Dishonored: All Things Dishonored related

I am hoping that those guards feel like the Big Daddies in which you HAVE to have some sort of strategy to get them down.

Tallboys were sort of like that, but all you really had to do was either wait for them to turn their backs on you and just fire at the whale tanks, or have Bend Time 2 and Assassin Drop on them.

There's that strategy, but it's not like you have that much effort to put into to wipe them out. Although I loved the last time I played the Boyle mission, I just flew by them within seconds and hopped into the estate without getting spotted. When I first played this game, I had such a difficult time and I could never understand why that was. After playing it again now, I still ask "why was that such a hard thing for me to get pass?"

Same here.
I'm also wondering if we can just drop-assassinate onto those things like we could with the Tallboys.

I tried taking out the whale oil tanks on the Tallboys in Dishonored, but I found it much easier to drop onto them from a higher ledge or double jump and assassinate them.

I hear ya.
Recently while playing the Definitive Edition on PS4, I played through the Flooded District again without getting spotted (not even using Bend Time or Possession), and I thought to myself "How did I get spotted here when I first played the game?"
Then I realized that I was mostly on the rooftops, and in the 2nd part of Flooded District (where Daud is) I immediately jumped in the water and went through the left side alley which isn't Flooded in the Knife Of Dunwall, and there are hardly guards in that part.
I also recently found another entry way into Dunwall Tower (Lord Regent mission) by Possessing a hagfish, and going in that way, and I thought to myself "Why didn't I try that before?"

I wonder if this is that otherworldly usurper that was spoken of, who dethrones Emily.

what do you get for completing the Dishonored with no kills?? besides a trophy/achievement? like do you get anything in your next playthrough?

If you "Ghost" it (never ever seen by guards or enemies) and do "Clean Hands" (no kills), those 2 are different trophies / achievements.
There's also a Trophy / achievement for not getting any supernatural powers (aside from basic level 1 Blink, which is given to you by default), which is called "Mostly Flesh and Steel."
There's also a Trophy for getting High Chaos (killing a lot of people) and Low Chaos (killing fewer to no people).

Off-Topic: I just noticed you changed the sig. I just can't wait to hope into the game as Emily. I hope they don't casualize it or delay it to 2017.

I replied shortly in the other post, but I figured I'd reply here in the Dishonored thread, in order not to derail the other thread too much. ;)

I also can't wait to play as Emily.
Her Shadow Walk power that Emily uses at the end of the trailer is something that Harvey Smith told me that they've wanted to implement in the first Dishonored, but they didn't have the time to implement it right.
Can't wait to try it out.

As for a delay, I have a feeling that it may be delayed a bit.
If it IS delayed, though, I have a feeling that it may be just because Spring 2016 is already filled to the brim with other AAA games that Bethesda Softworks wouldn't want to compete with (SFV, Doom, Mirror's Edge, Uncharted 4, Far Cry Primal).
It's weird because Harvey Smith and Raf Colantonio originally initially said "Spring 2016" for Dishonored 2, at E3 2015, and even the Facebook page for Dishonored 2 used to say Spring 2016.
The Facebook page no longer says "Spring 2016," but rather just "2016," so that makes me thing that something may be up.

Maybe I'm just over-thinking it and Arkane Studios is putting the finishing touches and doesn't want to feel rushed, and it could also be the reason that they dropped "Spring" from the release date on the Facebook page.

With all of the other games coming at who knows when in Fall and Winter 2016, I think they have a better chance with a Spring 2016 Release (or maybe even Summer).
In the Fall and Winter, we'd still have LoZ WiiU, Gears 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Mass Effect Andromeda, Deux Ex Mankind Divided, Attack on Titan, Crackdown 3, Dead Island 2, Halo Wars 2, Homefront 2, Final Fantasy XV, Persona 5, The Last Guardian, Battlefield 5, Whatever the next CoD is, and Yakuza 6. With all of those coming like during Fall and Winter, I think Dishonored 2 would probably be more overshadowed if it's released later in the year.

My only concern for the game at the moment is the story because when sweet characters get older and make a complete 180 in a sequel, it usually turns into a sort of bad thing. Like FFX-2 and FFXIII-2/Lightning Returns where most of the characters had a completely different personality as if they were a new character. But after Life is Strange broke the "second to last episode" curse that occurred in episodic games prior to it, I still have faith they'll do the game justice.

P.S. I wonder how large the location in D2 will be because the Dunwall still felt pretty large to say it was a linear-open world game.

