Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

I'd like to see an alt that had sort of an armored Amazon feel. I liked MKX Concept Art #3. Not functional armor -- she's magical, she doesn't need it -- but something ornate and flashy.

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

Kitana and Mileena don't wear functional armor either, so it should be okay for Tanya in that sense. However, I'm indifferent towards #3 that appears in the concept art.

I think I'd enjoy Tanya's MK4 Klassic in MKX more than anyone, but please, keep MKD and MK4 out of her alternate. I want her to have another brand new design. :)

Yeah, agreed. I think if Tanya and Tremor do get alts it'll be one apiece, so I'd rather not have them be Klassic skins. Now, if they wanna give us an alt AND a Klassic skin I'm not complaining. ;)

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

I've mentioned this before, but Tanya's fans are literally was drove me away from liking the character, unfortunately to say. I really hate that they did, because I shouldn't judge an entire fan base on a few users who acted so mean, so cruel, and so immaturely towards me all because I had a different view/opinion about their beloved fictional character.

Over the span of a few years, I have came across some of the meanest fans of hers. But before I continue, let me say that I know her entire fan base is not mean. I know that there are nice fans, (I mean they're all on this site) fans who appreciate having conversations with people who do not like her and can be civil about it.

I mean, couple months ago, there was some random Tanya fan who literally went overboard on insults and death threats all because you mentioned that you "don't really like this character." The amount of absurdness that came from this user both when they were on MKO and then here was... impressive to say the least because I had never seen so much backlash come from one user about the character. They eventually got banned on both of these sites because 1.) The moderators were sick of the crap they were spilling out and 2.) Sending death threats is frowned upon in this society.

I will never understand what is it about this character that brings out the craziness but this is the reason why I don't really care for the character. However, just because I don't care for her doesn't mean I can't appreciate her if I try her. If I like what I see when it comes to game play, I'll slap down a few bucks to get her, but as of right now, I will hold off a little bit after she is released to get her. I really don't care for the appearance change, I don't understand why too many were complaining about her when I thought she looked really great. I mean, despite the random hair animation, I thought the look for her was suiting. I wold have preferred her going really short but we can't have everything. I don't get why they needed to darken her skin when I thought it looked fine. I don't get why they needed to take out the purple in her outfit because I thought that mixture together looked great.

And I don't think I will ever appreciate the fact that they decided to give her no eyes... That was a flucking dumb move on their end, probably the only thing I have seen from them with this game that I absolutely do not like at all. I don't think I have ever said anything bad about this game, well sadly... this is the first.

Lol...

"I thought her skin looked fine." Yet, you wonder why Tanya fans were probably tearing your ass up.

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

lol I thought the same thing but I didn't want to be mean.

I give Kitty a hard time every now and then but I don't really have an issue with her. If it sounds mean, though, it is what it is. A lot of (not all but many) Tanya fans gravitated towards her because she looked different from the rest of the ladies that came before her. That includes Jade, too, because Jade had not been unmasked prior to MK4. Her ebony color is synonymous with her identity. Saying something like, "I don't see why they felt the need to darken her skin" is a surefire way to get lit up like a Christmas tree. In addition to not seeing a problem with a whitewashed Tanya, Kitty also said that the fans are another reason why she doesn't like Tanya. Unfortunately, some extremist fans will take that as a person insulting both, them as a person AND the character of Tanya. It sucks but that's how it goes on the Internet. Tanya has some hardcore supporters. I usually try to figure out why people dislike other characters in a better manner but when the word "stupid" starts getting thrown around in discussions, it never ends up well.

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

I believe it, but I'm nervous after Goro and Jason didn't!

Well you can't blame Jason for not having one, lol.
He's wore pretty much the same iconic design for his entire franchise besides Jason X.
And Jason X didn't exactly get the best reviews. Lol.
Goro, that was a surprise.
Tremor may.
I doubt Ed would say himself on a live stream 'DLC Characters will get alternate costumes.' and then turn around and say 'lol jk'

Yeah, exactly. Tanya was the first black woman in MK -- and whether or not everyone agrees she's black, whatever, clearly most casuals (if Twitter is any indication) thought so, especially black players, who I've noticed make up a surprisingly significant portion of the MK fanbase. Jade was a tan white woman in the Trilogy games (literally, a digitized white actress with a Photoshop spray tan) and was not reimagined as a black woman until the 3D era. I loved Jade's 3D era redesign, of course, but a lot of people had already imprinted on Tanya by then as 'the black woman in MK'.

To bring her back as a white woman or an ambiguously tan woman or whatever was a slap in the face to those fans who have been clamoring for her return for almost a decade -- making more fanart than I've seen for any other 3D era character, reskinning MK9 Jade to turn her into Tanya, etc etc etc. There was absolutely a need to fix it.

