I actually don't mind some but there's just too many imo. Also the passing of the torch, does anyone really believe that? I just can't see it.
An MK game without Sonya, Liu, Jax, Kung Lao, Johnny or Raiden? No way. They might kill of one or two, but that's it.
Given the fact MK9 was already a service to these guys, I would've liked some to stay dead and bring in more MK4-6 characters.
Agreed, but it is what it is.
As for the passing of the torch, yeah, it makes sense, IMO.
Unfortunately, as much as I would have wanted it, you can't just have a game with a ton of new characters and too little old characters.
Otherwise, the fans go bat-shit crazy and riot.
MKX seems to be a gradual transition between old and new, hence why I understood so many klassic parents being in with their children.
Have both old and new in MKX, and have a few parents sit out for MKXI and introduce more characters.
It's more gradual that way with 8 new characters in X and in the next game you introduce 4 more, thus it doesn't hit people as hard as 12 new characters at once, and they're more likely to accept it if MOST MKX new characters are good.
It makes complete sense, IMO.
Even if 6 out of the 8 are likable by most people, that's a WAY better starting ratio of liked new characters than they had in the 3D era.
Maybe not killed off per se, but I could see Sonya, Johnny, Jax and maaaaaaaaaaybe Kung Lao sitting out and being retired for 1 or 2 games, and letting their relatives take over for a while.
No biggie, IMO.
As would I, but maybe we'll see more of them as a 2nd Kombat Pack (if the 1st one sells well) or maybe 1 of them (Fujin) is the unlockable character after beating story mode.
