some of the missions have neutral areas where you can go around and talk to the various citizens to get a feel for the city and hints toward your mission.

-Your base of operations is a boat.

-Dark Vision returns.

-Both Emily and Corvo have a pistol, sword, and crossbow, but they look different. Also they have different end game upgrades to the items.

-Corvo has the same powers as the last game, but they're upgraded and expanded.

-Corvo is voiced by Garrett from Thief because Harvey and Raf like Thief and this game has obviously ate its lunch.

-Corvo's Bend Time ability can now also fast forward time.

-Corvo's possession ability can now be chained between creatures.

-The abilities now unlock via branching, rather than just linear upgrades.

-Corvo's blink can assassinate someone through a glass window starting at level 1.

-The mansion from the trailer is an interlocking puzzle level where you pull levers and open new areas and all sorts of stuff like that.

-The clockwork soldiers are now wood instead of porcelain, though it's nice looking wood.

-They're trying to make the ending and morality systems less bad this time.

Some similar info on Emily and Corvo's powers on gematsu.com, as well as some game info, also in spoiler tags, just in case.....

Spoiler:
The latest issue of Game Informer has a 14-page cover story on Dishonored 2, offering new details on Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Studios E3 2015-announced sequel recently dated for launch across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 11.

Dishonored 2 is set 15 years after the original game. Following the events that previously unfolded, Corvo Attano, the game’s protagonist, was concerned that people would attempt to assassinate empress Emily Kaldwin, the sequel’s additional protagonist, and spent 15 years training her how to be a magical assassin. You begin the game playing as Emily escaping a coup d’etat. Afterwards, you can choose whether to play as Emily on her quest to reclaim her throne, or as Corvo with the same objective. It is a single-player game. There is no co-op, as Arkane was unsure how they would design that into their story.

While the game starts in Dunwall, the majority of the game is set in Karnaca, a city inspired by Mediterranean European countries, and is the birthplace of Corvo.

The plot setup for missions is similar to the first game. There will be a public figure doing bad things, and you’ll get information or help from other characters to assist in your goal of assassinating them. Missions have various options for completion and progression throughout. Some have neutral areas where you can go around and talk to the citizens to get a feel for the city and hints toward your mission. Your base of operations is a boat.

Abilities are now unlocked via an ability tree. Emily, being a new playable character in the series, has a new set of powers to play with. Here are a few:

“Far Reach” – A giant hand grappling hook that lets you physically move across spaces and swing around objects. Given the game’s greater emphasis on verticality, these movements are especially important.

“Mesmerize” – Stuns multiple guards temporarily.

“Domino” – Lets you link four guards together, and whatever you do to one happens to the rest. For example, stun one with a stun mine and they’ll all be stunned.

“Doppelganger” – Creates a clone of yourself. You can use this together with Domino to link your clone to the guards, then blow up your own clone.

“Shadow Walk” – Lets you slink into the shadows and squeeze into tight spaces.

Corvo has the same powers as he did in the first game, but upgraded and expanded. His “Bend Time” ability can now also fast-forward time, and his “Possession” ability can now be chained between creatures. His “Blink” can assassinate someone through a glass window starting at Level 1.

Both Emily and Corvo are equipped with a pistol, sword, and crossbow, but they look different. The items also have different end-game upgrades.

Stealth and non-lethal options have been expanded to be more up to par with the amount of lethal options, including non-lethal aerial take-downs.

Guards are a lot smarter this time, and can do things like vault around and scale objects to chase you. You can also use them as human shields, or put them in beds to avoid suspicion.

Here are some extra details:

They’re trying to make the ending and morality systems better this time.

There are difficulty sliders for things like how visible you are in cover.

There is now quick saving and quick loading along with checkpoints.

Dishonored 2 runs on a modified version of idTech 5 that they’ve dubbed “The Void Engine.”

As far as PC mods go, there is a hint about downloading the Bethesda.net application.

I'm going to have such a blast playing as Emily, and I'm glad that they've also changed up the AI a bit, to where it's more realistic. :)
The "Domino" power, imo, sounds pretty awesome.

This game can't come out soon enough.
I'm going to be having a blast with this game in 6 short months.

A new video with Game Informer and some more info on Dishonored 2.
As I've previously stated, they talk about some of the stuff in the game, including the new in-between-missions "hub" in Dishonored 2, supernatural powers and a level of the game that they demo'd.
I'm pretty sure that they level that they demo in Dishonored 2 will be similar to how Arkane showed off Lady Boyle's Party for the first Dishonored in 2012, and I'm guessing that this level that they talk about will be shown at Bethesda's E3, this year.

That said, I don't agree with the guy in the red shirt saying that "nobody likes a silent protagonist" due to the positive reactions to Chell in the Portal series and Corvo in Dishonored.
