Assuming theres 20 characters, who will make the cut?

Baraka isnt getting any love. He should be in the game as he is one of the most recognizable MK characters they have. He is a lot better than jax or kano.
 
Baraka better? Maybe. But Kano is pretty iconic. When you look at the roster for MKA it's gonna be pretty damn hard to pick just 10. 15 would be so much better.
 
ok from mk, not including subzero and scorpion, who are already confirmed.
1. liu kang- he's iconic and is the main protagonist of almost every mk game
2.shang tsung- easilly one of mk's best baddies, and definitely one of the most pure evil ones. plus, he's magic and stuff!
3.reptile- a healthy alternative to subzero and scorpion, think about it. if he wasn't a pallete swapped ninja in mk2-3, he would have been one of the most original characters ever to grace mk. he's got an interesting persona and backstory, and awesome finishers/special moves. I think what they need to do is just get his costume right so the DC fans don't say "arrgh mk has too many stupid ninjas! I don't wanna play as the green version of sub zero any more!"
4.raiden- the exact opposite of tsung. he's like the FDR of mortal kombat. we need him and his magic stuff and his british vocab.
5.goro- we obviously need a good, big boss. goro is by far the best. kintaro is a cheap rip off, goro is the most original boss in the entire mk series.
6.baraka- I don't care what anybody says about "baraka wont fit cuz hez too gory". He has such a vicious, brutal nature to match that of such guys as doomsday and darkseid.
7.kitana- wonder woman of mk
8.mileena- you can't have kitana without this b1tch
9.shao kahn- the hitler of mk. he's too evil(albeit not on the level as shang tsung) I think he'll be a perfect match up for some of DC's hunks AND small guys
10. jax- like some guy said, he may not be very iconic but he is pretty tech-ish and I think there's always that cyber DC guy who can fight him.

i can only name a few, since i'm largely unfamiliar with this shit
1.doomsday- the ultimate DC goro. come on, he killed superman[i'm guessing]!!
2.bane- also pretty evil, like doomsday. personally, i prefer the above.
3.wonder woman- pretty much DC's kitana or sonya
4.joker-IMO, he's the shang tsung of MK- a pure evil maniac, although can't really get the job done.
5.green lantern- he has the "most powerful weapon in the universe". that's good enough for me.
6.lobo- i'll just put my faith in your better judgement on this dude.

I think there is some confusion around Bane, probably brought on due to that piece of shit Film with George Clooney in.
He isn't a gibbering grunting fool like in the film, he is actually a cool, collected and intelligent individual. He is very strong, but augments his strength with Venom, a chemical that he injects into his blood stream. An example of his cunning is in Knightfall, where he frees every single villain from Arkham asylum. Batman runs himself absoutely ragged finding and catching all of the bad guys, and after he has, and he's physically and mentally drained, Bane attacks him and defeats him, breaking his back, and forcing him to move over and pass on the mantle of Batman to Jean-Paul Valley (Azrael). Azrael goes mad and Bruce Wayne trains himself back to his peak and kicks his ass, but that's another story.

Agreed completely. I just don't see them tossing the most brutal MK fighter into a game with toned-down violence. I could be wrong, but seriously, how would he work in a T-rated game?
 
Well look here. You keep saying none of these characters are "recognizable" but with a world like the DC universe it is pretty much guarenteed that the most "recognizable" ones will be ones that were featured in movies. But they can't just take a bunch of Batman bad guys and Lex Luthor. Those are really the only ones who have been in movies. You have to pick characters that are recognizable to FANS of DC. Just like Boon will pick characters that are recognizable to FANS of MK. If we're talking about people who havn't played MK or read a DC comic all the readily recognizable characters are pretty much covered by "Sub, Scorp, Batman, and Superman". You see where I'm coming from? Sometimes the ones people know arn't the best.
 
Yeah, most people who I know who aren't into MK only remember Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Those and 'Louey Kang' anyway. I haven't met a casual gamer yet who knows who Baraka is. If I was to include characters that everyone knows, the 9 from MK1 would be right there.
 
i like the idea of having not so many chars, maybe we get deep fighting styles and good balancing (you better do that midway). probably its not gonna be those chars but theyre the ones i want:

See? That's exactly what I'm talking about. "Recognizable" is pretty much out the window for non-fans past these initial 4. Kabelfritz doesn't know more than Batman and Superman. So there's plenty of room for characters desired from the FANS. Baraka and Lobo seem to be the poster children for that movement.

for mk, i was a fan from hour 1. for dc, i hope the hardcore fans get their will, cause like in every franchise/game, theyre probably the ones who made it big and dont let their choice be influenced by questionable marketig politics, and therefore make a quality choice.

(questionable marketig politics = anticipating the behaviour of mr semi-interested by trying to figure out what he might like. so the gameplay and content is changed to match the possible interests of mr semi-interested.
but that is the wrong strategy! hardcore fans will be angry and mr semi-interested will stay mr semi-interested because he doesnt care about any gameplay or content, he probably doesnt even know what those are. what mr semi-interested cares about are awesome graphics. so give him AND the hardcore fans awesome graphics, and put a game into it that pleases the hardcore fans. maybe mr semi-interested will like it too, maybe not, but who cares, he already has spent his money and thats what you want from him. thats the way everybody gets happy.)
 
I want a collector's edition with figurines a T-shirt and a comic book! Let's not forget a metal case! If money is what they want I'm willing to give it! Flashy is good.

I think you've nailed it in terms of most well known characters. There may need to be another female character or two, and Goro doesn't fit the standard character model. So if it was me, I'd trade Goro for Kitana and add some villainess like Catwoman on the DC side.

I'd love to see a Superman II style General Zod but it probably won't happen.
 
I reconise most DC villians... Its just there are so many I have to stop and think which ones I'd actaully put in this game... There are just too many... And heroes are even worst. The top three, sure, no doubt about it... The others? Which one of hundreds?
