Am I the only one who doesn't like any of the new characters??

Yep, thats exactly it...... Or the principle is most easily demonstrated using the most overt example and one would assume that could be extrapolated to include the other characters.

Sure are there a handful that are probably just complaining to complain about the cages, but that doesn't negate the issue.

Again, I personally DO NOT CARE. I just think it is absurd not to see how someone could take issue with it now more so than previous generations.

There's just nothing exciting about whips or energy swords (?), tbh. At least to me. Kung Jin looks similarly boring to play as.
 
What's with all this hate im seeing towards kung jin and takeda? I personally like them both and thought thry had great gameplay and Takeda wowed me with his cool personality and awesome moves. Still not above the great kotal but they look great. I think alot of people are still kinda bitter about their favs not making it in which us understandable. Im still kinda hurt behind fujin and kai but they put alot of my other favs in and kotal, takeda, kung jin and shinnok just joined my list

What? Whips and energy swords aren't exciting? Do you realize what you just said? lol I suppose another pistol wielding or sword/knife/blade wielding character would be better, though. :nuts:

Takeda is indeed a ninja, even more so than any of the othe MK characters, except for Scorpion. Those two are the only "real" ninjas in the franchise so far. The Shirai Ryu is/was a ninja clan based on the real life ninja clans of Feudal Japan.

I've always loved ninjas, but the way MK has kinda shat out a character for every colour of the rainbow, given them super powers, smacked a mask on them and called them all for ninjas... I've hated that since day one. Because they aren't ninjas! Even Scorpion who actually is a ninja acts nothing like a ninja at all. He's alot more a flaming wraith yelling REVENGE all the time and spewing fire everywhere... I've never been able to accept any of them as actual ninjas.

I'm glad NRS has shown us Scorpion in his roots as an actual ninja in the comic, but in the game, he's just the same fire-spewing revenge-yelling wraith again.

So I'm glad we now got Takeda to be a "real" ninja. I put "real" in quotations, because he isn't real-real, but rather, to repeat myself, a modern interpretation of a real ninja, like Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden, for example.
 
I dunno, historically speaking, none of these characters are even remotely ninjas.

In this you are indeed right, however, there are more correct versions and less correct versions.
Being a character who trained ninjutsu in a ninja clan in Japan, learning stealth, espionage, assassination techniques etc, is closer to be a real ninja than anything else. And anything else would be Sub-Zero, Smoke, Reptile, Noob, Ermac, Rain, Cyrax, Sektor, Kitana, Mileena, Jade, Chameleon, Khameleon, Skarlet, and in some people's opinions, Reiko and Tanya (because their initial looks sprung from the male and female MK ninja look).

The Lin Kuei are indeed a clan of stealthy assassins and warriors, but they are not ninjas. Canon lore states so, more specifically Sub-Zero confirms this himself in MK Mythologies.

I've been in this debate before, and I think Sub Zero specifically meant he was above other ninja clans.

more of "We are no mere Ninja Clan, we are Lin Kuei!" rather than "Lin Kuei aren't ninjas".

That's your interpretation then. But it would still be wrong. As in, not that your interpretation is wrong, but rather that they are indeed not ninjas.

Edit: I just double-checked. He says "I am not a ninja! I am Lin Kuei!"
