Buying MK Trilogy (PSone)

Haha, isn't it? Well I know the older 60/80g PS3s are PS2 and PSone backward compatible, the Slim is only PS1. Sometimes the Blu-ray player gets damage and isn't able to read the discs. That's what happened to my 40g. At first it was only with PSone games, then I couldn't play PS3 games so I had to buy a slim.
Do they still PS3s that kan play both PS2 and PSX game?

Well to be honest you can probably find one at Gamestop pretty easy. Bad part however, those are pretty much the first line of PS3s.The blu-ray drive will probably be dead, if not close to it.

BC or not, playing PS1/2 games, especially with HD tv is awful. Terrible terrible button delay/lag.

I have the 60gig model with the latest firmware, I havent tried a PSX disk game yet, but I have downloaded a few PSXClassics, and I haven't experienced any lag what so ever.
I have a 720p LCDTV, maybe its only an issue with the 1080i's? I've heard of this before though, just never experienced it.

Never tried it with anything else but disc based fighters.

I srsly doubt you'd want one, and I wouldn't recommend getting one, because even if it did work, it probably wouldn't work for much longer. Some of those early models had a high failure rate "YLOD" amongst other things.
Just get a PS2, or an emulator that's what I have.
I also have a PS2, but it didn't look too good on my HDTV, so I use the emulator to enhance the image quality.

Nope :/ you'll have to find a PS3 80g (phat).

20gig and 60 gig as well.

i have the 60GB Model (launch) it plays PS1 and PS2. unlike the 80gig mine has actual PS2 Hardware for PS2 Playback.
CECHA01 is the model # for the 60gb

MY PS3 Plays all my PSX Games Flawlessly and in 1080P, except PSX doesn't look so good in 1080P.

60gb are even harder to find, which makes me want one more than ever. i have to agree with the laser, so i got the 1 year warranty.

I have the 60g as well. Paid $600 for it when it was new. I still cant believe i paid that much money for it, certainly not worth $600. The BC is soooo overrated on it. but still, its a hell of a blu-ray player, and now that i have netflix on it, its my movie/Uncharted machine. lol

I've got a 60 gig that I paid $600 for when ps3 was originally released. It plays all the mk's from all 3 ps systems and plays them flawlessly at least that I know of. Never really played the system until the last year or so. Only used it as a bluray player for years. I almost upgraded my ps3 about 6 months ago then went online first to see reviews. That's when I found out it didn't play ps2 games so I said f it.

i got mine when it came out but is there any way i can see what model number and what gb it is? which are the ones that are backwards compatible?

i just came across my copy of trilogy for ps1.. works perfectly and is in great shape but i dont have the box with it. any offers?

I notice playing Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PS2 and PS3 is that some of the sounds go missing in the game, nothing that major but It feels like playing silent Mortal Kombat at times.

I have an 80 gig MGS4 PS3. It plays all the PS2 and PS1 games that I own flawlessly (more or less). All the MK games that I have work fine on it except for Shaolin Monks which has flickering textures (not a big loss to not be able to play that game IMO). My brother's copy of MKT works fine on it, I haven't noticed any missing sounds or anything and it seems like it loads much faster playing it on my PS3 compared to playing it on our PS1.
