OMG really?! they really did that?! Man, thats so lame, but its still resident evil thus ill probably still buy, but what the hell?! They have SO much money are they really going to start forcing people to pay full price all the time?

Game Stop's response

I think this is being blown way out of proportion.

Yes and No.
I could see the people that say "I'll never buy another Capcom game EVER," blowing it out of proportion.

On the other hand, take Metal Gear Solid for example, though.
Metal Gear Solid (aside from Mortal Kombat) is my favorite game series, to this day.
I usually play through Metal Gear Solid games about 3 or 4 times, just discovering NEW secrets, then I save over my previously saved data.
It would suck BIG TIME if I couldn't overwrite my previous save data, just because the developer wants to punish used game sales.

Daaaamn. Now THAT is desperation. And people thought online passes were bad? Bahaha.

Although, I'm sure Capcom could always sell GameStop and other resellers a tool to erase the save game so that they could resell it without the perma-save.

As disgusting as it is, is anybody surprised by this? Software companies for a long time have voiced objections against second-hand hand distribution and made efforts to combat it. Some programs already limit the number of times you can install software from a disk. PDMS is not a software that you can own, you have to "rent" it in order to continue to use it, and the cost of a video game is dirt cheap in comparison to one monthly rental per station. They just want to have a piece of the pie and can leverage their technology to achieve that end.

Well, it was blown out of proportion by the media. I can understand this route for Mercs in a way. If it becomes a standard across the board down the road thats a different story.

That's stupid. Why would they do that?

CapCom has been the retarded rich kid of the video game world for a very long time....i.e.. Every SUper MEga Hyper AE Tourny edition of SF. They just want more money and it's sad.

I don't think NRS or any other studio will follow this because in the end those other studios are gamers too and would hate the idea if they wern't working at the studio.

Only if you are living in a utopian world. Are you forgetting that video games are much of a business as they are a form of entertainment? The implementation of the online pass in MK9, while not as severe, is still an incentive to get consumers to buy new games. EA had activation limits on some of their PC games and were challenged because of it.

I do remember that but that's just a small step. yeah its going to get worse over time but I think that theres going to be a few studios that stay true to the gamers

RE is garbage since RE3, every part after RE3 was crap, so i actually dont care about that "new" RE, has nothing to do with the good old RE. I would never buy it. But such crap, srsly... i will never ever buy a game with such an "one savegame" only. and imho none should buy it, otherwise we will se much more of that crap in the future from other companys, too. who in the hell wants this? so if you want to play your game another time from 0-100% you have to buy a new one?? holy crap... they really think they can do everything with us.

i think it's pretty re-dick. this may only hurt capcom in my opinion. plus if the rest of the industry starts to follow this it may hurt the industry a bit too.

I was having a hard time seeing how this would work because I was thinking that it would save on the systems hardrive. But the save goes on the disk itself. Sorry not sure if it's a cartridge or disk. Sneaky ass Capcom. They been dropping the ball of late, haven't they. Where's my Marvel vs. Capcom DLC dammit.

Capcom is really the most greedy gaming company but i think they overdone it after the 360/PS3, SFIV-SSFIV-SSFIVA/ DR2:CZ-DR2-DR2:CW and so long and now they force you to not resale the game again so people will buy a new copy from them.

There is really no excuse because even if you don't own the rights of the game when you buy it you own the item and you can do it what anything you want and i am sure they will try it with the console games now with a online check.

Come on man, where have you been the last 25 years? This is nothing new with Street Fighter and alot of their other IPs.

SFII > SFII:CE > SFII: Hyper Fighting > SSFII > ST > Hyper Anniversary
SFA > SFA2 > SFA2 Gold/Upper > SFA3
SFEX > EX2 > EX2Plus > EX3
SFIII > SFIII: 2I > SFIII: 3S
SFIV > SSFIV > SSFIV: AE

Marvel Series, Darkstalkers / Vampire Series, etc.

So far this is only for Mercs 3D on 3DS, a handheld as far as slot save lockout.

Yeah right, i didn't know you had the choise for dlc contest at mega drive or snes or psx... check the for the update new version of MVC3 rather the dlc and tell me later...

This will end worse than their "brilliant" idea of "one save file per profile per memory unit" from Dead Rising 1.