Good point.
I didn't think about all the other games coming out near Fall / Winter 2016.
With what you said, then maybe any time is as good as any to release Dishonored 2, as long as it's not within too close proximity to a big AAA title.
I'll change my safe guess to be late Spring / early Summer 2016, then. ;)

I expect Emily to be a bit different in Dishonored 2, because this game takes place 15 years after the events of the first Dishonored and Emily is Raised by Corvo from the end of Dishonored (10 years old) until the time of Dishonored 2 (25 years old).
According to Harvey Smith, we begin the game spending the first 30 minutes playing as Emily, then some event happens where we get to either continue playing as Emily or switch to playing as Corvo.
I have faith that Arkane Studios will do some good development with Emily, though. :)

The location of Dishonored 2 should be a decent size, and possibly more of an area to cover.

Despite the map above showing "Gristol" to be bigger than "Serkonos," the first Dishonored only took place in Dunwall, which is a small part of Gristol.
Likewise Dishonored 2 will start off in Dunwall Tower (first 30 minutes that you play as Emily), and will continue to Karnaca (presumably, after the part where you get to choose between either Emily or Corvo).
So, I'm guessing that even though Serkonos is smaller (according to the map), that we'll probably get to explore more of it.

So two different playthroughs? Not that's gonna be cool. And the Blood Fly mechanic is gonna bring a real challenge and strategy for those who like to kill people a lot. Finally, a game that brought back an emphasis on requiring players to use less violence and more sneaking, seeing how those are pretty much downplayed in games like Splinter Cell Blacklist and MGSVPP. Thief was a great stealth game, but I don't even think you were able to defend yourself in that game like they said you could. I really can't wait to see what they do with this though. I really only played the first one due to it's similarity to Bioshock and I don't regret that at all.

Yeah, I think it'll be really cool.
Kind of like playing as Corvo (main game) and Daud (DLC) in the first Dishonored game.
2 different characters with 2 different sets of powers. :-D
I can't wait.
Agreed.
I was kind of saddened that the stealth that Metal Gear was always known for was downplayed a bit in MGSV.
Thief 2014 was Ok, but once I beat it I felt like I had no reason to go back, aside from the bonus DLC Bank mission.
The first Dishonored was a game that I took a real risk with because I pre-ordered it and it was well worth the pre-order, imo.
Dishonored 2 can't come out soon enough, for me.

I really, really hope that this is true and that we get a release date and / or some gameplay for Dishonored 2, at E3 2016.
It's the only game that I have on pre-order from E3 last year, and probably the only new game that I care about for 2016.

Bethesda also Tweeted this image on February 1st (which has Corvo in it), with "Are you game?" and the hashtag #BE3.....

Now, while some may say that the image (above) also has other characters from other Bethesda Published games in it and may seem insignificant, last year's Bethesda E3 invite (below) was similar with Bethesda having other game characters in it, along with a Dishonored Tallboy in 1 of the seats......

It would be a surprise to me for them not to show off Dishonored 2 at E3. When the first Dishonored was revealed, I believe it was release a little bit after that year. Maybe it'll be released around July or October since so many other games are coming in September.

Yes, October of 2012, the year after it was announced.
IIRC, the first Dishonored was announced shortly after E3 2011 (July), and went gold near the end of September 2012.
Based on the previous announcement and release time-frame for the last game, October of this year sounds about right for Dishonored 2. ;)

Maybe October will be Arkane's release window for games, as mid-April has become the release window for NRS games.

It better not come out in July, otherwise my entire summer is gone :-P

Would appreciate it being released in October.

It kinda wonder if they'll add multiplayer/co-op to the game. With this Gen being heavily online focused, I wonder if they'll put some online features since so many people can actually get the same power as Corvo, Emily, and the assassins.

Nope, at least according to Harvey Smith.
Harvey Smith said that they aren't interested in having co-op or online in Dishonored 2, just like with the first Dishonored, as he feels that it takes away from the single-player experience and I completely agree with him.
I was so psyched when he said that.
I don't want to see happen with the Dishonored franchise what happened with Assassin's Creed online, and I'm glad that they're not planning on implementing it.

Quite frankly, the Dishonored IP has been a unicorn of the gaming industry these days, and I hope that it stays that way.
Properly done DLC, no pay to win and a single-player game that doesn't have online.

"It was confirmed that there is no cooperative play since together Corvo and Emily tell a singular story. It was also revealed once you choose either Emily or Corvo you cannot switch between the two."

As cool as the idea would sound, thank freaking God. It's been hard trying to find a good single-player game this gen that isn't a remaster. I've been playing indies and non-PS4 games more often than not because of the online stuff (I can't really play online unless it's 11:10-6:30, which the PS4 is in the room of my high school brother). Hopefully the companies who are still Single-Player based keep up with that instead of trying to because console versions of Mobile games.

Dishonored will be one of the better single player series that remains single player. As much as it would be cool to see it have a multiplayer feature and having you being a character from an assorted cast, still.

Besides, the first game still has plenty of replay value. That's how great the first game is.
