Thats a matter of opinion. My opinion, tournament competitive play makes fighting games FUN. It turns the game into a chess match rather than a happy go lucky match.

And this is where I have a problem with the whole "tournament scene." Tom Brady can know his role and shut his mouth. Mortal Kombat 1 - MK vs. DC Universe WERE NOT MADE FOR TOURNAMENT PLAY! Now this stream is beginning to piss me off.

MK9 was meant for tournament play and they are doing a good job at it by fixing patches but to call the entire MK franchise "garbage" because it isnt tournament worthy? yeah I have a problem with this

I don't really know who this guy Tom Brady is (i'm assuming he's not the New England Patriots QB but some other Tom Brady :)) but calling every MK game "garbage" is, IMHO, a unfair generalization, you can't compare MK2, a 18 year-old game featured in many best game ever lists, with, let's say, MKDA, MKD or Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, which are truly lesser eforts of Midway, and while nowhere near "garbage", could not really compete with Tekken or DOA in tournament play.

And now to leave with a bit of a Parthian shot, i would personally pick up and play MK2 over any other fighting game released over that 18 year period, yes, even above MVC2, DOA, Tekken, SF3, SF4 and SSF4. At least until MK9 got released, that's my new favorite. :)
 
Finally some patches. I'm not to sure about changing around Kenshi. I like his look and his backstory. I hope they dont change him around too much.

I personally hated every single mk game after UMK3. Tom says UMK3 was bad, I disagree with him on that, but whatever. Hey, if you liked MK4, MK Deception and MKvsDC that's fine with me, I honestly don't give a shit. But it will never changed the fact that those games sucked major ass and were poorly designed.

Now MK9 is really solid and NRS deserves credit for making such a great title. This is the best MK ever hands down.

IMO You hurt the community more by encouraging garbage games like MK4 and MKvsDC. Because that's like saying: "Hey we don't give a shit about better gameplay or decent netcode, we just want stupid ninjas and busty babes spitting blood all over the place. Give us gore and we'll give you our money. Yes, we are that stupid and simple minded as gamers."

I stand corrected and honestly I agree about all 3d mk games sucking infact I think I pretty much forgot they exsisted heck same could be said of street fighter ex talk about garbage

Not a good fighting game essentially means not a good game since after all MK is a fighting game. Theyre not going to purposely make a crappy game.

fighting..you know two guys going at it, kicking each others asses? Boxing, mma..fighting are all competitive.

Back in the day of the arcade fighting games were made for fun (cause when 2 people are playing and having fun, they dump a lot of quarters into machines).

The tournament scene focus came after.

I would give you negative rep but I gotta spread some around before doing it again. This post is about as ignorant as they come. Everyone has their own opinions but there is NOTHING I hate more than when someone tries to spin their opinions as fact. Supporting games like MK4, MKD and MK v. DCU hurt the community? I was unaware of this... sorry, from now on ill disregard the fact that I really enjoyed MK4 along with the other 3D games and will just start trashing them for now on to "help the community"
 
Personal opinions aside its good to see nrs trying to stamp out any exploits and make this game as balanced as possible

Hey don't apologize for your ignorance, that's what I'm here for. :)

If you keep going to the cinema to watch terrible movies, then they'll keep making terrible movies. That's all I'm saying.

I liked SF the movie, doesn't change the fact that is was a very bad movie.

I can easily list you 100 reasons why a game is badly designed. You might still enjoy playing it, but it won't change anything to its crappy design, bad graphics, poor content or lame storyline.

Yeah 3d and mortal kombat should never be in the same sentence even ed boon has said in interviews that 3d makes projectiles useless and mk is a projectile battle driven franchise as much as some may hate "zoning" its a big part of mortal kombats style back on topic anyone hear anything about smoke getting any low attack options in a patch cause as of now he's got Notta and well if kanos getting one it only makes sense