I don't have a problem with Kitty either, but if you can't understand why her skin color was a problem then it's no wonder a lot of Tanya fans didn't like you.

Personally the fans I have the most trouble with are fans of the complete male ninja set who don't seem to think any other characters are important.

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

maybe Goro will get one later. or i hope he does. A tournament costume at least.

If Tanya DLC sells well enough, i will beg them for a classic MK4 costume.

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

I honestly think the whole skin issue with Tanya is blown up way too much for all the wrong reasons. It's frankly quite annoying that people get all pissy when Tanya is described as black. That's why I'll say 'dark skinned' in regards to her. I'm sick of hearing "She's not black, she's Edenian." - That answers fuhk all. You get light skinned Edenians and you get dark skinned Edenians which is evident if you compare Kitana and Tanya. People aren't saying she's 'African American' or what not. The easiest thing for us to draw in comparison is to look at ourselves as humans. If I compare Tyra Banks to Taylor Swift, is someone gonna tell me Tyra Banks isn't black she's American when talking about her skin colour? It's silly.

The worst is people acting as if Tanya never even had a darker skin tone, or that you couldn't even tell the difference with her first MK X model. If there was barely any difference, I doubt there would have been much of a sh!tstorm anyway. Even if you look at the MK4 select screen, her skin is pretty much the same as Jax's, and he sure isn't 'light skinned'

It's very silly. Are they going to argue Li Mei and Bo' Rai Cho aren't Asian because they're from Outworld, not Asia? Come on.

And exactly -- if it wasn't that big a difference, nobody would have screamed. She was somewhat lighter than MK4/Gold in Deception/Armageddon and the fans totally rolled with it. This was wayyy over the line.

Plus like, just to the naked eye, it's obviously different! And if you can't trust the naked eye, isolating colors in Photoshop will make it pretty clear.

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

Ed vowed to create DLC alternate costumes, something MK9 refused to do.
*Tanya tone*

I kinda don't know how to envision Tanya's alt. I also don't really want to see her in her MK4/Deception costume, I wanna see something completely brand new. They're really changed up the female costumes this time around so it's quite hard to think how it might look. I'm just so happy she's getting an alt :D

Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.

I am ordering this shirt online.

Not sure if I should wait for her MKX render to come out and instead put that, or if I want to just go ahead and get this one..

Since you're both "thinking alike," I'll respond to both of you at the same time. There's a funny thing about what I had mentioned to you, Reiko, is when you had asked me what I thought about Tanya's previous appearance, me mentioning that I liked the tone of her skin was the first time I had mentioned that anywhere on any of the sites I go on.

This would be actually the first time anyone has seen me say that about her skin tone, so no, I haven't gotten "attacked" by Tanya fans because of it. And if they are planning on verbally bashing me because of it, not only will I sit in my chair and laugh my butt off, but also will look at that user and think unkindly stuff about them for a good minute until I shrug it off and care about more meaningful stuff to do. I mean I can't tell you how many times I've had people say to me stupid crap about my favorites, you don't see me getting heavily defensive about it, so neither should they.

I couldn't care less how people think of me hating a character for their fans. I'm not the only user on these sites to look at a fan base and dislike a character. If someone has a deep, serious problem with me not liking their favorite they can speak to me themselves. And like I said before, if someone is really going to get so aggravated at me for thinking that her skin tone was fine, they need to get a hold of themselves and realize how embarrassing it is to get incredibly defensive at someone for having a different opinion. That is usually the problem. Not all, but a handful of fans that I have talked to in the past seem to have a hard time understanding what "respect other opinions" mean. That is usually the main problem I have with this fan base.

I am not all butthurt because a few fans called me some names or wish to see me dead because I spoke differently about their characters, I am mostly laughing my butt off until my gut starts hurting and tears are coming out of my eyes because I cannot understand why someone feels the need to get so defensive at criticism or differences of opinions.

I give Kitty a hard time every now and then but I don't really have an issue with her. If it sounds mean, though, it is what it is.

I am going to ask you kindly to stop giving me a "hard time." I don't like it and it's really becoming quite aggravating every time you quote me. Please stop doing this and just have a conversation with no smart ass remarks.

I don't have a problem with Kitty either, but if you can't understand why her skin color was a problem then it's no wonder a lot of Tanya fans didn't like you.

And as I said before, this is the first time I've ever spoken out about the issue. And if Tanya fans really want to hate me because I think her skin tone was fine, then there's definitely some bigger issues that are needed to be checked out. I am not blind, of course I know why they got incredibly upset about this, but in my perspective, I didn't have a problem with it. So again, if her fans are going to go out of their way to harass me or whatever all because I thought her skin looked fine, bring it. The worst thing I can do is report their actions to a moderator.

I'm basically on the same boat with this.
