Baraka's Role in MKX

The select screen we saw yesterday was confirmed final.
Oh that, yeah. I think people are discussing unlockable characters now, though, which (presumably) have yet to be revealed.

We know there's at least one (story mode) and probably more (towers).

Baraka could easily be the secret character found in Tower mode. If there's a secret character to be found there, I mean.

I don't see what the hell they would do for his variations, though.

A waste of a character, just like Sonya and Jax. Another safe 'cool' option, instead of a 3D-era character they have the opportunity to revamp and rejuvenate.

They should just kill him off as an NPC, but I take your point about Ed's hints. At the very least, if he is unlockable then that bodes well for another character or two.

Wouldn't it be in the best interest of sales to go with the "cool" and "safe" option as opposed to a character from the 3D, which was probably the lowest point in the series in terms of characters?

He was partially confirmed as likely not being in in, given that Tyler said on the stream that the Tarkatan arm in Erron's variation may be Baraka's.
Sounds like he got killed, to me.

How is Fujin not a "cool" and "safe" option, though?
IIRC, Fujin, Quan Chi and Reiko were the 3 most popular MK4 debut characters.

Cyborgs wont be in because that would essentially kill the need for predator who basically is cyrax and sektor combined with more abilities.

predator might be similar to a cyrax and sector (more cyrax though as i think jaquie is the sector role now)
but a cyber baraka could be completley different to all that. less ninja like and more of a frankenstien monster put back together with enhancements to make him more deadly than ever.
thius not taking anything away from predator whos just a guest anyway

So you want them to make anyone into a robot just for the sake of having a cyborg?

idk if reiko is more popular than shinnok.

I really thought Tanya had more fans than Fujin but if you say so, Commander. I'd like to see Fujin become playable so if we're lucky, he'll be the unlockable character. If not, he can be DLC at the very least. I'd be totally fine with anyone who debuted in MK:DA through Mk:A to be absent from the storyline's progression. All of them were awful. Lol I bet you someone will chime in and tell me how awesome Darrius is right now...

Ok, I'll give you that, but Quan Chi and Fujin are definitely 2 of the 3 most popular from MK4, then.

Nah.
Tanya has a few more vocal fans here on TRMK, but the request for Tanya is almost zilch on Twitter, in comparison with Fujin.
Lots of people were asking Ed for Fujin and Tremor on Twitter.

I think Sektor and Cyrax should be the only cyborgs in the series. It makes them unique. If a bunch of other cyborgs start popping up, it cheapens the value of the Lin Kuei's cyber initiative. Sektor and Cyrax can sit this one out, if you ask me. Everyone can't come back in every game, even if they survived the last one. Stuff gets super boring when that happens. Just ask Tekken...

no but if theyre guna put in a new cyborg id rather it was something new and unpredictable as oppose to something onvious like a cyber smoke.

Cyborgs are made by the lin kuei so it makes the most sense for them to be members of the lin kuei.

If Baraka is a playable character, so is Sindel, Fujin, Rain, Bo Rai Cho, and the other "dead never stay dead" characters. Sorry to say, but the roster is pretty much final.

I am pretty sure he will be playable.

For people who understand how Ed Boon talks to fans, he has confirmed him about 3 times, even today.

Question is, how important is he to the story? Did they do something with him this time because a lot of people have been complaining about nothing being done with him story-wise.

I am so ready to chop somebody up with those blades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have rarely seen him tweet about Baraka, but the few times he has, it has been the same type of hint other confirmed characters have received, so his chances are not completely off. I wont keep my hopes up though
